i think thats mark o'leary gone tbh.
Tipp had an u16 team some years back that were streets ahead of the rest and alot of this squad were the core of the team. last year i felt they were unlucky in semi but 2 defeats in a week is not good enough.

Munster MHC: Kelly's late winner downs Tipp
    06 May 2010

    Clare 0-17
    Tipperary 1-13

Tony Kelly's last-gasp point handed Clare a dramatic victory over Tipperary in last night's Munster MHC quarter-final at Cusack Park, Ennis.

Reduced to 14 men for the final 10 minutes after wing back Enda Boyce was sent off on a second yellow card, the Banner had to withstand a late Tipp onslaught before snatching the win which earns them a semi-final date with Limerick on June 24.

Full forward Niall Arthur was once again Clare's scorer-in-chief, finishing with a personal haul of 0-7, 0-4 from frees. Four of those points came in the first half as Clare took a slender 0-7 to 0-6 lead into the interval.

Tipperary edged in front through Aidan McCormack seven minutes after the restart, but over the next 15 minutes, Clare began to dominate and had surged into a 0-16 to 0-11 lead by the 54th minute thanks to scores from Podge Collins and Arthur.

However, following Boyce's dismissal, Tipp came roaring back and a brilliant Liam McGrath goal levelled the match in the 59th minute. But a snap point from Kelly helped Clare progress to the last four.

    Clare - R Taaffe; P Flanagan, N Purcell, S Morey; E Boyce (0-1), K Lynch, S O'Halloran; T Kelly (0-2), C Galvin; A Cunningham, P Collins (0-4), J Shanahan (0-1); C O'Connell, N Arthur (0-7, 4f), D O'Halloran (0-2). Subs - H Vaughan for Purcell, A Mulready for O'Connell.

    Tipperary - D Reddan; C Barrett, A Ryan, J O'Dwyer; L Treacy, B Stapleton, J Meagher; J Forde (0-1), D Flynn (0-1); D Butler (0-1), N O'Meara, L McGrath (1-3); M O'Brien (0-2), A McCormack (0-2), C Horan (0-1). Subs - T Heffernan (0-1) for Forde, J Cahill (0-1) for Butler, D McCormack for Horan, P Dalton for Heffernan.

    Ref - D O'Driscoll (Limerick)

    Tipp call-ups for O'Meara and Fanning Hoganstand.com
    Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy
    07 May 2010

Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy has added attackers Brian O'Meara from Kilruane McDonaghs and Moneygall's Paddy Fanning to his squad ahead of the Munster SHC showdown with Cork on May 30.

Dual star O'Meara caught the eye during Waterford IT's run to this year's Fitzgibbon Cup final, while he also featured for the Tipp under 21 footballers in their recent historic Munster championship success. Fanning has been called up on the back of some impressive performances for Moneygall in the North Tipp SHC.

Meanwhile, Tipperary football captain Robbie Costigan is expected to recover from a leg injury in time for Sunday week's Munster SFC opener against Kerry. Assuming he is passed fit, manager John Evans will have a full strength squad to pick from for the meeting with the All-Ireland champions.

Apparently Buggy O' Meara was told after the Fitz that he was been drafted in when the u21 footballers exited the championship. Surprising that he's been called in as he didn't start with WIT until the final (or could have been Semi). Best of luck to him though. He only joind Kilruane a couple of years back. He used to hurl with Knockshegowna (spelling??)

Does anyone know anything about this Paddy Fanning? What position does he hurl in? What age is he? I wouldn't hear too much on North Tipp hurling, and would very rarely attend any of Moneygall's matches as they wouldn't usually get to the latter stages of the championship and would rarely play against my own club (think I've only seen them play 3 times in last 10 odd years).

North Tipp football has made serious strides since John Evans has taken charge. Fair play to him, or whoever's idea it was to make a Senior football team in the North. It has really helped the overall development of the game up there.

    Tipp hammer Dublin in challenge

I have to be honest what the **** will tipp learn from this at all? i suppose the one good thing is we had a strong side out judging by the scorers

    From Hoganstand.com
SH challenge: Kelly stars as Tipp hammer Dublin
    11 May 2010

Eoin Kelly put his recent hamstring problems behind him when he blasted 2-6 as Tipperary trounced Dublin by 25 points in a senior hurling challenge at Nenagh last night.

