    No, I had removed my profile about 10 days ago. I knew because I did a quick search of her username of the site and she popped up.

    I kinda hinted at it on Saturday last but she didn't really engage with me on it.

    I think Ive made up my mind, Ill probably end it pretty soon.

    Hi I better introduce myself here: Im a refugee from AH and Soccer etc forums.
    Im out of a nasty long term relationship early last year.

    I signed up for POF around a year ago and did get to meet some lovely women and go on some mad dates too. But I put no effort into my profile and Id say it looks sh1te:D .

    Ive not signed into any other dating sites as the only ones I came across were the pay type which i was unsure about.

    Anyways I hope to get on a few dates and meet some new people:cool:

    I was going to post the OkGopid video but I'm sure everyone here has already seen it...

    On the topic of weddings and crashing: A friend and I... he a respected playwright and actor, I a respected writer (though neither of us at the time) knew a few lads working at a wedding venue... So, threw on the penguin suits, off up we went, sat at the end of the bar, free beer for the night. When anyone asked we just said we were with a different wedding party and were waiting for our own function room to open.

    Utterly soused we were. Legendary times.

    Is that not a bit harsh? I don't think I would ever end anything with someone without having a proper talk about it, hinting at it is not the same as sitting her down and discussing it properly with her.

    You could be throwing away a good thing over nothing to be honest.

    I wouldn't call it sad, but younger people that age definitely have more opportunities than older lads, if this girl is still in school she should be able to find somebody in there, unless it's an all girls school, then I'm just talking ****e!

    Don't think it's a bad thing at all myself. As there'd be others around 19/20 on it as well.

    All online dating is, is a medium to meet people interested in dating. It doesn't mean anything to do with a lack of a social life. That's to be determined on the individual, not the age nor the medium that they choose to use to meet other people interested in dating.

    Just cause she is on online dating doesn't mean she isn't out living her life or that she has given up on the social scene. :)

    I only use online dating as an aside to socialising with people "in real life". I go out at the weekends and use POF maybe during the week once or twice.

    It's not a case of using POF as an alternative to social life. It should be used in conjunction but not to a point whereby it becomes excessive.

    I have to say, there's a lot of '30' year olds guys on these sites that were 30 a long time ago. Seems like guys lie about their ages too, or time has not been kind to their faces.

    Fair enough. Every single person I've spoken to on POF is on it because they're sick of trying to meet someone in a pub/club, but we're obviously in the minority. Doesn't mean we don't still go out, though!

    I think it's all part of the life cycle of online dating so far. At the start it was considered by the vast majority of people to only be for losers or weirdos. After years as technology and specifically the internet are becoming more mainstream (even the most technophobic people now have iphones) this has lessened the stigma so now it's not considered such a big deal however I do think there is a middle stage where most people on online dating would be older and as you said people who used it after exhausting more "real world" avenues of getting drunk in a pub.

    However I do think it is now into another stage where people are using it completely as an addition to their regular dating/socialising rather than as a replacement, as the younger generation take to technology quicker than the older generation I think it will be pretty "normal" in another couple of years for most late teenagers/early twenties to all be on dating websites in addition to getting ****faced in pubs and openely grinding on the sweaty dancefloor in coppers. :pac:
