I'd like to think every situation should be judged on their own merits and have little time for crass generalisations.

I do agree with an earlier poster, that stamping out social welfare fraud should be top of the list for the government of the day.

If a family can't be repaired the parents shouldn't stay together, it's bad for the children to be exposed to excess fighting and tension. Do you think people in situations like that should be punished because they didn't have a crystal ball and couldn't see what their relationship was going to be like in the future?

That argument above is unfair unless of course the man had a prior history of being like that or had other children who he didn't support which you knew about prior to having kids yourself.

Maybe they shouldnt have kids after two months and get to know each other, people dont become assholes or abusers over night.
