Speaking of Dani's Girl, Timmy Murphy has started his return very strongly he's been on some nice price winners lately. Here's his stats this year

Mystic Collier predicts a big run from Astrodonna
    Astrodonna
    2.30 Lingfield
    1pt win 12-1 (general)

Astrodonna represents the in-form Mark Tompkins stable, has solid Polytrack form - first and third on her only two runs on the surface - and she was in top form when we last saw her in mid-summer, writes Mel Collier.

    RELATED LINKS

She posted career best form to win a Yarmouth handicap by four lengths in August and you can easily forgive a subsequent unplaced run at Epsom as she was held up last and kept in by a combination of the camber and a horseon her right. When she extricated herself she finished well.

I like the fact she has been off the track for 55 days - she showed she could go well fresh when second to Alsace Lorraine (currently rated in the 90's) on her seasonal debut - and that she's owned by Mystic Meg who would no doubt love to take some of her employers money. The race is sponsored by News International.

Of the four shorter priced horses in the market, Napa Star has been a beaten favourite on all four starts since his last win, and is definitely not the heartiest of battlers, and we don't know how El Ameen and Murrin are going to react to first time headgear, or how Hawaana will react to a change of stable.

I'm going to put it in a Lucky 15 with the Hugh Taylor 3. I was going to bet my usual 3pts on each but a 1pt Lucky 15 with treble the odds for one winner is a much better option.

The other tipsters that I look at both have the favourite, Napa Starr tipped.

POINTBREAK, I believe a few weeks ago you commented on the fact that often if a pricewise tip doesn't come in, it is the favourite that wins. Would you have any data on hand to see how often that happens?

I was thinking that if it is a significant number, that may be something else to look at. It may be worth putting a saver on the favourite if there are other criteria involved.

Close enough, but what I was saying was if a lot of money comes for the Pricewise horse the favourite could become the value bet by virtue of its price holding firm or drifting because of Pricewise.
One day last week (cant remember) there was the usual flood of money for the Pricewise Extra horse but close to the start of the race the favourite went from 15/8 to 11/8 and cantered in. Think Seb Ssanders rode it.
I keep meaning to keep some stats on that because you could be right.

Ottoman should have the beating of opposition
    Ottoman Empire
    3.40 Nottingham
    1pt win at 5-1 generally
This well-bred and expensive son of Pivotal had an uninspiring start to his career on fast ground in the spring when he was not showing his true colours because of underfoot conditions. But the switch to sand bought about serious improvement and he’s won two and finished second in three runs on the artificial stuff, writes Mel Collier.

    RELATED LINKS

Hesplit Sir Michael Stoute’s Highland Glen (a subsequent class 2 handicap winner) and Tinaar in what looks a red hot handicap last time, and trainer Dave Lanigan reckons he will "be better on grass" when he gets plenty of give underfoot.
There’s surely improvement to come, and just a bare reading of his last-time-out form gives him the beating on most of these.

Tough La Capriosa fancied to go close
    La Capriosa
    5.10 Nottingham
    1pt each-way at 12-1 generally
The phrase ‘tough’ and ‘as old boots’ spring to mind when considering La Capriosa. She had a spell at Southwell last winter, slogging round in eight consecutive races, recording form figures of 22135213. In fact, she’s made the first three 19 times in a 28-race career (68% of the time) and she only needs to make the first four (assuming 16 or more stand their ground) for each-way punters to make a little profit today, writes Mel Collier.

    RELATED LINKS

A soft-ground Doncaster win in August underlined the fact that today’s conditions will suit. She’sa bigger price than her form suggests she should be because the market assumes high numbers will dominate.
They might not. In the last race at the most recent Nottingham meeting run on soft ground, the advantage seemed to be with those coming up the middle. Even if there does prove to be an advantageous strip on the stands rail, she has the early speed to get across.

RACING POST FRIDAY FURLONG by Tom Segal

Tomorrow is a mammoth racing day at Newmarket and for me, the totesport.com Cesarewitch is the highlight. It's exactly my kind of race.

Don't be mislead into believing this race is about unexposed and improving horses, as all evidence suggests it's not. It's a great betting challenge which allows me to analyse the profile of every runner, and importantly, which short-listed horses are then going to be complemented by a leading jockey. Being in form brings confidence and I certainly feel like I've hit a strong patch of form in recent weeks with 33-1, 22-1, 16-1, 14-1 and 8-1 winners, and I'll be working hard to keep up the momentum over the weekend.

I'll also be assessing the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes, which, coming at the end of what's often a long, hard season for the top horses, can throw up unexpected winners. Last year New Approach's victory was a walk in the park . but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if I think this year's event will be a similar stroll for one leading contender.
G'wan Tom we need a winner or two at this stage.

Yeah, Classic Descent is a big mover now. Down to 12s with bet365!

Thats Hugh Taylors pick, it looks like Classic Descent, its just moved again a little. Not too much enthusiasm for this one it seems. Moved again now 7th best bet rather than 10th.

You must be happy with Pricewise and PWE this month? I know I am. I ducked a few of the losers as well. I dont know if you follow the Hugh Taylor thread. I just had a quick look through it and he hasnt tipped a winner since the 7th of the month Plus he has given about 25 consecutive losers.

Happy enough, showing profit anyway, would like to see a big winner this weekend though. I'd find it hard to follow Hugh Taylor, i dont like it that theres no set time for his bets to come up everyday, and that they dont all come up at once

Stoute's second string Ave fancied to score
    Ave
    4.50 Newmarket
    1pt win at 15-2 generally
Sir Michael Stoute won the Listed fillies and mares race at Newmarket yesterday with the supposed second string and I think he can do the same again in the Pride Stakes this afternoon, writes Ben Hutton.
Crystal Capella is the most fancied from the yard and on form she will take a lot of beating, but I have been very impressed with Ave in recent months and I think she could improve past the favourite. Richard Mullen has built up a good rapport with Ave and her recent work has been as good as ever before, so at 15-2 on ground she will relish, I think she can cause a minor surprise.
The French filly Ashalanda could be anything and Arwaah is very highly regarded by Marcus Tregoning, but Ave in on the upgrade and may well be able to take these.
