I have to agree with the troll ;) BF3 is not great for me. Never can find a server with a space if I want to define my searches, give up, go into Quick match, get shot to **** for 20 minutes or so, maybe maybe get one or two kills... is this supposed to be fun? Then I got MW3, and remembered that online is actually fun and that you should actually be able to find and shoot other players. I'm not enough of a nerd to know when a feature has been nerfed in a game :pac: I just play games for fun at the end of the day. If you do start noticing when the devs have changed the shotguns strength by .25 units from BC2, I suggest you spend less time with your computer!

Change your approach to the game, this isn't COD where you'll run around a small map on your own racking up kills with ease. Run around BF3 on your own and you'll get killed, fairly easily at that. Find a clan / 3 friends to form a squad with and play a teamwork orientated game as a team, you'll rack up plenty of points and kills.

I wouldn't waste your own time m8. Some people just hate bf3, because it's not mw3 and they hate mw3, because it did not met theyr expectations.

Those are both different games and for different play styles. I had few games of bf3 today and it was fun, but I was too tired to concentrate so it went down hill after in last game, so I went for some mw3 with spas12 **** and giggle deathmatch. Mindless fun.

Some people are just newer happy bud.

I love the realism in this game - I've never played a multiplayer game before where my character gets so stressed out that he has a heart attack and keels over!

Have to say I'm liking this. Like ARMA II but a million times more refined, actiony and fun.

Things to moan about would be always and forever being on the losing team, sometimes so bad that you can't even get out of your deployment area. Even if my team have a good start, they always loose in the end.

Seriously its like 10 times in a row now that i've been yank on metro. Really need to sort the map out on conquest.

I had my rant about the broken menus and interfaces on another thread, so I'll reserve this for actual gameplay issues.

F2000  Especially AnCapaillMor's F2000  :p I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it.

Sniping: I think being a sniper is T3H GH3Y! I really don't like playing it, I think anyone who does play as a sniper is a big girls blouse too afraid to face their enemy head on like a man. On the odd occasion I pop into Recon Class to indulge in a bit of levelling up and so on, I have to switch to the PP-2000 because despite having had stationary targets in my sights on a sniper rifle and laying down, holding my breath and trying numerous times to adjust for distance and bullet drop and all that, I have not hit a single thing. Now, tbh, I can live with this because sniping is, as I have said, for big girls blouses who're too afraid and dishonourable to face their enemy like men, but something appears to have gone sideways here.

Sniping really is brutal for me at long range.
I must have took 10 shots or more at some lad at a good distance away and adjusted every time, still couldn't get near him and he never moved so I must have been missing by a good bit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,779 ✭✭✭Spunge

I've been noticing the mouse movement is kind of weird. It's not like straight up move here etc. I googled and some people said it is negative mouse acceleration hard-coded into the game.

    Is it just me ??

Take the scope off the likes of the SVD for short range engagements, turns it into a very effective semi auto rifle.

Sniping is a man's game sonny ;)....you need to anticipate their movement, allow for bullet drop etc so only the manliest man can become a sniper...
And I'm not talking about those nooby SVD/MK11/SKS rifles either...a proper bolt action is the only job :)
There's no better feeling that taking out a guy miles away with a sniper rifle and watch bemusedly as he takes it completely personal and then stalks you during the game to his team's detriment. Then you shoot him again and it pisses him off bigtime :D
Any fool and spray and pray but sniping is an art..some can do it..the majority can't and whine about how ghey snipers are :D
It's even better when they're in vent with you :D

Properly used a sniper can be devastating to the other team.
Spot targets for your squad/team as they cap flags, shoot them in the back etc so they're engaging your team with low health etc.
Use the soflam to mark tanks/jets/choppers etc for engineers with javelin and also for pilots with guided missiles.
I absolutely guarantee you that you'll kick the enemies @ss easily ;)

I put the infrared scope on the SVD and use it as a lethally powerful medium/short range rifle. People get so confused with a recon sniper charging around at close range.

Although I then discovered that doing the same thing except with the scar-h as an engineer is even more fun, plus you can blow up tanks. I do find it interesting that we have some people saying snipers are too powerful, and others saying the class is crippled. Methinks it is perhaps not the class that is to blame.

up close with an svd it's grand, if you were actually to go sniping with a bolt action it's crippled.

I can't snipe for **** in this game at long range.I never had any problems with it in BC2.

I'm on ps3 by the way so maybe it is different on pc/xbox.

    I fecking hate mortar pricks...

Played on senna crossing infantry only. Fecking bastard was sitting in his own base and pew pew pew us all game! He got me 5-0 times FFs!!! I couldn't even get close to bastard!

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,137 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

Mortars are outragous and need a nerf, longer cooldown or be removed, no skill, ludicrous.

Alot of weapons and classes need balance too. i'm confident that it will, this isnt MW3, Dice balance their games.

But at the moment there is literally no reason to play Assault. Engineer weapons are as powerful as assault plus they have rockets.

Rockets doing less dmg to players, and engi weapons doing less dmg would be a big bonus for me.

Might not be realistic, but its a game, and engineer is a specialised support class and should be the beefcake of a FPS game.

Assault players revive team mates...thats the reson to play as one.

Mortars are not really as powerful as you seem to believe.

They can be excellent from time to time depending on the situation, but, to get a kill you need to almost hit right on top of the enemy player, splash damage isn't too extreme at all.

    Engineer is best and
    Most versatile class in bf3.

I always pick engineer in smaller servers. I just hate situation when some pricks take tank and faceroll everyone. All you can do is just shake fist with anger if you pick anything but engineer.

Drop few mines in key points - look scumbags burn alive in tanks. Enjoy game again until some prick decides to take tank.

That's why I love infantry only maps now. You still get machinery, but it's more of transports and light machinery. So you can still be alive with any class.

Yeah, but when you learn choke points in maps like senna crossing its just pew pew pew trol trol trololol.

    It's so easily countered though.

Interesting how? I am not support player, so I don't have the only counter for it - mortar.

He was in his own base. Quite deep too. I could not even get him, because as soon as I get up by stairs I get all black screen and warning. I don't even have enough time to find where is he. I get shot.

It was real bitch, but it won't put me off the game. This thing is the only bitching that I have.

Well the other one is op f2000, but I am using it myself too lol.

Yes, you need a mortar to counter, but chances are, someone on your team should have it unlocked.

I started kind of late using the jets and now if I get one at the start of the game I am instantly locked onto and killed just after I get out of the base. Because I haven't unlocked flares yet there's nothing much I can do when I hear the lock-on sound . . . .very frustrating !!

Also god damn those stupid flashlights :D

I have one major complaint in regards to BF3

It is too good and nearly every aspect is perfect - therefore it is taking over my life :(

Find yourself a near empty server on either Operation Firestorm, Kharg or Caspian conquest and just get flying. Found one myself last night and got my first ever kill. Woke everyone in the house too :o Tried it for a few rounds and got a few spots and thankfully it equated to enough points to get IR Flares.

Since then I've tried to take on other jets and get the odd disabled vehicle, but have decided to concentrate on taking down helicopters to finally try and get heatseekers
