Mondays in Dublin so. Hopefully it'll not be a 9 o clock start for this of us that will be placed elsewhere. The position I'm applying for is in cork. The companies seem as lost as we are with how things work. The guy interviewing me thought it was a few weeks in a block in January.

yeah i thought it was going to be in smurfit in blackrock, but i think they said in the "orientation" that it would be held at the EI HQ

the whole process seems to be quite messy, the company that contacted me seemed to think id applied to them specifically and seeming as they were quite a specialised business they asked why I was interested in the role-of course as I didnt know who'd be contacting me I was at a bit of a loss!
Similarly in the orientation thing the speakers from the companies seemed to be as unaware of the process as one in particular kept saying to send in our CV's clearly not informed that it's completely out of our hands where we get matched to.
Definitely something EI has to improve upon for future programs.

Yeah i agree. your man that was speaking said he would consider people regardless of background, but i thought EI were sending out our cv's based on our profiles to the companies.

I think @who knows coined it best with his suggestions.

@ Johnjoebloggs Think we had same company. Market research for France?

@dunnear - Well they didn't specify France but they were asking about my French. Was the company based in Co. Dublin? Nice offices...

I was relieved when I got a call on Monday to come in for an interview on Wednesday(yesterday).. I was interviewed by the MD and although it was a tough interview, I think it went fairly well.. I've been given a task to prepare, and go back next week to present. The role is in the UK and comes with a lot of responsibilities.. Its a SME manufacturing company.

I have an honours degree in Business Management and no second language. I scored mostly 3's and one 4 at the assessment centre..

Although I'd be delighted if I got it, I was hoping for somewhere a bit more exciting than The UK..

Best of luck to everyone!! It is indeed a quite frustrating process!! I've put jobs, a relationship and travel plans on hold for this!!! I hope its worth it...

Well done Cleao! It's reassuring to know that someone got the same feedback results as myself. Also the lack of second langauge too. It gives me hope that someone will call... the waiting part is the worst.

Everyone in my office at work knows about it, and it's like walking on eggshells, they know I'm looking for other work and it's awkward...

I'd imagine it to be daunting, talking directly to the MD, but it's good that they're giving you a task to carry out. I like the idea of being able to do something practical to be judged on as opposed to being solely assessed on how you come across on the day.

Ah, I swear, I've never had as much interest in my phone as in the last few weeks. Just sitting staring at it most of the time, praying it will ring.

Jesus any time my phone rings and i don't recognize the number I'm snatching at the thing

    @Johnjoebloggs
No mine was actually in Carlow. Co. Dublin would be so much easier!
I also find it bizzare that the majority of people haven't been contacted or just had like 1 interview because we are meant to be matched with around 5 companies and I think each company gets 6 CVs! The company I interviewed for said the candidate had to be decided upon by end of October so maybe there are 2 sets of companies and there just was a lot that applied late so they are in the 2nd group due for end of November! Think some people didn't get interviews until quite late last year if you look earlier in thread!

....has any of you contacted EI through email/phone to ask what is going on? I know a guy that did but he didn't get any reply or acknowledgement that the email is being dealt with. Seems very cold.

I'm guessing that we have two weeks to get some feedback or interview. The last week in October has to be the end of the process (but I am guessing)? I know a guy that has a degree in business, masters in business, and a phd in business/IT, basic-intermediate language, and he didnt get a call yet? He remains hopeful...

Question for people who had an interview - how do ye not know anything about the company before the interview. Don't they give you a company name and address to attend the interview? Can't ye check up some info on the companies prior to the interview?

    To everyone else.....Keep the faith!!!

    Hi all,

I got a call from an environmental company yeterday for an interview on Tuesday, i was was caught off guard as i was out at the time so I didnt get time to ask many question. All he said was he say my CV and wanted to call me for interview, also said i had to have a 10minute presentation ready aswell. He didnt say it was party of the G4IG programme, so I not sure if this was from a previous job I may have applied for or if it with the EI? Its a little scary going in there tuesday not really knowing what Im interviewing for!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18 dunnear

    @Whoknows
The woman from EI told me they could be interviewing up to the end of November so I really wouldnt give up yet especially considering the majority of people have had none or just 1 interview and we are matche with several!

