Well give him a chance. He has closed some deals on adverts so he might come through yet! Hopefully for your sake!

    This is true.

However, no harm to prod a little bit. Don't want to be hanging on for weeks. My thinking would be you shouldn't bid on something unless you can pay for it.

Vostoks are great watches IMH and you can knock up a collection for stupidly little outlay.

I've been wearing my Vostok Amphibia for the last week for the first time. Really don't like the bracelet, but the watch itself is growing on me a lot.

As I promised, if it didn't sell, I'd let you know - willing to do a deal with anyone on here, naturally:

Replacing the bracelet seems to be the first task for most Vostok owners so you're not alone in that.

Nothing particularly special from a horological perspective about this watch.

I bought it with my first salary cheque (or part of it) when I finished college and I got a job (25 years ago!)......

Found it last week in my parents' attic - popped a battery in and it started without any further fuss......

    Seiko. Nuff said. :)

    Indeed.

I also found the Glycine I was given for my 21st - it had to be carted off to 'hospital' for resuscitation! And I only ever wore that as a dress watch - the Seiko got hammered as an every day watch.

I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that euro-for-euro they are by far the best watch out there.

Certainly nothing special, but I enjoy and wear them all, not at the same time of course :pac:

    SNIPPED PIC

Nothing special? Super collection you have there, I would be proud of that! You've all the bases covered there and the Suunto core all black is my go to tool watch.

    Cool collection Hal. Very eclectic too. No matter what the situation, you have all the bases covered. :) If you don't mind me asking what's the make of the one on the right on the bottom row? It's very like this;

    29zrk0k.jpg

Omega quartz seamaster from 1974-5. When these were out first a couple of others came out with a similar style case, but haven't seen one that's more modern.

EDIT, just noticed Omega Man thanked your post. Spooooky. :pac:

    Another recent enough addition.

Citizen aviator Eco drive 45mm, excluding crown so large enough on my small ish wrists!

Looking for something different at the moment, perhaps a manual poljot....

Never got around to hitting the 50 posts mark on TZ so can't see the advert. Probably just as well because funds aren't there right now :-)

It's sold now, he had it up for £850. They never seem to hang round long on there.

This is a well rare beasty indeed. Found in Girard Perregaux's sales literature at the time,
    RTEmagicC_10_0120_GP_QuartzOriginalAdvertisement.jpg_2.jpg

    girard-quartz.jpg

...but very and I mean very rarely seen in the wild. The dial is a direct representation of the circuit layout of the Motorola chip at the heart of the movement. Expensively printed too, with at least three printing passes, in the flesh it's got a lot of 3D relief going on.

And the milanese strap is an original GP too
    68sdub.jpg
    (and well lush in quality).

Came to me dead as a dodo(and for a real bargain basement price. maybe ye recall what I said earlier of bad ebay listings?), but with the fortification of strong mugs of tae, a glass or two of burgundy, the entreaties to St Jude and the application of man spanners*, it's running again and bang on the money with it. :) The date stamp is 1972, so a very early example of the movement.

Let the rotten tomatoes fly, you heathens you. :p:D

*ps, if you ever wanted a testament to the build quality and engineering layout of anything, much less a watch, then if it can survive my tender mercies it will likely survive the apocalypse. :D

That really is the grail of the whole G-P 352 bunch (some people have even questioned whether it actually ever existed) and I'm extremely jealous. Well done!

Lucky bastard I most certainly am CB on a few levels. God loves a tryer twat. :D

Here she is ticking solidly again after me taking the hammers to it. :)

It is so different to a modern quartz watch in so many ways. Everything is bigger for a start. The quartz module at six o'clock is around 12-14mm long, where a modern one would be closer to 6mm(my Longines Ultraquartz module is 20mm odd. Hand cut crystal so...). It also has a fast/slow trimmer at four o'clock which very few modern quartz have(which IMH is a major pity). This has the first series stepping motor, which is nigh on bulletproof and appears to have even more unobtanium inside the works than the later ones. The stepping motor in these could drive the hands of Big Ben. Since then there has been very little improvement on stepping motors compared to this boyo. No backlash prevention guff going on either, yet it hist the dial markers on the money. It's also much more modular and repairable at this stage of the game. Though even to my gammy eye, they could have made it a little smaller in diameter, if not in depth.

Got this today, nice interesting disc movements. Its quite a looker and has a jap movt. Very comfortable, feels a little heavier then what I am use to.
