Hi can any one me please as I have 2 questions

1 I cant get any internet access web pages or emails. I transfered my o2 sim card that has a data bundle but cant get a connection. Is there some settings I need to change

2 I saved all my contacts from my old phone to address book in windows, how do I transfer them accross?

Also I got a black silicone case and every bit dust or fluff sticks to it so I would advise against it.

Export all your contacts into outlook firstly,
Then export all your contacts from outlook to a csv file.
Then, I imported all my contacts into my gmail account.
Set up your gmail account on the LG, and all contacts will be auto imported.
    Linky with walkthrough
(I think someone else earlier posted this also!)

BTW, I'm the proud new owner of the LG since yesterday!

    Ordered last Tuesday, received today

    Installed zune and updated phone
    Installed touchxperience.

Tried to dev unlock phone as per antivirus instructions
In the engineer mode I edit reg

when I hit query I get

    hkey_classes_root\\\comm\security\lvod" instead of 0

I set the sub_path as \Comm\Security\LVMod I also removed the \ so that its

    hkey_classes_root\comm\security\lvod but still the same

Also how do I remove apps and also set the phone so it doesn't turn off every minute.
Can I import phone numbers from the sim aswell?

To change the screen time out go to "Settings"->"lock & Wallpaper" and change the screen time out there.

To Import Sim contacts go to "Settings"->"Applications"->"People" and select "import SIM contacts"

    EDIT:

The problem with your unlock error is your in the wrong root path, your in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT you should have changed that to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

1.Open the MFG app and use the password to access it.

2.Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Settings -> Edit Registry

3.Set your ROOT PATH to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"

4.Set your input path to "\Comm\Security\LVMod"

5.Set your input key to "DeveloperUnlockState" and set to DWORD

6.Hit Query. Output result should return a "0". If it does continue.

7.Set your input data box to "1" and hit SET. Output result should be 1

I got it working, and done the other steps. Touchxperiece seems buggy to me. Do you need to register to get working?

It's working fine for me but I'm a beta tester so I'm running a newer version. Have you tried to install any apps yet?

    Try installing the Flash light

    You can do that?

Coming from an iPhone with Cydia and Installous, I was begining to think that might never happen :)

There are tools out there that allow you to overclock your phone if its unlocked (though how advisable this is- is debatable........)

You can set up tethering, copy files to it, change ring tones to anything you like, use it as a mass storage device, install different Roms, etc.. There's lots of things you can do but for all the info you need have a look at the xda Windows Phone 7 forums.

No draw backs to unlocking the LG Optimus 7

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,395 ✭✭✭AntiVirus

For those who have unlocked ther LG's here a handy list from XDA for some Registry tweaks

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907971

but its a bit of a pain using the LG registry editor, entering the password, navigating to the editor option and then having to manual enter the entries. Pain in the arse

Now that your phone is unlocked you can install the registry app and just press your way to the entry you want to edit :D

See!!! I'm not crazy!!! I think the gel cases are the best as they don't attract dust at all!

I can't seem to install XAP's using Windows Phone Device Manager. It also takes ages to connect to my phone and half the things don't show up, ie Batteries' charge.

    I'm on:
    OS version: 7.0.7392
    Firmware version: 1.0.7.10
    Hardware version: 1.0.0.0

Maybe the unlock didn't work for me?

You don't need the Windows Phone Device Manager at all. Download the Windows Phone Developer Tools from the link above. Use the instructions in the link below

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff769512(v=vs.92).aspx

Hold on a sec!! Just check your app list to see if you have an app in there called TouchXperince. If you do run that and then connect to Windows Phone Device Manager

Make sure you've unlocked the phone, then install the Windows Phone Device Manager. That should install an app onto your phone called TouchXperience. If its not there then your phone might is be locked.

EDIT: You must install .net 4 and Windows Developer tools, you can download them from Microsoft form the links i posted above.

I don't, I thought Windows Phone Device Manager was used to install it?

I followed the second guide you put up to unlock it? Maybe I did it wrong, but I can't see where.

Have you installed .net 4 and the windows developer tools? You need to install those to be able to install Windows Phone Device Manager.

Download the Flashlight app and use the Windows Developer Tools to deploy it to your phone: Use the instructions below. This will tell us if your phone is unlocked

    Yip,

How to Re-Lock your unlocked LG Optimus 7 Steps:

1.Open the MFG app and use the password to open it.

2.Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Settings -> Edit Registry

3.Set your ROOT PATH to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"

4.Set your input path to "\Comm\Security\LVMod"

5.Set your input key to "DeveloperUnlockState" and set to DWORD

6.Hit Query. Output result should return a "1". If it does continue.

7.Set your input data box to "0" and hit SET. Output result should be 0

    8.Your phone is now locked.

It didn't. Does that mean it wasn't unlocked? It's returning 1094387816.

EDIT: No, the flashlight app didn't work.

It is returning a 1, its just followed by a few other numbers ;-) That number's fine just continue on and set your input to 0 and press set. Hit query and it should then return 0

I'll just lock it and try it all again.
