Way to many JRPGS and NES games there
I'd love to show some of them feckers a c64 or an Amiga.
And then beat them to death with it

That was my thought too about what's on the list. It's not really a valid list of anything really.

@Retr0gamer: I agree to a certain extent with your response on the validity of the list, but we'll have to just disagree on LA Noire. The mere fact it sounds just like any 40's noire proves it achieved it's goal (that sentence does make sense I swear!). Not only that but the entire soundtrack is utterly mesmerising. Some of the vocal tracks are right up there with anything produced in those genres en mass today.

On a personal note, I stand by my admiration for the LA Noire soundtrack and it's qualities. It sure as hell beats listing every Final Fantasy or JRPG title you can think of. Not to discredit some of those pieces, they truly are fantastic works. It just reeks of fanaticism and if the list was truly a compilation of favourite gamer soundtracks then it would be far more varied rather than just clumps of the same titles.

Saw this on Kotaku, and seemed appropriate:

Do I need motion plus? If that's the case I'll just get OoT

LA Noire: would have been great if the lead writer had any idea how to write a mystery that wasn't filled with ludicrous amounts of plotholes. The most ambitious failure of the year.

I also think the fact that they were basically slave-driving their 'employees' makes it even harder to respect the game.

Sure, there were things to like, but boy I was pissed off when I finished that game. Ending had the artistic delivery of a fart.

Nothing annoys me more than god awful writing in videogames that gets credited as being amazing. I'm looking at you Heavy Rain. I suspect that LA Noire will fall into that category.

It's not the worst, and having a game based around emotional reaction is a brave one.

But the first time you're forced to declare someone 'guilty', despite the fact all signs point to a bigger conspiracy (and, obviously, there is one), there's something inherently wrong with the system they've implemented. There's at least two or three cases where you have to charge someone on the flimsiest of basis, just because the rigid 'one case, one perp' design isn't open to experimentation, despite the fact the overall narrative directly contradicts it. Infuriating because some elements are so encouraging. It just falls apart when a game reliant on the gamer's logic actively punishes thinking outside of the rules.

I'll still give it a go when the 'complete' edition or whatever comes out.

It won't be beating Pheonix Wright :)

It'd be hard to better Phoenix Wright

The similarities to Phoenix Wright are certainly there.

The one thing I would praise LA Noire for is having impressive graphics that are vital to the gameplay, rather than mere eye candy. Crysis 2 can make their dull locations look as pretty as they want, but there's no real benefit to it other than showing off. Hopefully more games will follow in LA Noire's footsteps and design games that are actually reliant on graphical tricks.

I know, some of the videos are unreal. Don't know if this link will work. My mam is currently stuck there as she's a manager and she said it's mental.

Sadly, I was supposed to be starting work in Dundrum tomorrow, don't know if it'll be open!

I should be good next week. Will be super busy all this week getting a bunch of funding applications ready for Friday.

Dundrum is going to end up looking like Rapture from Bioshock at this rate...
