I think religion is important to a society and getting rid of it would be a bad move.

French is a horrible-sounding language. German is much nicer and sounds cleaner. Also the grammar is easier (f*ck you French!!).

Twitter is an annoying piece of cr@p for attention seekers.

I find the Beatles boring. I understand how they contributed to music, I know their music is good, but I just don't personally enjoy it.

In general, music has gone downhill in the last century or so. Classical music is still miles more enjoyable than any of the sh!te around today.

I think that this thread should be stickied along with a "Things that annoy you" thread so that people will be able to tell the difference between the two.

* The issue of Human Rights far trumps that of Animal Rights. Sure, I'm not saying there is not some shocking abuse of animals and that animals should be treated with respect but there a parts of a world where a human being has less rights than a dog in other parts of the world. This is wrong. Sort out the whole issue of human rights first THEN we can look at animal rights.

This deserves a thread all of it's own. I've been meaning to do it on this very issue but I'm a lazy fucker sometimes.

Actually, sometimes I write quite elaborate OP's and then read them and think 'Naaa'

*delete*

people who believe its ok for women to travel to another country to have a termination, or you believe its ok to allow rape victims to have a termination, but not in any other case are hypocritical a**holes. you either agree or you dont, make a choice and stick with it. (i believe it should be allowed in this country, btw!)

Not saying I disagree with you - but if thats your view on it then you would be ok with women having as much unprotected sex as they wanted and just go for an abortion once every three weeks, yeah?

I mean either you agree with abortion, or you don't - you pretty much said yourself there is no middle ground to take, correct?

(I'm not 'pro-life', just contesting your argument)

I believe abortion should be legalised here.

I think there should be a limit on the number of kids dumb people have and smart people should be forced to have big families.

Intelligence is not based purely on genes, but also on circumstances such as availability of educational resources, good role models/teachers, attention, encouragement, a wide range of cultures and opinions etc...

So your opinion makes absolutely no sense.

I know its not soley based on genetics, but its thought that genetics accounts for 50% of a persons intelligence.

It is thought that genetics make up about half of human qualities.
But there again, no one can agree on how much is actually nature, and how much is nurture, so that argument isn't necessarily valid.

I don't see how your idea would benefit mankind at all, not that it would actually make any difference to the general level of intelligence anyway.

I think the PC brigade bleeding heart attitude permeated in recent years enables welfare abuse in our system, especially when it comes to non-nationals/scum bags.
Socialism is great.... until you run out of other people's money.

Did we really get to eighteen pages before someone decided to rant about political correctness? I'm pleased...

I don't think the PC Brigade exists.

- People on boards are know it all's.

Doesnt matter what the subject is. People know everything and you know nothing. Only can speak for myself but if the thread is about something I dont know alot about, I dont post in it. Not for others sadly.

I especially love threads about society. Everyone is so "shrewd"
I personally am starting to wipe my ass with peoples opinions on here.

Besides the nature of the internet breads this. You could have some 18yo talking about how someone should handle a divorce  of course you dont know they are 18 and sure as hell act like they have "experience" with this  .. or some middle class knob acting like he knows what its like to be hard up ...

Pragmatic1, what you're suggesting is eugenics-tastic, plus I've never been convinced that greater intelligence means better people. Intelligent people can be crap people too, negligent, psychotic, anything really, on top of being intelligent.

Well its fairly well established that intelligence has a strong genetic component. Twin studies have been used to confirm this.

You cant see how a smarter population would benefit mankind? Take a look at countries that average near the top for IQ and then contrast that with countries that average near the bottom.

Okay.
I'm not going to say anymore on the topic, as this thread isn't about this.

I do have to say one more thing though - you are wrong! :P
