Ya SR is spose to be mental but they want to make it a good mental. Although having 4 player co-op would be a great craic! maybe in SR4!

Ya, really hope SR3 gets the respect it deserves and won't just be written off as a 'GTA clone'. I'm mad for a Johnny Gat bobblehead now to go along with my Vault Boy bobblehead!

Saints Row is a game about having the craic the mission demo said it all really but I am worried about the release window that people will buy Assassins Creed,Batman,Skyrim, Uncharted,Halo HD & even games that will still be selling the likes of Gears,FIFA & MW3/BF3.

The video of that one mission is better that all of GTA4 put together.

Can't wait for this to come out :)

To be honest I'm a little worried that this game may be a little too ridiculous. I mean I'm the sort of person that likes realism. Yeah things like jetpacks are fine but spaceships? If I want a scifi game I'll go elsewhere. Realism is what made me love GTA IV and I know many didn't like it for just that reason. Each to their own I guess.

I read before that the devs working on this had a rule. When someone said an idea was 'too rediculous' then they had to put it in the game haha

Trailer for Killbane, the head of the Mexican Wrestler gang. I really hope the Mexican Wrestling part is gameplay and not a cutscene!

Dunno where y'all are getting spaceships from... that's the vertical take-off jet in the image, from one of the first gameplay trailers released.

Definitely working this into my end of year gaming budget. BF3, SR3, UC3, PES and F1 are now my only definite purchases

I don't think I'd like GTA to go down this route tbh, the last DLC was very close to what I would like from the game with maybe a more expansive and fresh map, not overly ridiculous but still on the borders of realism.

I agree, saints row is just an out and out ridiculously fun game.
But GTA should at least try to be serious like in san andreas but the micromanagement of your cousins social life. **** off!

I dunno, GTA: SA had an Area 51 secret government base, casino loan-sharks and hoverpacks plus fighter jets and monster trucks and that was brilliant.

I wouldn't mind if they brought back some sillyness.

Yeah but all those things are fairly realistic. They exist. Hover bikes with machine guns and Mexican wrestler gangs on the other hand, don't think so. I'm not saying it's not funny, it is. It's just that it completely changes the kind of game you are playing.

Well you know sillyness within reason, there was some back story with people dying and betrayals. Saints row 2 had little back story and little reason to kill so many people, but thats what makes it great

GTA:SA had the perfect mix of sillyness and a good story-driven game, I think. The fun factor was great and the plot was very good.

GTA4 had a great story with some very good characters but bowling with Roman and helicopter flights with Brucie (who was great, in fairness!) didn't really help the fun factor much.

Saints Row was kind of the opposite, loads of fun side missions with spraying shíte, insurance fraud, base-jumping and even a UFO to mess around with but the story was fairly run of the mill stuff.

Hopefully SR3 or GTA5 can strike the balance that GTA:SA had.

completely agree, they came very close in TBoGT imo, just needed a fresher map but the likes of the dragonbreath AA12 and the miltary helicopter they introduced were brilliant additions and another brilliant character in Yusuf. If they can bring that to Vice City or San Andreas updated in the next GTA (doubt it'll be called GTA5) then I'll be very happy.

My save game got lost when I got my new console but I may restart because I enjoyed it so much and for a single player campaign that's an achievement for me because I tend to get bored after a while with single player these days.

Much as I liked GTA:SA I think it had one massive downfall that really took away from it, that Saints Row and GTA 4 both got right.

In GTA:SA the map was just too big, there was a lot of wasted space and from what I remember long trips from a to b later on. The variety of locations and things to do were ace but I lost the feel of older GTA games where you knew every side street for dodging the heat :p

I thought the opposite Calex. I loved the huge open world of San Andreas. My favourite part of that game was the journey. Going from the hood to downtown, redneck country with mt. chiliad, san fran for some drivers school, up to the desert for some area 51 and onto vegas for some gambling. Felt like an epic road trip.

In GTA 4, I hailed taxis whenever I could, I just found the map very boring.

Ah like I said the locations were ace !!!!!! just a lot of unused space inbetween but guess it has to be padded out to be realistic. You know what I mean? like from down town to the green fields to the base jumpy hill to the strip there was a huge amount of open ground. think it would have felt better with being about 1/5 or a quarter more compact. The map was nearly the same size as fallout 3 now I come to think of it.

It's a little personal niggle for an other wise perfect and again imo unsurpassed game in it's field............... Vice City was better though!!!!!!!! :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,576 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

aaahhhhhhh Vice City, tearing down a neon strip in a porche listening to (insert epically brilliant 80's song here). Good times, good times....

They're going to need an awful lot to balance out the insanity that we've seen in the SR3 trailers :P I do hope there is some reasonable storyline (I don't have huge expectations since I'm buying the game primarily for the over-the-top fun element :P), just as long as it doesn't come at the expense of the craziness :o
Felt like an epic road trip.
Avoiding speeding vehicles on the Las Venturas highway and coastal roads of San Fierro while riding a motorycle down the wrong side of the road? Good times :D
