You can use your healthy b on nuts, which are healthy fats, not sure about avocado. That's one thing I dislike about the plan though, they should incorporate healthy fats.

I have been, but still craving :pac: It's the one thing I worried about with the plan, but we'll see how it goes

Just use your syns on them. My wife has started to use butter for this reason. Once it's synned and in moderation, you'll be grand

Got some of the 1/2 syn sauasges from http://slimvalleyfreshfoods.com this morning - delicious!! They actually taste like normal sausages. Mallons are ok to be fair but I wasn't a fan of the SW ones at all when somebody brought them to a taster!

Tk do you get stuff delivered from there or did you pick it up yourself? Some of it looks like great value.

I adore the mallons one, they are proper full sausages with little water and packed. Yum !!

I was in Santry park this morning so just drove down but will definetly order off them next time - I'd only gotten stuff in another butchers I use last week so didn't really need anything else! It's free delivery if you spend over €20 and you'd easily spend that because with the deals they have.

Will definitely be checking them out tk, I see they have chicken sausages too, mmmm!

The turkey mince alone is great value. I'm making most of my dishes now with turkey mince instead of beef. Trying to eat a lot cleaner so this would be good value. Think I'll place an order when i get back from holidays. Thanks for the link Tk ☺

Superquinn reduced fat sausages are SO worth 1.5 syns each, for anyone who doesn't like mallons ones.

Used all of my syns on dairy products yesterday and feel so much better. More energy, no cravings.

I do the same Jenny. Butter, avocado, peanut butter much more satisfying than chocolate. I find the rocky Road hifi and chocolate Alpen light bars handy for those cravings too.

I tried almond butter for the first time this week. It's sooo satisfying, feels absolutely decadent and provides a bit of 'good' fat, win win!

I was up 1/2 lb this week although I stuck to the plan but I've got bad oedoma at the moment and know it's fluid retention and not actual fat. It was my birthday yesterday so I ended up eating 7 Ferraro Rocher yesterday and went out for an Indian and had half a bottle of beer. Back on plan today.

As my weight losses have seemed to stall for some reason, I think I will do some SP days from tomorrow till Thursday. I have a few questions!

If I fancy a snack and have some fruit, do I need to have protein as well? Do I have to have protein with my breakfast too as that is when I have my healthy B (cereal)?

I've only ever done SP for 2 or 3 days at a time so I'm no expert but I was never told you had to have S&P together at all times, I would snack away at fruit. Best thing about SP is the extra HEXB!

Just made syn free lemon curd using the recipe another poster kindly shared on thread earlier in the week, it thickened very fast and got a bit lumpy but after putting it through a sieve it is velvet smooth and really tasty! Bit sweet for my liking (and I reduced the sweetener by a third) but should be lovely folded through some fat free Greek yogurt and served with berries and meringue nests for dessert tomorrow :)

I have lost 18 kilo in slimming world and I think it's great. I went from 83 to 65 kilo and now am hoping to finish off at 62 kilo but my dream weight would be 58. It took longer than I would have liked but I did take a few weeks off here and there.

Things that I find hard are... I eat porridge for breakfast, can't bear anything else and I love tea with lots of milk, but after making the porridge and making 2 cups of tea all my healthy extras are used up so no cheese bread or anything remotely handy for lunch , only soup.

Also socialising is hard coz would like a glass of wine, nice restaurant food etc...

I have found that being ultra organised and doing a big shop for the week in a Sunday really helps.

Anyway just wanted to join in the chat coz I can't talk to my friends about this coz too embarrassed.

I always snack on speed fruit or veg, but for meals, I make sure to have speed and protein. Pain in the backside because I really don't like eating much (or anything!) in the mornings, but I'd do Weetabix with strawberries/raspberries, and a couple of poached eggs.

    Edit to add:

My mam bought me some clothes when she was out in new look. For the first time since I started working for the company I'm in, February 2013, I'm wearing a size 14 all over today! :D in only nine weeks, I've gone from a 16/18 on top and an 18 on bottom to a 14 all over :D

Well done on your weight loss, I'm not great at the calculations but I think that's the guts of three stone? Wow! Nothing to be embarrassed about there. I bet your friends are really proud of you for putting in all that hard work too.
I totally agree with you about doing a big shop and being organised - my fridge isn't big enough for one weekly shop but I'm lucky enough to be able to fit in two trips per week. It's great to hardly ever need a 'top up shop'.
I wonder could you try making up your porridge partly with a free yogurt or partly with water, leaving you with more milk for your hot drinks? Maybe try overnight oats for a change, which would leave you with your entire A choice to play with, you could go half milk and half cheese?

I stopped having porridge oats a few weeks ago and started having quinoa porridge instead because my weight loss had stalled. I just make up quinoa as normal and then have it with fruit, yogurt (my favourite is liberte natural) and sometimes a dash or vanilla or sweetener. I'm probably going to jinx myself but I've lost 3.5lbs over 2 weeks after switching to quinoa instead. Gaining back the hex b has been fantastic because I'm having a variety of things now for lunch instead of the same porridge for breakfast and salad for lunch during the week - I might have a roll instead, soup and a roll (I half the soup and roll with my mum :p) or have 2 cereal bars for a treat.
I'm a little worried about my weigh-in tomorrow because I haven't been able to eat enough speed the last week and a half. I'm going to be getting crowns and the dentist suggested whitening my teeth now if I ever wanted to because I won't be able to whiten the crowns! I have sensitive teeth so it's been uncomfortable at times. The few days it was very sore and I tried to eat say a pear but couldn't have now put me off eating them at all - which I know makes no sense! :p

Hi dee mc hi tk123. Thanks for your words of encouragement. Yes I hear what your saying about your teeth. I suppose life goes on and other parts if your body need attention and are going to distract, all you can do is your best. Let us know how you get on anyway. My weigh in is Thursday, haven't been in s while do I have no idea how this is going to go. Looking forward to your updates.

Hello there! I joined SW online last Monday. I haven't lost any weight but I broke out on Saturday night/Sunday morning. So annoyed!! I have 1.5 stone to lose and am tired of yo-yoing that weight for the last few years. I feel like I'll never lose it and keep it off. :-(

It can take a couple of weeks to really get your head around the plan so don't be too hard on yourself.
Are you sure you are following it right? I think joining online is diff than joining a class and you don't get the plan explained properly so maybe we can help you out on something?
Are you having 1/3 speed with every meal? Measuring your healthy extras and counting your syns?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,813 ✭✭✭Wesser

Yes it does take time to get your head around it several weeks or months to be honest but I still lost weight while I didn't have my head fully around it!! The key is to be prepared. Have all the food bought and ready to go. Be organised, dig out lunch boxes and fill them up. If you follow the instructions you will loose weight. Good luck!
Also I would recommend you join a group if you can.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17 Boolean

Thanks both for your replies. I was definitely following it but I wasn't commited enough on Sat/Sun. Also, I felt like I was eating far too much (I like my portions) though I stuck to all the free foods and 1/3 rule. Here's hoping I'll go down a bit by next week. There isn't a group near me unfortunately. The online site is pretty rubbish to be fair.

Hi Everyone, I love Slimming world! I just looked back and I haven't been on this Forum since I joined SW (1 year 4 months ago) but I lost almost 2 stone(in 4 months) and then got to my target weight a year ago and have stayed at target ever since - I have never been happier!!! I am now also a fitness instructor - never in my life did I think of myself getting into fitness but Slimming World pushed in the right direction! I am now teaching a really fun low impact fitness class on mini trampolines called Boogie Bounce BBXDublin, its fantastic for Body Magic! Do many of you do Body Magic or is more the diet? I did a lot of walking when I was loosing the most weight!

GAH! I wish I had of put in today as a holiday.. Normally I go straight from work so it's just part of Monday but I find on BH it kind of takes away from it being a holiday!! I end up taking the dogs out in the morning as normal but then the rest of the afternoon is just spent killing time until 5:30! >_< Does that even make sense (lol)?

EDIT - got my 1 stone award!! :p Feel a bit bad not staying for image therapy(!)
