    oh just shut up Richard.
+ 1,343,231. I'm sick of the gloating "I told you so" when shows get into trouble due to ratings. We had the same sh*t on the "Stargate" forum.

We know the show was in trouble - let us enjoy it instead of the equivalent of a little child hopping from foot to foot, a big smirk on its face going "nah nah nah I told you so nah nah nah nah".

A show like this, much like "Arrested Development", is clearly wasted on a general audience. Once again proving ratings have nothing to do with quality.

Never mind the unjust cancellation of Firefly.

Now I know how my death is going to be staged.

Awful news, I feel like I've just been kick-punched.

There is news that all 22 episodes will be shot/aired this season.
That puts it at 71 episodes, so likely Sony will want to hit the 88ish episodes needed for syndication to be viable.

I don't think that this is the end of the world for Community and perhaps putting a clonker of a show like Whitney in will show NBC that Community has potential.

EDIT: Not that I'm saying it has a chance to live on NBC - but we can hope that another network would take interest.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Dan Harmon has said if it's cancelled by NBC, that's the end of the show, it won't be offered to other networks/cable. Can't find a link to back that up though :/

Damnit this is bad news, but if it is cancelled at least they have time to give it a proper ending, as I am sure they must be thinking this may very well be the last season.

Would be nice to get one more, but its unlikely I think.

Might not be as bad as we fear..

    http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/whats-alan-watching/posts/nbcs-mid-season-schedule-benches-community-kills-prime-suspect-brings-back-30-rock
"Community" is a mess ratings-wise, but it's one of NBC's few shows that still draws largely unabashed love from critics (and from its shrinking but passionate group of fans). Pulling it off the schedule temporarily given the ratings is understandable; pulling it off the schedule while leaving "Whitney" on is not.
"Community" isn't canceled. There will still be a bunch of episodes to air for the rest of this season, and while I try to look at the show as living on borrowed time - it's somewhat miraculous we'll be getting around 70 episodes, mimimum, of such an idiosyncratic, brilliant comedy - given the way NBC's fortunes have gone lately, I can easily see the new product failing so utterly that NBC pulls a "Chuck" and decides to stick with a known, albeit small, audience for a beloved show. (It also may help that "Community" is produced by Sony, which jumped through hoops to get FOX to keep making "Til Death" episodes for the syndication money a few years back.)

That's a shame, Sony has a very good relationship with ABC and I'm sure they'd love to snag a show like Community for their line-up.

"Do you want to live in a world where Whitney remains on NBC’s schedule but Community doesn’t?"

    No, no I do not.

I blame Whitney Cummings for this. But then again I blame her for everything.

The noise Abed makes here is exactly what I did when I heard the news last night.

Just goes to show, for a comedy to be successful, it has to appeal to Richard ..the lowest common denominator.

The ratings measurement is an archaic way of gauging popularity. It's an outdated dinosaur. Utter utter ****e like two and a half men gets 10's of millions of viewers weekly and all it has are fart jokes and eye candy.

If I want eye candy i watch porn, or read nuts. If I want comedy.....I now have to watch *shudder* Whitney....according to NBC.

It's like arrested development all over again.

    NBC Britta'd the schedule

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,988 ✭✭✭SirDelboy18

That is truly sickening news. Its so frustrating that NBC mismanage the bulk of their shows. Then you have pathetic comedies such as 2 and a half lumps of complete ****e which somehow still remain on the air.

It is a better product IMO than the current 4 Thursday comedies, and I say that watching 3 of them ( 30 Rock, The Office, Up All Night ).

Its like a part of me is dying.

We're clearly living in the darkest timeline. As further evidence, I've seen a lot of people growing evil goatees this month.

I can't believe this is in danger of getting cancelled. It's consistently one of the funniest things on tv. People are ****ing stupid to not watch it.

There's a Save Greendale campaign on Facebook...
Fan campaigns kept Chuck running for 5 seasons on NBC, which started with the Save the Buy More...

Even better, there's a whole Save Greendale website...

Crap. Imma have to get ahead and watch this show fast so I can get hipster cred for being one of the people watching it when it was on the air.

I really, really hope that message was typed on a Mac in Starbucks while you took a break from writing your screenplay.

Is Community actually a hipster show? This doesn't bode well for me, I'm dangerously close to the edge as it is hipster-wise.

Joel McHale is number 8 in the Sexiest Men Alive poll... Maybe that will make more people start watching :P
