It's finally happened ... and I'm sure I'm not alone

I would have impulse bought this in a hearbeat a month ago but I'm bored of waiting and I think the urge has passed - don't think I'll be too bothered when google EVENTUALLY decide to lauch it in europe

    :(

Think OP has decided not to buy one after all.

I just know Mr Nexus and I would have been a match made in heaven!

Should probably wait for Desire now by the looks of it.

    Pretty much the same phone.

The Legend looks nicer I have to say, although lower spec.

Nexus one is a better looking device for me. Does anyone know if the desire has a notification led having lost the trackball?

The Desire is the only one of the two with an FM radio (I think) so that would swing it for me everything else being equal.

Where are people buying these? Any websites in particular?
    I'd read through 640 posts, but that's a lot of posts :D

    ebay mostly I'd imagine.

If you create an app that gets 5000 downloads and 3.5+ rating Google have said they will send you one for free (although I haven't seen anything official)

You could try http://www.expansys.ie or http://www.pixmania.ie, quite expensive on both of those though. Think I may hold on a little longer in the hopes that Google issues a release date some time soon.

I had mine shipped to my hotel while in the US so thats another option if yourself or a friend happens to be travelling.

  • Registered Users Posts: 931 ✭✭✭PH4T

I would like to get the dock but €66.99 seems a bit steep.

    http://www.expansys.ie/d.aspx?i=195715

Are there any other options to the official one?

how much was that? i know the tax varies from state to state. Ill be in cali soon so im trying to see if its worth it to get now with the exchange rate or hold off for the legend

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,780 ✭✭✭JohnK

Well I had mine shipped to Vegas and there was no extra state tax added so at the time the exchange rate brought it to €386 but thats probably fluctuated a bit since. Baza210 mentioned on page 9 of this thread that he was hoping to have one shipped to a hotel in San Francisco so you could try ask him what the extra California tax came to.

Hi guys, I got a N1 a couple of days ago, but I'm getting a lot of hassle with the data connection. I'm on meteor prepay. Some days I can get a connection no problem but then later in the day I won't be able to get anything. Haven't had a data connection since yesterday afternoon. Is meteor just that bad or are my settings messed up. If it's meteor could someone suggest a better carrier ?

    My settings:
    MMS
    name: Meteor MMS
    APN: mms.mymeteor.ie
    proxy: 010.085.085.085
    port: 8799
    username: my
    pass: mms
    MMSC: http://mms.mymeteor.ie
    mcc: 272
    mnc: 03
    auth type: none
    apn type: mms

    Data:
    name: Meteor Data
    APN: data.mymeteor.ie
    username: my
    password: meteor
    MMSC: http://wap.mymeteor.ie
    MCC: 272
    MNC: 03
    auth type: none
    APN type: default

Ok, after a reboot I've managed to get data back again. Still doesn't explain why I lost it in the first place but meh.

    Folks,
Friend of mine in US buying Nexus for me but he has asked which frequency he should pick when buying. I am with Vodafone so which below mention spec would be compatible with their network ?

Compatible with 3G on AT&T (U.S.) and Rogers Wireless (Canada)
Supports three 3G/UMTS bands (850/1900/2100 MHz) and four GSM radio frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

    Compatible with 3G on T-Mobile (U.S.)
Supports three 3G/UMTS bands (900/AWS/2100 MHz) and four GSM radio frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

You might need to reboot you N1 for the changes to take effect.
Can't help you with the apn settings as Im on meteor but they should be stickied in this forum.

Cheers elderlemon! I thought one only needed two APN's though?? One for MMS and the other for Internet??

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,014 ✭✭✭elderlemon

Depends on whether you have a data package or how much you want to pay. Use the live one if you are unsure as its almost as good as the hs/isp.

    I have a 1GB data add on. Should I be using isp.vodafone.com or isp.vodafone.ie??

isp.vodafone.ie or hs.vodafone.ie - both are the same. I have the 1gb add on and use hs.vodafone.ie. You can also use the live apn with the 1gb add on- its covered under the package.
