Donegal Airport peaked at 79kts, interesting to see if Malin can top it

Seems to be easing here now, by no means calm but compared to an hour ago the wind doesn't seem as intense. Total darkness everywhere so no idea if there's any damage

This is one of the rare times that I wouldn't like to be on that flight. :pac:

dramatic drop in sustained wind, occasional decent gust, but i can't hear much.

Weathercheck or MT, is there anything else to come that will see further increases in wind?

do u think 7.00 readings could be worse?

Would be surprised if it topped that, one of the highest sustained winds ever recorded in the country!

I'm not staying up to find out anyway, think I'll finally resign to my bed. What a night it turned out to be though, fair play to weathercheck and MT for calling it as more severe than the general consensus, I definitely wasn't expecting it to be as bad

got power back :) Fair play to those esb network guys, list of affected areas when i rang them went on for five mins . seems to be dying down a bit and the gusts are not as severe now.

Same as,I didn't think those winds would be recorded.
77.1 mph sustained 104.7mph gust, impressive.:)

I was woken by the sound of the wind sometime before 05:30 - think it was probably the squall line. I haven't heard wind like that in this house before, and I'm halfway certain I haven't heard anything like it ever.

Pressure is finally rising again; dipped to 973.8 and now at 974.2.

Might as well stay up for a bit and see what happens. :)

Yeah, I see that, nice drop in temps too. Didn't get too windy here with that squall (probably too sheltered here by the Dublin Mountains) but I did record a max rain rate of 69.4mm/hr with that squall.

I'd say a good 15mm landed over the Northeast (of the Republic) from about 2 til 6 am. Was insignificant compared to the wind but there was plenty of moisutre in it.

There's still a very good gust out there for anyone who's out in it.

Must be the squall hitting here not because it's just viciously picked up again the last 10 minutes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,516 ✭✭✭irish1967

Yawn. Morning all. Jeez 300 posts since I went to bed. Must have been an interesting night. I'll have a scan through it later. Woke up to serious gusts and a thud about 5.30ish. Seems alright now. I presume worst is over at this stage.

Just spent 20 minutes outside guiding recently blind dog around the garden, nothing going on weatherwise just a little breezy