Did you ask him? Sounds like its G4IG if they require a presentation? Maybe other could shed light on their interview call experience?

Going by other peoples comments here, it seems like this is the standard "this mobile phone will self-destruct in 2 minutes" phone call associated with G4IG interviews..... Can't believe the manner in which this is taking place as a recruitment process....I won't rant again about it :D

    Well done either way!! ;)

No I never asked, as you said it all happened so quick and the call didnt come untill after 6pm so when i answered i wasnt expecting it to be anything professional at all. I didnt get an email about it or confirmation, I was out at the time and had no pen to write down details or anything . Do you think I could ring EI and ask them if this was one of the companys?
Hope I get more than this, have checked out the company and it doesnt seem really right for me, or even that relevant to what Im graduated in!

Hey....yep just heard the same there (guy got an email from EI). To sum it up, the companies should have made all offers the 28th Oct and the process will continue into Nov. Still no guarantee, but there are some possibilities......:D

Well, I think its in your best interest to find out who they are and what they are about if in G4IG.... might be worth a phone call, but not sure how EI will react... Worst they can say is "No" sure.... Ya should probably go for interview anyway - see what they are about, and if nothing else, give you experience for the next interview you might get??

If I was you I would try EI - they might be easy going on a Friday afternoon :D Let us know how ya get on anyway....

Ok so I just rang them there, the lady that answered was very nice and helpful, she checked the list of businesses and said the one I got a call from was not part of G4IG. So it justsome other random job I applied for, Im a bit dissapointed now, thought I was starting to make progress with this. Back to the waiting game now. Thanks for the advise tho :)

The company emailed me the following HR Spiel- "Thank you for taking the time to be interviewed for the position of Business Development Graduate. On further short listing of candidates interviewed we will not be proceeding with your application in the process. May we stress that this is in no way a reflection on your qualifications and experience, but is the result of matching these to the specific requirements of the position."

Have had two interviews, but have one on Tuesday that I really want to well in! Best matched company so far! Have many of you heard of people actually being offered posts yet?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 jonnie86

I got an e-mail saying I was in the final 300 and I am still waiting to hear from any company!! Have had contact whatsoever. Is anyone else in the same boat?? I'm starting to get very frustrated about it all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 117 ✭✭Mr.SlumDuck

Johnny, I am in the same boat. Have not had 1 call. Got all 4's in my feedback and remain a little hopeful...for this week anyway! Got offered 3 jobs last year....in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Libya. Needless to say did not take any of them. Due to last years experience I only ticked States and Europe. There are probably the regions that every person ticks so I have given myself a tougher chance in getting interviews this year perhaps but rather that then be in the same position than last year.

I e-mailed enterprise ireland a couple of weeks ago and they said it is down to the conpanies to contact us now. Do we all get at least one interview? Is that a definate??

I really cannot stand this waiting around

I really can't comprehend how so many have gotten no interviews yet!

I've been offered a job and start towards the end of November (possibly 24th), the date hasn't been confirmed yet. i'll be looking for a flat/house share for the 6 months in Dublin soon to move in a few days before the start date. If there are others doing the same then maybe sharing a house with people in the same situation might be a good idea. Don't know how this board.ie works but if anyone might be interested then get in touch.

getting pretty fed up with this now myself. is there any point in ringing EI or do they just give u the usual run around? the place im working now wants to extend my contract but the jobs not really what i want to be doing like, and it involves staying in Ireland :P

so basically will have to roll the dice and hope i (1) get called for an interview and (2) get a job out of it.....

I emailed EI a while ago and was just told it's up to the companies to get in touch with us now. But we don't know who we are matched up with. As far as I can tell we are in limbo.
