Sorry about the late posting, was not able to get onto the internet. You can take as given if it is not mentioned that, Tom segal does saturday and sunday as u know, Andrew Barr does every monday and tuesday, Mel Collier always does wednesday and thursday and Matt Williams does every friday. That's the way it has been since january, apart from 2 fridays that matt williams missed in june that Ben Hutton did, and 2 weeks in late august that Andrew Barr missed that Ben Hutton did again. Ben Hutton only got 2 winners over the times he filled in, when he filled in for Matt Williams in June

I'm fully in agreement regarding Mel Collier, i think he's terrible, both in pricewise extra and in the paper, he just doesnt get enough winners. I'm sure if i went back over the past few months, Mel Collier wouldnt be in profit on the back of his tips

Thats exactly what happens to me. Stanley Racing turned me down flat for a £100 bet one time on a 9/1 chance. They would even give me SP.

That happened to me with paddy power, so i started only using betfair, it has been working out great, dont get refused, if theres any trouble getting the bet on it normally takes a couple of seconds to go on and will get split up between a few layers, for example 100 a point on the 13/1 got on Dani Calfornia a few weeks ago and 70 on Just for Mary at 19/1 back in July i think. They went on but only took a couple of seconds, i'd say i may have had trouble in Paddy power with those

You have been recommending Williams for a while. Hope you had a good crack at it. He certainly read that right.

    Veiled Applause
    5.00 York
    1pt win 15-2 Betfred, Skybet

John Quinn is always a man to fear in handicaps, especially when he has one weighted to win and Veiled Applause certainly fits the bill in the closing race at York (5.00) today.

    RELATED LINKS

The six-year-old is nothing out of the ordinary, but he is currently 6lb lower in the weights compared to his latest success on the Flat at Ripon well over a year ago and although his losing sequence is lengthy, he hinted at a return to winning form over 1m at Ayr last month.
Let's not forget he was running some fair races earlier in the season off a mark in the mid-80's and you have to wonder how much lower he can get before he scores for his supporters. He is effective between 1m-1m2f and it appears he doesn't want extremes of going.
Having a good apprentice on your side is important in these races and if the horse is good enough, the jockey won't let us down.
Golden Button is unexposed and could easily be better than the rest, but both her best runs have been on the polytrack at Wolverhampton, which is enough to put me off at the prices.

i think it is great you put these prisewise extra bets up do you know what profit price wise extra has made on a saturday and sunday since it started i think you will find out that apart from williams the rest of the bets are know good and i still say the flat for segal will be by for the best he does struggle with his jumps

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭Seanohea

I know for definite that segal is best on the flat and during the summer, primarily on handicaps. It would be possible to find out for definite through betfair, but would take a bit of time. I know segal is the most profitable, thats way i stick the big stakes on with him at the weekend no matter what he tips, then during the week, depending what i think, the odd time i'll put very small stakes on matt williams or andrew barr's tips. You just cant go wrong sticking by Segal, so far He's the one that always shows a profit consistently, he has the shortest runs of losers also, and then makes up for it with a 16/1 winner. Havent backed a Mel Collier tip since march. Andrew Barr is great in the winter, very good on the jumps, i wouldnt be surprised if he outdoes Segal this winter. He had a great record on the jumps from when pricewise extra started last november

I take it that the number 6 horse at Chepstow is "Beat The Boys"

That is pretty sick for the subscribers like yourself. A cynical person could say they want to make more money from the pnone line.

Don't you get the phone number with the online subscrition then ? Or is it a premium rate number that anyone can phone ? They put in the paper do they.

Beat The Boys the one to catch on seasonal debut
    Beat The Boys
    3.35 Chepstow
    1pt win 9-2 (general)

If there is one stable that I like following at the start of the jumps season it is that of Nigel Twiston-Davies. There is no doubt that the trainer targets the early part of the season with some of his better horses and today at Chepstow Beat The Boys looks very interesting in the handicap chase, writes Tom Segal.

    RELATED LINKS

This horse totally lost his way after an excellent first effort last year behind Joe Lively and he had thrashedthat same horse at Cheltenham the year before. He can race off a 13lb lower mark after those string of bad runs last season but he has always gone well fresh in the past and he is clearly very well treated if back to his best.

Seymar Lad goes well at the track and has a chance, while Tot Of The Knar is at the right end of the handicap, but if beat The Boys is back to his best the 6-1 is much too big.

Gunna the value pick under ideal conditions
    Tartan Gunna
    5.15 Ascot
1pt win 12-1 (Ladbrokes, William Hill)

Ascot is a tricky track to read these days and sometimes an even harder track to ride. That may be the reason why Mark Johnston's horses run the track so well and in the mile and a quarter handicap this afternoon Tartan Gunna looks to have been overlooked by the bookies, writes Tom Segal.

    RELATED LINKS

The form of his Goodwood win is decent and he ran well at Ascot when dropped back to a mile the last time. From a high draw he might be able to dictate and he could improve for the step up to ten furlongs. All those factors make me think he's too big a price at 16-1 this morning.

Its a premium rate number, normally i call it when i cant make it to the internet, i live in london and normally call from there and i know the uk number, but i'm over at home in ireland for 2 weeks and i dont know the irish number, pain in the arse, i would have called at 12.05 if i knew

There isnt that much movement in the prices which is very strange, but at least you didnt miss much Sean.

I'd say the prices stayed steady due to the website not being updated, a lot of people must rely on the internet

Tartan Gunna now 7/1 from an easy to get 14/1 early on. Probably the bookies have liabilities on Doubles and Trables with Segals 8/1 and 6/1 winners.

I have those plus another for some doubles, trebles and fourfolds. does anyone have any idea what might be good to take it on with?

I stand to make about $6500 if it comes in. Is it worth going to Betfair? I have never used it and am a little uncertain on how it works.

    Thanks for any info.

Matt Williams is good, but he has good runs and bad runs. Last winter Andrew Barr was best on the jumps, he did better than segal, and segal is still someone to stick with over the jumps as well. It will be very interesting to see can Andrew Barr repeat his good form of last season

To be fair to them it must be a bit tricky switching from analysing predominantly flat races to jumps. So early season they might be less effective than say come january. I recall TS getting a big priced winner one Sunday in Jan at Aintree. Black Apalachi or something like that.

Tommorrows paper bet is in the Munster National at Limerick by all accounts. Early cuts with PP and SJ are PARSONS PISTOL, DASHING GEORGE, PADDY PUB, and OPERATION HOUDINI. Not saying any of those will be the pick but Parisian Pyramid one of todays picks was cut last night.
