    A number of reasons.
    1) I wanted to do something on what is normally a quiet weekend for the city, bring in additional business. I met a huge amount of people who had travelled especially for the festival, and were staying in hotels and b+bs around the city.
    2) A Zombie party at halloween will never get the national press we got for the city in the last month. The amount of positive press coverage we generated is something I'm very proud of, and hopefully portrayed Limerick as somewhere fun and interesting to go to, not just the usual negative coverage. We got coverage in The Irish times, examiner, independent, mirror, on newstalk, today fm, spin south west, and a plug on the Late Late. try getting that for a party in a pub.
    3) Too close to halloween, and people just want to wear their own fancy dress, not zombies, and the theme is gone.
    4) We had over 1000 people on Bedford row last night. In the LASHING rain, which definitely effected our numbers. It'd want to be a big bar.
    5) WE had several events over the weekend, including over 100 people at our movie screening on Friday night. A single party in a single bar is just not comparable. Next year we'll be bigger again, with guest authors and speakers.

The idea was to create a new festival, that benefited the city, created good news stories, and raised money for charity. For our first year, with absolute zero budget, I think we can call it a success on all counts.

Fair play to all of ye that did the hard work, I went down to Bedford Row last nite for a look and I was so vvvv impressed. Didn't stay to see the shuffle cos of the rain but I thought the whole thing looked soo impressive

I cut out all the rest of your post because you used this phrase for just one part . You should be very proud of everything you did to make this weekend a big success . Well done and congratulations .

Such a shame I missed this but my 12 year old nephew was there for a bit and got some snaps. (he is getting into photography these last few weeks) Who was the zombie who was in a petrol station on the Ballysimon Rd? I ask as I was working there that night and he was telling me how it went, just wanted to know if he was a member of boards.

We should have newspaper coverage today.

The zombie in the petrol station was me, on way home to feed my poor puppy between the walk and after party!!

    Fair play to you Zurpoh.

It's not my scene, and I was pretty sure that you would end up holding it in a phonebox on William St (I think I said as much on here) , but congrats on what seems to have been a brilliant event, hopefully you will have the snowball effect for next year, and the fact that you have already held one successful event, more sponsors etc will be willing to come on board next year.

How come we never hear of the mummy or wereworlf apocalypse? Like zombies, mummys also have a distinctive gait to them. Could we organise something around that? Do I even need to make the obligatory €10million reference? :p

P.S. Well done to all involved on a successful zombification of the city :)

    Take out the
    &type=1&theatre
part of the code and it should work.
