    for the love of god buy every frozen orb you can for less than 10g you will make loads next patch

    Quote from: Zarhym (Source)
    I'm sure some of you noticed this in the 3.3.3 PTR patch notes:

    * Frozo the Renowned has moved into the Dalaran Magus Commerce Exchange and will be trading your Frozen Orbs for various other trade goods.

    For those curious, here are the items for which you can trade your Frozen Orbs to Frozo. These each cost 1 Frozen Orb unless noted otherwise in parentheses:

    * Crusader Orb (6)
    * Runed Orb (4)
    * Eternal Fire
    * Eternal Earth
    * Eternal Water
    * Eternal Air
    * Eternal Life
    * Eternal Shadow
    * Frost Lotus
    * Pattern: Frosty Flying Carpet [Tailors Only] (6)

    frozen orb prices are gona go waay up

    Oh, that's neat (gonna have to get that carpet pattern for my Warlock :D)

    That should keep all those other pesky Engineers away from my gas clouds in Sholazar, hopefully :) Having a resource that few others are able to use (and even fewer actually use) now becomes that bit nicer.

    Sorry I didn't get back to you.

    If it's only gold you are after and you don't mind grinding, then collecting profs are best, such as herbing and mining, they are very easy to level compared to other professions. Herbing and mining conbined never let me down for making lots of gold.

    If the professions are needed for your characters advancement, then you need to take that into consideration. Although, if you make enough gold then you can just change your professions after. I have found myself dropping blacksmithing to grind gold, then picking it back up again after I made my gold mining/herbing. Not too keen on that though ;)

    It is also heavily based on your server. Check what the prices are on the items you can sell.

    The best way I find to make a profit is to minimise your expences. Never buy from ah and always grind the mats you need yourself (if you can manage).

    Never buy from ah and always grind the mats you need yourself (if you can manage).

    Be careful about this. Quite often you'll find that it's much more time efficient for you to just buy some stuff instead of gathering yourself.

    In WoW (and life I guess!), the resource you're trading is your time. So you always want to be focusing on activities that generate the most trading value for your time. Of course you might enjoy levelling blacksmithing and making your own gear, and thats fine (as here the reward you're getting [enjoyment] is greater than the time investment), but if you're in it just to get the money so you can go off and do stuff you might enjoy more (eg raiding etc), then always aim for activities that give you the most gold per hour for example.

    This often depends on your character class, abilities etc. For some people they'd be best out farming mobs, some might be best gaming the AH, or using professions. Just be conscious of the times you're doing something you're not really enjoying and make sure you're getting the best gold value out of that time.

    An example might be, sometimes you see people saying "I'm not paying 10g for eternal life, thats like twice what they usually are on AH, I'll go farm one and save 10g pewpew". However, instead of spending 10 mins farming (between flying etc), most players could easilly have made this in some other way which is more efficient for them and just pay the 10g on the AH. Whats worse is you often see players making the same decision for the same item when it's at the regular auction price (5g).

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,112 ✭✭✭Blowfish

    Agreed, I never quite understood why people grind for a small amount of a specific mat when it's generally quicker just to make money in other ways to pay for those mats.

    Even in your example above, you could spend the 10 minutes to do 3 dailies (40G), spend the 10g and end up 30g better off than grinding.

    Basically grinding for something doesn't mean that it's 'free' as you've to invest time to do it. If you spent the same time elsewhere, you'll quite often end up with a much better return.

    As far as buying from the AH in general, one of the most common ways of 'playing' the AH is simply to find a product which has reasonably high demand that you also have a decent supply of. Then you either wait until there's a low supply on the AH, or create the low supply artificially by buying out the cheaper stuff to drive the price up, then relist and move on to the next product.

    This is hard enough to do with max level AH gear/mats as you'll have those aiming for gold cap who can destroy you while doing this if you aren't careful, but it's not all that difficult to find your own 'niche' to do it on with levelling gear/mats.

