A little ot - I might be on me own with this one, but does the term 'undertaking' get up anyone elses nose.

Seems to me like a makey-up word that one of my kids would say tbh. Now granted, I understand that when it's mentioned as regards motoring, everyone knows what you are talking about, so I suppose in that regard in serves a purpose.

If I am describing it however, i'd call it overtaking on the inside. Hope I don't meet an undertaker until there's one measuring me for a pine box.

    As did comedy American suspension.

I was thinking that it would have been recoverable in any decently sprung car. That car just went mad.

Caused by bad truck driver, even worse car driver and absolutely terrible roadholding by the car.

I expect to see a video of me up here later. Some goon on the m50 was up my hole for about 2k. Then he takes out his phone and starts recording me.

    Pet peeve!!

Surely for undertaking to be correct it would be going from in front of someone to behind them?

What is say you're in the middle lane of the M50 and the car in front is doing 80 and the outside lane is very busy so you can't get in. Can you move into the furthest left lane and then drive at 100 and then move back into the middle lane?

No. We drive on the left, overtake on the right. You'd be both wrong, you for overtaking on the left, and the person in front for not moving to the left lane.

I've never really understood the second one (3rd in the act afaik), about once you've signaled your intention to turn left. Bit off topic though. More videos!

Yea, the second one is just stating what is already implied in the other rules.

In line with the thread 'Clearly the birdie was in the right there'. If you'd have been driving more defensively you'd have realised he'd had a bad day and was bent on trying a Kamikaze. ;)

    RIP Birdie.

Another unfortunate death statistic on our roads. Gay Byrne will be on here any minute now.

Hard to tell, is it a car in a car wash? Impossible to see what's going on at a resolution of 30x40 and a bitrate of 7kb/s.

holy jebus, you knocked the living pixels out of that poor birdie! :D

you should have titled the video 'derezzed'!

    NSFW (just the audio:eek:).

apologies in advance for my voice going hypersonic there for a bit, i was a little worked up! :D

to pre-empt the inevitable "you should have done this","you did that wrong", "you should have..." posts that will no doubt follow to critique every ms of the video...

yes, i had anticipated that the golf driver *might* have been stupid enough to try and pull out and i had eased of the accelerator just in case, i just hadn't realised that there was a possibility that the megane driver would have been so monumentally stupid as to decide his best course of action was to stop in the middle of the N11 to let them out with a massive line of traffic behind him.

and no, i didn't pull alongside him initially just to shout at him, I'd done it because i could see in my rearview mirror that the person behind me (my wife, who was following me) might not have the room to stop in time, because if I hadn't (and she confirmed this), she would have driven into the back of me and from what she said, the guy behind her would have definitely driven into the back of her as well, as he only just stopped almost on her bumper as it was.

BUT, as I was there, I couldn't not say anything after what he'd done, as you can tell i was a little upset that he nearly caused a pileup to let someone out onto the N11.

in related news, i think it's time to get a 1080p 60fps dashcam with a secondary rear facing camera and GPS etc. :)

right, i've said my piece, so go on, let me have it. :(

    F**k....

I can see nothing wrong with what you did.

You were aware enough to prevent an accident.
    What a thick.

If a pileup would have happened it would have been more to do with your wife and the person behind her.

The worst driver by far was the person in the golf though, I'd put the most blame on that person.

    that is BS
Pileup caused by the retard in the megane. Who stops in a main road to let someone out, when there is a Q of traffic behind you?

Sums up the stupidity of (a) any moron who buys an econobox excuse for a car -such as a megane, and (b) the irish motoring public at large

If you're driving along and a deer jumps out in front of you causing you slam on the breaks and I rear end you, whose fault is that?

It would be my fault for not leaving the safe space between cars.

Regardless of what the person in the car ahead of you does, it's your job to control your own car.

It's your fault, shouldnt brake for a deer.

This whole "rear ended automatically makes the rear ender at fault" thing is utter bollox anyway.
We should add in an addendum which envisages the type of stupidity shown by the megane driver, and the ignorance shown by the golf driver.

OP (of the video) completely not at fault.
