Check the last post from Lewis and my signature below for hints on whats happening :D

    People are either
    1. Happy with 10.1 and therefore no longer dropping in for updates/help
    2. No longer satisfied with 10.1 or bored waiting for a new version so jumping ship to something else
    3. Getting rid of their SGS and upgrading to the SGS II. (My case!!)
    Ben

or 4. Never liked 10.1 and started using Ficeto's base JVP, currently on JVQ. JVQ is excellent but now looking in cyanogen mods direction....

I haven't used cynogen mod at all. Any of you got any experience with it? Good or bad?

    Check out Darky's own forum.
    10.1 is old old news!!
2.3.4 is out. 2 versions so far - JVP and JVQ.

Both great but JVQ is fast. Faster than any other ROM I've ever flashed.
I flashed Ficeto's odexeed version and then JKay's theme from XDA.
Also flashed ZSJV5 modem. Battery life is great. Speed is great. Flash it quickly and you won't regret it!!!

Which jkay theme did you flash? i am going on holidays tomorrow, so maybe it isnt wise to do this tonight. Ohwell I will.

I seriously can't remember how to do this.

Eh go to darky rom config, click wipe?
Then simply download the tar and flash it via odin?
    Thats it? :s
Sorry for the annoying questions? But where do you get the ZSJV5 modem?
Wait - does this work with darkys EE. I'm so confussed

    Ok.
    Disable lagfix.
Flash JVP via Odin. Tick Re-Partition.
Also flash Dark Core Kernel 2.7.3, either via Odin as a PDA or download SGS Kernel Flasher from the market and flash via that.
    Enable lagfix.
Copy Ficetos JVQ to internal SD Card.
Boot into recovery and do a factory reset and wipe cache and wipe Dalvik cache.
Flash JVQ via CWM. Be sure to have lagfix enabled before you flash JVQ.

    JKay Deleuxe Theme here

Then delete apps as per post #791 by PogMoThoin

Modems here. . I find ZSJV5 very good.

Be sure though to read Ficeto's instructions incase I have made any errors above.

You don't need the other modem yet. I'll post a link when I get home to my computer.
Thank you very much, will do this as soon as I get home and get my phone charged

I didn't try it yet but it looks very good. There are a few bugs with it yet for Galaxy S including an issue with the camera I believe. Ill be trying it once this is sorted.

One thing before you flash JVQ. The theme will make the browser laggy. All themes on JVQ do AFAIK. Just use another browser like Boat Browser or whatever

Yeah thats where it was getting stuck. Removed the battery and reflashed again. That was after a couple of reentering the battery

Edit - Still waiting for the phone to come back on...sweating here!!

Don't know what could have happened.
-Is lagfix disabled when flashing kernel?
-Need to have Odin open before connecting the phone

    - remember to enable lagfix then before flashing JVQ. JVQ flash via CWM

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭lewis

Let it do its thing, the last thing you want to do is interrupt it while Odin is flashing......

Is`nt DC 2.8 packed with the latest JVQ?

If not use SGS Kernel Flasher.

    Have all the following done:

    Ok.
    Disable lagfix.
Flash JVP via Odin. Tick Re-Partition.

Except for the last line, phone is taking forever to come back on.

Edit - reflashing it again, still taking ages. Got any ideas lewis? Just wait?

    Cheers for the help btw

Dude, relax, I can picture you there now, sweating like a whore on a good night, let it do its thing, remember your flashing a whole new ROM, give it time, if you start interrupting it your asking for trouble.

I flashed themes that take nearly 20 minutes to boot up.
Only time you should be acting on something if its still trying to boot up over an hour.

An hour? Feck me, I would be nothing but skin and bones, everything else would have left my body!! :(

Lagfix needs to be on when flashing JVQ. Otherwise phone won't boot.