    Yeah I used to do that cross faction buying/selling a lot a long time ago when I was running two accounts. It's risky at times but it's great if you can pull it off.

    great detalied website on making gold

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,137 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

    Me and a friend started a gold quest, to make as much gold as possible before cataclysm.

    We are hoping to make 100k split between two of us.

    We both put in 10k gold into a guild bank ( newly created)

    We take 5k each on our bank chars and use this to buy matts for our products to sell.

    We are dealing in just about everything split between us, my main focus is

    Gems
    Gem flipping
    Titanium powder
    titanium shuffle
    saronite shuffle
    Specialist bags
    Armour + weapon vellums
    Runescrolls
    haste pots
    Raid flasks

    Week one, which was really, getting our feet settled, we made 6k profit. How we are working it is that every copper over 5k on our bank alt, we deposit. So although we made 6k profit first week, we probably took in about 12k liquid gold in total.

    Week two we pulled in 9k profit.

    Week three we hit 13k

    Our goal is to push it further, cause we are still getting our bearings, stocking ivnentory and lowering costs.

    So in three weeks.

    27k / 2

    ( i think might be rough figures, but its profit)

    Ideally we want to make 15k income profit a week, 7500g a piece each week.

    We are really taking over markets, and its been great fun considering ive been feeling a lul towards the end of the expansion. I'm sopending so much time crafting and on the ah and love it.

    I'll keep you posted, but we are making a literal bomb here :D

    If you dont use your emblems of triumph, buy crusaders orbs and use them with cheapest titansteel bars and saronite bars you can to craft some saronite swordbreakers! I sell every pair i make for minimum 1300g gold. Since the crusader orbs are free, each pair cost me around 700g to craft so good enough bit of profit from the craft. Coupled with gem flipping cardinals and crafting them on my 2 alchemists, buying any for under 100g and crafting bold cardinals which i sell at up to 170g when the market spikes! Made about 12k profit in the last 7-10 days from this, coupled with selling whatever enchanting mats i had. Im ecstatic with the 14k i have cause the most ive had before now was 6k when i was getting my epic flying xD and some of that was borrowed :(

    Just love that feeling being able to search the ah, find the most expensive thing and say yeah......i can buy that! :P and ive always been the worst at making gold in my group of wow friends.....now im the richest on the server we are on now :P

    saronite swordbreakers are only 1300g on your server!?!

    They're 2k gold on mine. Cutting Cardinal Rubies is the way to go. Bold and Delicate being best on my server. Setup auctioneer on your bank alt to do a snatch list. It only shows me Cardinal Ruby which are 90% of market value.

    Every server is different.

    Runed cardinals are flooded and crap in outland. The first gem people assume will get them most money, is red. So all the flood of honour points and triumph gems, people are buying the red ones.

    Heres some of the gems I deal in, ( of many) and you will see how shocking the gem market is on outland

    Bold Ruby - 120g
    Delicate Ruby 120g
    Runed Ruby 130g
    Fractured Ruby 140g
    Reckless Ametrine 90g
    Inscribed ametrine 110g
    Purified dreadstone 110g
    Regal dreadstone 160g
    Royal dreadstone 99g
    Solid majestic zircon 130g
    seers eye of zuul 90g
    opaque eye of zuul, 220g <
    my main cut that nets me a bomb, im one of two people on alliance that posts the gem ;)

    Thats some of them, I've pretty much a ton of cuts.

    But its pretty ****.

    The gold is me flipping uncuts into cuts.

    Ametrine gems sell for about 80-90g uncut.