    Tipperary 5-25
    Dublin 0-15

The victory was revenge of sorts for Tipp, who suffered a surprise loss to Anthony Daly's side in the recent NHL campaign. Current Young Hurler of the Year Noel McGrath also hit a brace of goals, while newcomer Brian O'Meara helped himself to 1-2.

With Kelly to the fore, Tipp were already out of sight at half-time when they led by 3-15 to 0-8. Things got worse for the visitors after the restart when McGrath booted home a fourth goal.
Seamus Callanan scored 0-4 from centre forward, while substitute Brendan Maher weighed in with 0-3 as 10 different Tipp players got on the scoresheet.

Johnny McCaffrey top-scored for Dublin with 0-4, but they had precious little to cheer about and on this evidence will struggle to get past Laois or Carlow in their Leinster SHC opener.

Tipperary u21s play Kilkenny u21s in Cloneen, co tipperary (between mullinahone and fethard) on Sunday night as part of the St Patricks club officially opening their new club house. id imagine this is the annual u21 fixture which normally takes place in Gortnahoe, just a change of venue.

EDIT: think the throw in is at 7.30 ill be sure to check and post back

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,238 ✭✭✭looder

The teams that lined out last night were as follows:
Tipp: Cummins, Stapleton, Curran, Cahill, Fanning, O'Mahony, Paudie Maher, Benny Dunne, Shane McGrath, Kerwick, Callanan, Hennessy, Kelly, Buggy O'Meara, Noel McGrath

Dublin: Maguire, Corcoran, Brady, Gough, Hiney, Fallon, Boland, McCaffrey, O'Brien, P.Kelly, Rushe, Durkin, Carton, Lambert, McCrabbe

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,238 ✭✭✭looder

Thanks for the fixture, It'd be nice if it's on a little earlier, maybe 3-30 or 4 as Davins are playing Ballingary in Fethard at 1pm. It's make a nice day of hurling.

Am I read somewhere the reason why the Gortnahoe tournament didn't take place, not sure what the answer was though.

Has anyone seen St. Pat's new dressing rooms? Are they big? The last ones were pretty bad it has to be said.

EDIT: Here's the inter-county fixtures this weekend - from Tipp GAA:

    May 16th @ 2:00pm - vs. Kerry (Semple Stadium Thurles) - 2010 Munster Junior Football Championship Quarter-Final
    May 16th @ 7:15pm - vs. Kilkenny (St. Patricks Cloneen) - 2010 Under 21 Hurling Challenge

Where will they start Padraig Maher? Full back or on the wing? Brendan Maher should be midfield IMO

Brendan Maher absolutely has to be midfield...I know he only came on at half time at midfield for Benny Dunne but he'll be starting come the 30th...plus Benny Dunne is out with a broken bone in his wrist now!

Padraig Maher will surely be full marking Aisake as he has absolutly no hurling whatsoever...would nearly be confident with "looder" marking him! :p

The Davins beat Ballingarrry in the South.

    Davins 3-9 Ballingarry 0-11

I went up for a look at this as the result would have a bearing on my own club. We now need to win at least one of the next two games to make sure that we go through. Scrappy game, very stop start with some very hard hits. Liam Cahill should have got the line for a very sneaky and dirty block down near the end on Johnny Cody, who looked to have a broken wrist coming off. Cahill was only booked. Davins got a soft goal, although the goalmouth in Fethard certainly didn't help Logue. Davins deserved to win it but can thank their Keeper/fullback line for making a number of great last ditch saves/interceptions.

I put together a table for the South Tipp results too. It's located here: http://southshc.leaguerepublic.com/ I'm too lazy to do one up for the other divisions :o

    Up North

Friday night: Kilruane 1-17 Moneygall 0-19

Match report thanks to Noddy on Premierview:
Brilliant game of hurling. both Paddy Fanning and Buggy O Meara were very impressive, wouldnt be suprised to see them play against Cork. Moneygall were very unlucky not to get anything out of the game, Niall O Meara scored a point for Kilruane near the end which looked to be wide while Moneygall also missed a few scorable chances in the 2nd half, apart from Fanning and Buggy, Ger Kirwan, PaJo Troy and Tommy Deveroux were good for Moneygall, Mikey Costelloe and Niall O Meara were impressive for Kilruane

Good to see the two Tipp panelists doing well so close to the Cork team.

No other Senior games on in Tipp due to the Tipp V Kerry match I think.

Munster JFC Result - Kerry 1-13 Tipp 0-9 - Tipp fielded an u23 development team for this game.
