@Khance I received that email 9 times without any link to the matching survey.

  • Registered Users Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

Yes, I got the same email but with no link to the survey. Also got a call from EI to say we should be getting a few interviews in the comming weeks. I didn't have time to ask a question and she basically hung up. Conversation lasted 15-20 seconds.

So, this should be promising. I guess the survey will allow us to narrow the selection process for them, i.e. which industry/product/location would you be interested in (...possibly?).

All we can do is wait for the email/call now and take it from there.

    Best of luck everyone!

@Who Knows Thanks for the supportive comment! It actually really put my head in perspective..

I received the email about 5 times over the past 2 days and missed 2 calls from them today...

Unfortunately I didn't get the position I was interviewed for with one company. I was told I came 2nd out of 32 applications, and didn't get the final offer as the other person had more "over seas experience". Although they did offer me another position in the company. It was never my ideal company to work for, or location (UK) or even job,,, I guess really I pursued it for the sake of it.. And the post grad with Smurfit School of Business is a major part. The sweetest part is a member of staff from the company personally came to my home to deliver a gift from the company for the effort I had put into my presentation etc.

Hopefully something good comes from the new companies that have joined. and if not hopefully this time next year i'll be following my dream on a beach somewhere in South America.

    Best of Luck everybody!! :D

@ Johnnie86 - De Nada - Got the Email about 9 times now though

It took alot of willpower - asking if the email link was sent - but their email system sent the first email again repeatedly due to a bug in the system...

hmmm i didnt get the email from them but i did get the call last thursday. quite hung over and not really expecting to ever hear from them again i was taken aback with the call. i guess my degree is already specialised so i doubt i would need to fill the questionnaire out. i live in hope though! i had expected this to be wrapped up by now and either have a new job and not be in the position of leaving a job at the end of the week on the hope something comes up...

    Hi guys

Been lucky enough to get a job (Singapore) but now have to move up to Dublin starting next week.

Any one else in the same boat having trouble trying to organise accommodation at such short notice? If you are and interested in house share let me know :)

To the guys that are waiting around, I would haunt enterprise and if you get an interview take it no matter what the role/sector. The number one thing that got me the job was that I interviewed some people that worked in the sector. They said this pushed me above the rest. Plus you get more solid info from them in 5 minutes than a day researching yourself.

Keep the chin up guys and if anyone is interested in house share or has a room to rent near St Stephens Green let me know.

Did you find it much use ringing/emailing them? They seem to give the usual run around regarding it "being in the hands of the companies now"

Anybody after getting the new survey to do out or heard from any of the "new companies" that were taken on, I think this ship may have sailed already

Afraid so! I think it's less then 4 weeks until the beginning of the course. It would be nice to get a definative answer from EI to let us know what is happening. I think it's probably time for me to move on though.

Don't lose hope, I just got a call for my first interview. It happened just 10 minutes ago, and I didn't get contacted about that Survey EI was talking about last week.

I'm somewhat speechless. I think my employers are on to me, they know something is going on...

I never smile in the office. ;)

just got the survey there... all it asked was my name, email address and to select whether i had taken a job outside of G4IG, accepted an offer for G4IG, interviewed but rejected. interview scheduled or no interview yet....

  • Registered Users Posts: 10 chicagilly

I had 4 interviews in total 2 of which I had second round interviews with and was told I was not a strong enough candidate compared to the successful candidate. Yet since then I have been offered a job in Tallaght after a long haul of a process.

Also anyone who has been given a role in Dublin and is looking for a house share in Tallaght pm me!

And chin up guys don't lose hope! :)

I just got the survey there too... very very very basic... but hopefully it helps in the weeding out!!!

I cant lie, I still really want this and put my all into it!!! So @Khance has given me hope!!!

I got a private number call me and I missed and I have been panicking ever since - hoping it wasnt them - because my vmail wasnt activated!! Fingers crossed it wasnt them!! :|

Got the email with the link also. It seemed kind of pointless; name, email, and select your current status in the process.

Wish there was a comment box for feedback!!

Isn't the course starting over the next few weeks? Seems to be a bit delayed?

That survey was soo disappointing! ffs!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 jonnie86

I refuse to lose hope in this. G4IG is something I really want and even though I am looking at other things, as soon as I get my first interview with a company involved I will go for it big time. Keeping everythinh crossed that the phone rings in the next couple of days!! Best of lick to everyone in my boat, no interviews at all yet and of coutse to everyone else still waiting on offers.

Does anyone have any more idea about the postgrad element. Are we full-on ucd students or is our programme run externally, as in i guess do we get students cards and have library and gym entitlements etc.etc.?

    Hey,

I spoke with UCD Smurfit School on Thurs. The course will be delivered at both EI location at Eastpoint and at Smurfit Blackrock and change over the 6 months. She wasn't able to tell me the exact dates or what location, or stream i'm in (couldn't access the network) but we would receive more info after we have accepted our contracts.

She also said the Postgrad will be delivered in two streams (so prob 60 in each group). (Not sure if the 2 streams meant there would be different dates for each group, or if one group would be at one location doing a different module?)

Each module will be in 3 day blocks at the same location. (So 3 days by 6 modules works out to the 18 days mentioned in the G4IG brochure) .

She also said we would get a student card in the first few days. One could then assume we would get all the 'perks' that comes with it.

Don't give up hope! I was called for an interview last week and offered a position a few days later. The entire process was very rushed, and the employer told me that they didn't have time to do more than more round of interviews. I had pretty much given up hope of being offered a place at all!
In my letter of confirmation from EI it had the following dates for classes. The ones with the asterisk beside them are in the EI offices, others are in UCD. You'll be in either stream one or two, and you don't find out until you've submitted all requested info to UCD.

    Stream 1
    5 - 8th December
    23rd - 25th January*
    7th - 9th February
    7th - 9th March*
    2nd - 4th April*
    8th - 10th May

    Stream 2
    19th - 22nd December*
    16th -18th January
    20th - 22nd February*
    14th - 16th March
    11th - 13th April
    21st - 23rd May*

I'm also going to be based in Dublin, anyone else based there interested in meeting up, can be hard to get to meet new people when your new in a city!
