Shane MacGowan would do a fine job.

I wish Joe Higgins would run.. something tells me he'd do well.. plus it might get him out of the far-left fringe

Don't really have an opinion on Michael D or anyone else who has hinted that they're interested.. once Bertie doesn't win I don't care.. Norris is a good guy, but he's a bit too outspoken to be president imo

    Declan Ganley.

I think that Michael D, Norris or Finlay would all be good - they all have something different to offer but are all passionate about Ireland and would represent the country well.

To those who hate Michael D - I can understand people not wanting to vote for him - but its difficult to see how anyone would hate him.

Definitely in the ABB camp. An absolute disgrace that Bertie hasn't fully ruled himself out already. How he could even consider running is beyond me.
Hopefully all those voting for Anyone But Bertie don't all vote for different people and cancel each other out though leaving Bertie with the job.

He commentates on his last All ireland final this Sunday.I think its a no-brainer to make him president. He stands for everything that is good and great about being Irish. All political parties should unite as one and put him forward as the sole candidate.

Thanks Micheal for telling us why you deserve the position.
I feel better off now more informed.
Good job you posted this in the politics section, lord knows what would have happened if you had posted this in "After Hours" :pac:

I've made this point on another thread... but think it merits a thread of its own.

    Seamus Heaney for President.

    Cool.

    Roy Keane for President.

Too risky, he'd probably storm out half ways through his term... on the other hand, his 'take' on the current government & future ones would be 'choice'...

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,848 ✭✭✭bleg

    Jim Corr for president!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He'd be great at speeches - but he'd have to employ someone else to write the humorous sections. :p

    Micheal O Múircheartaigh
    George Hook
    Bertie Ahern.

1 corrupt fúck and 2 culchies, quite a selection. I love how this country is a prime example of taking the piss out of politics :pac:
