I doubt it unless you catch the virus off another person. You cannot get flu through atmospheric conditions.

Does the really heavy cold not kill the virus ?

Might just be something the mother always said to me , A good cold spell to kill the germs !

If that was the case Siberia would be the healthiest place in the world and the gulags would have been health spas ;)

Kills some germs (some bacteria) but plenty can survive inside people and inside homes. Can't be gotten rid of that easily!

Could the weather actually be more boring at the moment?

Nothing on the radar, nothing on the satellite, and the text on met.ie reads:

There are no warnings in operation.

Mild and humid this evening and tonight with mist and fog patches. Most places will stay dry though, with just some patchy drizzle. Some clear spells will develop also.

Perfect for repairing broken water pipes and fixing potholes. I dont really see the attraction of sleeping on airport floors or living without indoor plumbing myself but each to their own!

If we do get another prolonged cold spell in early January there will be a serious financial cost from creaking infrastucture, roads filled with potholes, rescheduled Christmas events in early-mid January being cancelled thus depriving the hotel & restaurant businesses of any Christmas benefit, etc.

The weather will do whatever it pleases but I'd doubt that ME will be sounding the alarm bells too loudly until they are very very sure that we are going to get another round of snow & ice.

We had to turn off the power so we could go in and fix the weather machine.

About to turn it back on again now ...
