A couple of inches of snow outside my house here near Aughrim in Wicklow. Still falling heavily amid regular lightning flashes and thunder rolls.

looking at the met eireann radar that looks a fairly organised band on the east coast! hopefully it doesn't fragment and may reach down cork! clutching at straws i know! just had a snow flurry though so at least technically there was snow...!

Well done darkman, you are quite the genius and we all bow to your superior knowledge! :pac: But what's this about April? Do enlighten us.

Assuming it was proper snowflakes and not hail that fell in Bray then I have no problem admitting I was wrong - this isn't a competition like you seem to think! While you were up all night I was getting a good night's sleep and am happy to confirm that I woke up to a 1cm covering this morning, and it was snowing lightly a while ago.

It was a mix of graupel and snow at Dublin Airport last night, but in the midst of it all they DID have a rain report!! ;):D:D

As I said yesterday I'd expect the snowline to stay at the coast today, but I still wouldn't be surprised to hear of some rainy reports before the coldest uppers set in later. And if I'm wrong, no big deal - it won't ruin my Saturday! ;)

With all the snow reports there doesn't seem to be much forecasting going on this morning, how are things looking longer term, any sign of a breakdown on the FI charts or is it snowmageddon until Christmas?!

    Thanks.

Su any chance on the charts of a more organised widepsread snow event (i.e. down south as well!) showing in the charts? MT in his daily forecast has mentioned a low spreading west tomorrow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭WesternZulu

The one time I don't want it to snow, have to drive from Galway to Drogheda tomorrow...looks like it's going to be a nightmare :(

Please snow Gods leave a window tomorrow afternoon for a nice thaw to kick in and it can snow all it wants after that then.

Maybe you should ask darkman!! :pac:

I haven't seen the latest runs so MT's forecast would be more up to date. The 18Z GFS was showing the low crossing the Irish Sea, bringing onshore winds to the southwest and SW winds to the east, which wouldn't help things here. But for Munster it did have the lowest thicknesses, so if that were to happen then I'd say today's east could be tomorrow's south!

Is this the thread for future events and forcasts about what the GFS etc are rolling out? All these threads are having reports posted in them, Im getting confussed. I would like to see what the next week is looking like, what thread should I be looking at?

have you become gollum-esque since yesterday's event;)

i think in a ene feed we'll struggle to get any snow for a while. we could get some leftovers if a low or trough were to push westwards

well, perhaps by the end of the week some will want to see the back of snow;), but for those that don't it doesn't seem as if we'll be returning to anything majorly mild. i just hope when the inevitable milder air attack comes that the cold air will put up a better fight than Audley Harrison did, so we can get some frontal snow!

ThunderSnow in November - Who'd have thunk it!!:D
Loving it - although Air temp has crept up to 3.4C and DP is now up to -0.1c.

Need a front - What are the chances?

    Bring it on.....:) JK

Looking at sat24, there seems to be a lot of cloud forming to the North of Ireland. Would be great if this starts coming in around sunset.

Looking at Met Eireann's 5-Day Weather

All at once the temperature, amount of rainfall and the cold easterly winds will blow snow all across the country
I'm happy to see where my county is positioned on the map :D
