Went out too late this morning to get my paper down at the BP station so all the Racing Posts had gone, so I couldn't get a crafty look. But looking at the betting I'm now of the opinion that its TREACLE limerick 4.50. Its got the look of pricewise market moves about it.

Yes - Pricewise selection is Treacle, 4.50, Limerick - just got the paper. Generally 9s - as far as I can see.

advised at 14s, but that was only with Stan James. All of the others were between 8-12.

    Phantom primed
    for repeat success
    Phantom Whisper
    3.10 Goodwood
    1pt win at 8-1 generally

While most of the punting population were still tucked up in bed, the larks were snaffling up the big prices about Phantom Whisper in the 6f handicap at Goodwood today, writes Tom Segal.

    RELATED LINKS

It is easy to see why, because there isn't a trainer in the country with his horses in better form than Rod Millman, highlighted by Light From Mars' win at York yesterday, and in Phantom Whisper he has a very well treated horse.

In this very race a year ago, Phantom Whisper recorded his last victory off an 11lb higher mark and he has conditions just as he'd like them for just about the first time since. The key is the ground, because he loves to get his toe in and with Andrea Atzeni taking another 3lb off and a nice high draw, there can be absolutely no excuses for Phantom Whisper today.

    Essex not to be missed
    off handy mark
    Essex
    5.05 Curragh
1pt win at 9-1 with Ladbrokes

Thirty-runner handicaps in soft ground are not everyone's cup of tea but they do provide some very good betting opportunities and the staying handicap at the Curragh is no exception.

    RELATED LINKS

A price of 9-1 in a bigfield like this may seem on the stingy side, but Essex has a much better chance of winning than those odds suggest and he looks the best bet of the day.

Two starts ago he chased home Silverhand over course and distance in a race that was at least as good as this one and then in the Irish Cesarewitch last time he got trapped too far behind on ground a shade quick. He finished off that race really strongly and, with a good claimer taking 5lb off today, I have no doubt he's well handicapped.
The danger could be the unexposed Prince Chaparral, who may improve a lot for the step up to a staying trip and for the soft ground.

    Essex
    Curragh - 17:05

Looks like they got scared of all the bets pouring in and took the price off for Essex until they can evaluate it better.

It should be Andrew Barr today on Pricewise Extra. Last Monday his tip finished 2nd beaten a neck, and on Tuesday he had a 7/1 winner.

    Kempton 5.30 - Millfield 9/2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭Seanohea

Baker to deliver Millfield with strong late charge
    Millfield
    5.30 Kempton
1pt win at 9-2 with Blue Square, William Hill

Millfield is not for the faint-hearted because this hard puller needs to be dropped out to settle before trying to weave through late, tactics that caused him to hit the crossbar over this 7f Kempton course and distance last time, writes Andrew Barr.

    RELATED LINKS

That form has already been advertised with the third winning next time, and today's race looks weaker with very few of his rivals at the top of theirgame at present. With the excellent George Baker on board, Millfield looks good value at 9-2 and 4-1.

Fantastic ride by Townend yesterday on Treacle. If Ruby gets injured again this year, i'm sure Willie Mullins will have no problem putting Townend in again like last year. As Tom segal has said he's Ruby walsh the 2nd

He did give it a great ride and is one of the riders destined for fame in the future. Hope Ruby is never injured though............ lol

Good stuff, is he on duty again tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,135 ✭✭✭POINTBREAK

Sean, I see O Carroll got a winner today at the Curragh. I know you rate him as well. Keagan Latham also got one albeit at a short price. I think he is going places.

Also Graham Rodways Nap in Trading Post today.

Massive mover in that race and it isnt Hugenot?

    http://www.racingpost.com/news/tipping/

Alison Thorpe is in fine form, with four of her last eight runners having finished first or second, and one of those runners-up, Tabaran, has been well backed in to 9-2 from 10-1 with Bet365 for this extended 2m handicap hurdle, writes Ben Hutton.

Are we definite on this one Mike?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,968 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Well the immediate mover was Huguenot, its still nearly 3 times as bet as the next best in the 4.00

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,135 ✭✭✭POINTBREAK

I think youre right Mike. 36k matched on Betfair against 22k on the other one. I think I will have a saver on the TABARAN anyway.

I also taking it on. Have gone with Overrule.

    Meh! :(

Andy Holding picked out Danis Girl before the race SP 23/1! Sadly I didn't follow his advice.