    Cardinals 100g

    Dreadstones 70-80g

    Eye of zuul 50g

    Majestic zircon 110g

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,115 ✭✭✭magicianz

    Honestly the 170g for bold cardinals is rare enough usually drops to 110g :( but i always save some a couple of bold just in case :P in all honesty i need to do some more market checking cause im sure i could make more flipping other types but i dont have the time since i only play about an hour a day apart from my raid spam friday :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,919 ✭✭✭✭Gummy Panda

    Thats some grim JC prices :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,675 ✭✭✭TechnoPool

    ye with the abundance of honor now gem market got flooded, i just snap up most uncut gems i can find, cut them and re list, 10-60g profit depending it all add's up.

    enchanting scrolls also make me a bomb

    A slow week due to my partner been on holidays for a week, so I went experimenting in different markets but ended up just breaking even so went back to the old reliables.

    I'm currently keeping the Titanium powder from titanium ore, as I'm using it to pick up the alst few crafting patterns I need.

    But I'm getting Titanium ore at 150g a stack and getting 1 epic gem minimum per stack, so im pretty much making profit after selling the rare and uncommon gems aswell.

    Did a bit of flipping aswell this week. Using auctioneers " resale" addon, you search the AH for items posted at less then what they usually sell for.

    I set the threshold at 500g minimum profit and picked up afew bits and flipped them. Cost me 3k in bids and buyouts but pulled back 12.5k total. Not bad for no work except capital. Its a risky thing to do, but the stuff i got lucky with, were big sellers.

    Have a few flip bids to check when i get home, one was a darmoon greatness accidently posted for 1c , so ill see if i got it or it got cancelled.

    Gem wise did my usual. I shifted about 80 cut gems and have another 80 in the bags. That alone nets me about 8-9k worth of gold.

    I'm trying to fnd a nice cut off point, where I can find myself gathering the most gold, and then dumping big portions into the Gbank, at the moment its trickles every few days. I'd rather do all my sales in one day, but i guess thats not how it works.

    I've built up such a large inventory of gems now also. I think I'll drop a grand or two on titanium tonight while its cheap, get the powder and gems. I'm hoping to drop another 2k or so on the matts needed for spellfire and brilliant spellthreads.

    These bad boys sell within 12 hours usually of gonig up. At the moment I'm making 4 of each but I'm going to bump production to about 10 of each see how it flies.

    Also started a side project on my mage. I got him to 450 enchanting, and the only gold I had left on him I put into getting one black magic enchant on a scroll.

    I'm going to just use the money i get in, to make more scrolls, and see how much i can make and in how long a time, jsut dealing with enchanting stuff.

    I started with only the enchanting mats, I'm now at 900g and have loads of nice patterns ready to sell, this is only a three day old plan. Grabbed myself beserking and can see those two being the big sellers, and probably all ill focus on.

    I'll keep ya posted, I'd be interested to hear some other AH players contribute their experiences. ICC is old news for me really, im turning over heroic bosses with my raid team like we are giants walking through the shire, so the AH is the only thing keeping me interested,.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,675 ✭✭✭TechnoPool

    ive been making alot of gold aswell recently, but alas my AH has just gone EMPTY, and im on a high pop realm, there is really nothing to buy at all thats even worth the time. :o

    Just to let you know, the remote auction house beta is live for EU. I checked it this morning on my iphone to buy flasks. Its actually pretty nice and slightly better then i expected.

    Having trouble with checking bank alt though :S

    I'm gonna have to start brushing up on my AHing as I need a lot of gold now. Need about 24k gold to buy enough primordial saronite to make my Shadow's Edge. Not using frost emblems as i need them for gear upgrades.

    What proffesions do you have maxed?

    If you have some gold reserve on you, use auctioneers "resale" addon.

    It scans your AH to see items listed at under normal prices.

    I set mine to show a min 100g profit, and I buy stuff up on the cheap and relist at the normal price making a killing.

    Flipping this way, netted me 11k this week.

    I got a hunters 226 belt for example (ulduar boe) listed at 400g. I picked it up through resale, and relisted for 2500g and got the sale.

    It can be risky but if you have half a clue you can make some good money of it.

    Crafting patterns are usually the big money makers . Sure let us know what proffesions you have.

    Saronites go for bout 500-600g on my server at the moment, you should get the gold to get them easy in no time.
