I've seen a few early screenshots here:
    http://media.xbox360.gamespy.com/media/143/14341976/imgs_1.html

From the little information given away by a few screens it looks to me like it could just be a massive DLC or something. Fallout 3 I've heard took three years to devlop, this is due for release in Q3 2010. Hope it;s not a rushed job...

(P.S: Yes the link's to an XBox page I know!)

i read an article about this lately saying its not to be considered "Fallout 4", it is just another game set in the Fallout universe. Its from a different developer as well.

Its a different dev team making this, not the same team that did Fallout 3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 593 ✭✭✭Scráib

It may be a different dev team, that's great and all. But the screenshots still look exactly like Fallout 3.

I just hope Obsidian don't do to Fallout what they did to KOTOR. Bioware made the first and Obsidian rushed the sequal. Obsidian better not rush this. A good thing about this Obsidian team doing Fallout Vegas is that one or two of the guys worked on the first 2 Fallout games so there is some hope.

Either way Bethesda will roll out Fallout 4 after Elder Scrolls 5 so it will be a while for Fallout 4 but it should be worth it.

    Dinosaurs? :(

Looks like it's just a novelty thing on top of a restaurant, but dinosaurs would be great. Nothing can't be improved with the inclusion of dinosaurs.

It's being made by the guys that made Fallout 1 and 2 so with their input and the Fallout/Oblivion engine it's gonna be class. My favourite part of Fallout 2 was New Reno so I say it's just gonna be a new and greatly improved version of that.

I hear you start of as a courier who was shot left in a grave to die until you're saved by some wasteland doctor

Cant wait to waste another 100 hours on this one aswell :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,036 ✭✭✭BArra

    ahh fallout 1 and 2, great,,,great games

playing off the "mafia" mobs in new reno against one another and getting nicely rewarded

only to obtain power armour and go back and kill them all and loot their safes in their buildings

prob my 2 fav games of all time

Don't know about anyone else but I'm really looking forward to this game and I know its early to be getting the thread going but it was going to happen eventually.

The trailer for Fallout 3 made me so excited for that game, and I loved that game so much... but... the trailer for New Vegas feels like a big 'meh' for me. It looks pretty much like a huge Fallout 3 expansion pack, and there's nothing wrong with that at all, but the trailer just isnt making me feel excited for it at all.

why wouldn't that make you excited? it's making my pants tighter by the second :D

I would have been happy if Bethesda had of just kept releasing DLC for Fallout 3 instead of having Obsidian release a whole new game but New Vegas is looking good.

There is an official Fallout forum you can find it through google, its from Bethseda the owners of the franchise. The new company who are creating this game are using the same engine for graphics etc on FO 4 NV that was used on FO3 which is why it looks the same.

They havent changed a lot, but have added some new things which users complained about FO3, overall this game looks great and I will definitely be buying it, the forum I mentioned above if you google Bethseda they have game previews of this game etc, well worth checking out if you are a big FO fan and havent already seen this forum and website.

I'm trying to plat it at the moment. I'm only a few trophies off getting it, but I keep getting distracted by DLC and other things :D amazing game.

I really really can't wait for New Vegas. It looks savage!

Couldn't see any threads on it in the first few pages of this forum, so said I'd throw one up, for general discussion or what not.

Anyone else really excited about this game? Fallout 3 is probably one of my favourite games ever, and I think New Vegas looks like it will be just as fantastic. What do ye think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,729 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

havent even gotten around to the first one yet  got to megaton but then I bought a whore for 120 bottlecaps, got distracted and went to go look at porn on the internet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭VenomIreland

I'm really looking forward to this as some of the team that made Fallout 2 (notably J.E. Sawyer and Chris Avelone) are working on this.

Anyone know any solid information about the special edition? I know Game aren't taking pre-orders yet and I've heard that it's exclusive to Gamestop.

Really looking forward to this, I'm fairly critical of games(not as far as hating ''classic'' games like uncharted, god of war 3 etc... just never really class games as 10/10) but Fallout 3 is my favourite game by a long shot.

I could spend hours searching houses, boxes and love the whole buying and selling aspect. The thing is as well you never have enough caps as you constantly need to repair weapons etc... they got that part of the game nailed down, too often games have added that with no real incentive(red dead redemption being a prime one, hunting was a waste of time, there was nothing to buy bar 2/3 things)

And there was amazing bang for buck, spent nearly 100 hours on each of my two play thru's, serious value for money,

Hours scavenging through everywhere to pick up tin can, milk bottle plate etc... just for a few caps to make repairs epic

Ron Perlman and Kris Kristofferson being involved is pretty cool. Any word on the soundtrack yet? I loved the last games music, hope this has the same thought put into it.

Sadly, it's not Mark Morgan :(

he probably ment its a cool thing to go in somewhere random and have a rummage through things, they have all sorts of things to find

i remember finding a crashed alien spacecraft, which had this plasma gun, 1 shot kills, melted anything it hit, only 50 ammo for it though

i played fallout 1, 2, tactics on the pc, best games i ever played, and fallout 3 on the ps3 was bloody brilliant

Exactly, there was so much to find and sell, and so many boxes and lockers to search, i used to spend hours searching buildings.
Trying to see what you need more to avoid overloading your weight.
As i said it's one of the few games that really rewards you for putting time into it, as caps serve a purpose for at least 50 hours of gameplay(still serve a small purpose after but you'd have enough stimpacks and a high enough repair skill to not rely on them as much near the end)

The only thing i found a bit worthless in 3 were the Meds.
Apart from stimpacks, the Rad X and the other Radiation one, i didn't use most of the other ones and didn't find combat any harder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,561 ✭✭✭✭Varik

Fallout 3 honestly did not do a good job on any of the individual elements, but the sum of the whole was a great game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

I'm hoping the new gameplay elements will make up for the same game engine, preview images left me a bit unimpressed that no major graphical changes were made, but I guess on our gen of consoles limiting it (pc versions won't be a limiting factor obviously), and the nature of the open world engine, it is a good choice.

Looking forward to hardcore mode, needing food, water, sleep and different wound mechanics could add a lot of desperation survival play!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭VenomIreland

If you want hardcore mode now, give the FWE mod for Fallout 3 a shot, it adds some stuff from the hardcore mode.

Anyone else jumping straight into hardcore mode?

The only thing I ever used them for was caps, I dident bother ever using them. Just traded em in and bought stimpacks, much more usefull.

Any idea yet on when this is comeing out?
