I'm ashamed to say that everytime I've put on Akira to watch I've fallen asleep half way through :o must remedy that soon!

On another note, is clay fighter 63 1/2 any good?

Any idea where I could get my Saturn modded with the switch? Also how much would it cost to get a Snes done? See them selling on eBay for about 75 euro including post.

It very much is - they go as far as subliminally inserting the hate mail / graffiti into various parts of the film (handily subtitled in the DVD version as "DIE ANNO"). I wrote a spoiler heavy blog about it if anybody's curious on one fanboy's anti-fanboy interpretation :P Just a film I feel particularly compelled to defend, because I honestly feel it's one of animation's (and, heck, cinema's) most astonishing and underappreciated achievements.

In other news, I've had to suffer two full days without having time to play Dark Souls :( I did finally start up 999. It's kind of weird playing a novel. The glorious new Murakami novel has, however, already distracted me away from it.

    NO EXCUSE, MC FLY BOY!

We've been assured by the good people at horrorthon that the screening is subtitled.

That movie was ok, from what I remember. Obviously wasn't memorable :P

I heard about places opening at midnight for it, I wish I could have gone. There's a voucher for books online but I'll be ages to read the new one. There's two Banana Yoshimoto books to read and Moshi Moshi Harajuku is being translated now as well and a few others to read. Plus Children of the Paper Crane is on the way

Watched "Your Highness" last night, fell asleep about 2/3rds the way through, I take it that's where all the good jokes are? Because there's feck all evidence of an gags in the parts of the movie I was awake for.
I thing Monsieur Ultimate said it best but to paraphrase him it's like The Princess Bride with sh1te knob-jokes.

Last films I saw with the wife at the cinema were Tron Legacy and Drive Angry 3D.

That said, she makes me sit through crap romance straight to video/tv movies on True Crime or CBS Action etc.

As lads we all have to do 'crap film chosen by yer bird' duty every so often.

I just stare at the screen and in my head I'm actually thinking about Darius Burst. :)

Oh yeah, hate when the other half has movie preference. We will end watching some Steven Segal movie or just summit with big explosions. Made me go see the expends in cinema, now that was painful.

Your Highness was utter tripe. Using the classic as Princess Bride in the same sentence should be a punishable offence, you will be made play Dragons Lair!

I was half considering a Banana Yoshimoto book a while ago (mainly because I love her name), but the wikipedia page for her temporarily turned me off: "Critics think that much of her work is superficial and commercial". I will get around to Kitchen eventually, though. I do have this almost subconscious obsession this year to read as many 500 page plus sprawling novels as I can: Infinite Jest (that was like a three monther), Cloud Atlas / Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, American Gods, Skippy Dies etc... IQ84 fits nicely within that criteria. Murakami is my favourite author, and it's heaven for fans so far. Definitely more in line with Kafka on the Shore, and that's probably my favourite of his.

Credit where credits due: I think said paraphrase is attributable to the good Sir DinoRex the First :)

I haven't seen Your Highness, and have no intentions to. It depresses and confuses me that director David Gordon Green went from this:

    To this:

Almost as bad as Michel Gondry :(

Oh and just to throw more fuel on the fire in relation to some of the above comments - if you haven't spent a load of money on a crap game just because it's rare and you want the prestige of owning it, you're not a real videogame collector in the true sense of the word.

Thats pretty hardcore. In my view too hardcore, but anyway :)

Still though, I'm sticking to my quality over quantity philosophy as it has served me well as a player / collector / player-xollector or whatever the eff I am ;)

Ah c'mon "Your Highness" isn't that bad, it's got some funny lines:

Mallrats?! The poor bastard child of Chasing Amy and Clerks. And nowhere near as good as either :(

I'll stick to Jay&Silent Bob, especially the Affleck/Damon scenes, "Dead Hooker In Ben Afflecks Trailer"....

As for movies no one else liked, I loved Speed Racer, saw it twice on the big screen, and my companions each time lambasted my taste in movies :(
    Yet, I reckon it's class!

Same happened the other evening, watched Blade Runner, after hyping it up, and my brother in law told me I was off my rocker for loving such a boring film!
    Same went for 2001!!!

I think I may be mixing in the wrong circles!

Well, lets say i wasnt sober when i watched it the first time with some friends, and it was the funniest film id ever seen, we where rolling around laughing at it. In the cold light of day though i take your point, its not as funny..

Chasing Amy and Clerks are alright. Everything else I've seen of Kevin Smith's has been a pile of cock.

Ah it was an attempt at trolling, I really don't think that at all. :)

I do collect a lot of games purely on their rarity though. Some people don't get that, but it's kind of outside of the gaming aspect. My mam got me hooked on collecting stamps (and then on to rare ones) when I was 5 or 6 so it just transferred over into gaming a bit later. (I don't still collect stamps, I swear!)

Im a big fan of his i have to say, not necessarily the films even, I liked Clerks, Mallrats and all, Clerks 2 i actually enjoyed a lot, and in fairness Zack and Miri make a porno is hilarious.

But i listen to the smodcasts, jay and silent bob get old is brilliant and theres some other great pods on his website, tell em steve dave, smodcast, etc.

also his evening with dvds are great too, very funny.

Guess im a Kevin Smith fanboy! :pac: he is in Vicar street in Feb next year with Jason Mewes. and yes, tickets are booked. :o

You liked Zack and Miri make a porno? Just goes to show how varied peoples tastes are. I thought it was one of the worst films I've ever seen. Mallrats was genius compared to that. And this is coming from someone who doesn't really like Mallrats!

Yeh I thought it was brilliant! Im not mad on Cop Out, Dogma or even chasing amy to be honest. But i loved that one. I watched Nacho Libre when it came out and thought it was hilarious, but ive been slated a lot over that one too, although one of the lads who hated it loved white chicks so i dunno who is worse!

It starts out okay but then takes itself too seriously and becomes ****.

To be honest I think everything after Clerks has been a huge disappointment.

The 'An Audience With's' are great though.

I'm sure its old news, & has likely slipped under my radar...but when you clear OoT on the 3DS it unlocks the Master Quest mode  At least Ninty managed to cram it in somehow.
