Lady Lainy I generally plan out my main meals the night before. This suits me better as I'll generally go with what food I have in the house. Whatever points I have left over I use on snacks and treats. I'm finding that I'll use a few of my treat points every night. I don't generally drink at the weekend and I've never been a fan of take aways so I don't need my treat points for that!

Boxoff I should start driving more on nights out as it would solve the question problem!
I've a really bad exercise habit. I'd go a few weeks where I do great and then I miss a day and it's so hard to get back into it. I felt great after my walk today and cooked a lovely chicken carbonara for dinner!

ooooh i'd love to know how you make the chicken carbonara! YUM!

Monife well done your an inspiration I'm the same my starting weight was 17st 7lbs was mortified but hoping to get my first st this sat at WI I've been walking home from work everyday and going to a Zumba class during the wk I'm much more determined this time round as I said I didn't wanna be this size when I turn 30 in November

    Keep up the good work

    Thanks Layla.

I joined Zumba last night too, it's great! I am only 23 which is even worse to be this weight at this age. I have many reasons that have finally given me the motivation to lose the weight. I'm engaged (no date set) so want to be slim and healthy for that and for the future, and don't want the hassle that's associated with bigger women when trying to conceive... looking forward to being a yummy mummy in the future :)

Thanks for the well wishes, spurs me on more :)

Keep up the good work too :)

Used this recipe. Not sure if someone posted it here or where I got it. I replaced the bold items with an onion (not a fan of mushrooms:o) and I used the WW creme de fraiche as I felt it gave it a nicer taste. It works out at about 10 pro points per serving so it makes a nice dinner.

    Ingredients:

    200g (7oz) dried fettucine
    200ml (7fl oz) chicken stock
    300g (10½oz) skinless chicken fillets
4 rashers Weight Watchers Extra Trimmed Unsmoked Back Bacon
    250g (9oz) mushrooms
60g (2oz) Weight Watchers Reduced Fat Thick Cream
    2 tbsp chopped fresh tarragon
    freshly ground black pepper

    Method:

Boil 200g (7oz) dried fettucine until cooked but still with a little bite, according to the packet instructions.
Meanwhile, bring 200ml (7fl oz) chicken stock to the boil in a separate large pan.
Add 300g (10½oz) skinless chicken thigh fillets, chopped, and 4 rashers Weight Watchers Extra Trimmed Unsmoked Back Bacon, chopped, then cover and simmer for 5 minutes until cooked.
Add 250g (9oz) mushrooms, chopped, and simmer uncovered for 3-4 minutes until the liquid has almost reduced.
Drain the pasta and add to the chicken mixture with 60g (2oz) Weight Watchers Reduced Fat Thick Cream.
Toss to mix, then stir in 2 tbsp chopped fresh tarragon and season with plenty of freshly ground black pepper.
Divide between 4 plates and serve immediately.

Hi, Im the same, I find weekends the real killer but I get weighed on Monday nights so in a way thats a good incentive to stay on track.

Im only in week 4, and because its January and no one has any money after Christmas there hasn't really been much socialising at the weekends recently. However as we get into February and March I know It'll get harded as I could be very good during the week only to fall off the wagon at the weekend!

Weekends are definitely a killer. As soon as Friday comes all I can think of is the Vodka's and nibbles waiting for me at home. I always have to have crisps or nibble-y things when having a few at home, which makes it even worse.

Gave up cashew nuts when I joined but miss them soooo much. I usually have 2 (or 3 on bold night) packets of velvet crunch with my friday drinks (usually about 3 or 4 vodka's).

And would have a couple of drinks on Sat night too with the OH. So end up using like 3/4 of the weeklies on drink and nibbles, which doesnt leave much room for a spur of the moment takeaway splurge...

Just wondering how people plan your week?

do ye point as ye go or do ye plan out what your going to eat during the week or just plan for the next day? Do ye have the same dinners like every Monday, same dinner every Tuesday? I'm thinking of doing out a 7 day menu this weekend. I think it would really work for me. I know what my weak days are. I'm just kicking my self i didn't think of doing this earlier.

My week kinda looks like this....

I know on mondays i have really long days, so i know i need a FAST dinner when i get home or i'll end up eating a loaf of bread as toast!

Tuesday is work placment. I'm freezing and tired by the end of the day, so I crave comfort heavy filling food (spuds)

Wednesdays (mid week blues) REALLY long day in colleg! This is when i need my treat dinner!

Thursday.....aaaaaah the weekend is in sight, short day in college so i can exercise....the days i get to the gym inspire to eat healthy cos i dont want to undo my hard work at the gym

Friday...(TGIF) Experiment night! Try something new...all the washing up can wait for saturday morning! Feet up!

Saturday....Bake more breakfast muffins! And make sure i've enough of everything in stock for the coming week. More gym time saturdays

    Sunday....Weight day! New week starts!

so going to do out daily meal by meal menus, taking in every little break i have in college to keep me in line :D

Hi Lady Lainy, I plan my dinners for the coming week on the weekend. I plan what ingredients I will need and what recipes I will cook. Do the shopping on Sat and cook on Sunday. I usually make 2 dinners (3 portions of 1 4 of the other) and eat them during the week. I don't mind eating the same dinner a few nights as long as it's tasty.

If I didnt plan, I would be all over the place and would end up getting a takeaway or eating loads of something bad, like waffles. I keep a few WW frozen meals in the freezer just in case aswell.

Going to make carrot and coriander soup this weekend and have it in work during the week. Always make my lunch the night before, otherwise I would go to the on site (calorie laden) restaurant. Lunches I usually make...

WW bagel with tuna & lettuce & pack of snack a jacks or other 2PP crisps.
WW Pitta with tuna and lettuce.
Tuna, lettuce, tomatoe, cucumber & beetroot salad, no dressing just black pepper.
Or soup and 2 slices of mc cambridge.

    :)

    Monife, you're on the ball.

Thats the way to do it Lainy, you have to plan, i swear by the soup, i make it on Sundays with the free veg and add a small potato to thicken it.

this soup can be frozen when cold, in portions. i sometimes use freezer bags if i'm short of space in freezer, its so handy, the soups heats up really fast.

    Good Luck Lainy :P

It tastes lovely. You can adjust the recipe to your own liking. That's why I love WW is that I can eat proper food and have my treats while still losing weight. I tried one of their pizzas before and it wasn't nice. Someone posted the other day that half a Dr. Oetker Hawaii pizza is only 10 pro points. I'm gonna have it tomorrow with a salad. Much better than WW pizzas :)

I've been stuck in a bit of a rut the last few weeks so have spent my Friday night in going through my old trackers. I have matched the weeks that I had big losses with that week's and the previous week's tracker in order to see what I did. I've actually learnt a lot from them so hopefully it will help me get back on track. It could be helpful for anyone who is struggling to do this. Just a little advice :D

My cooker is no longer an expensive ornament
My local take away is missing me

Got some great news today so celebrating with some vino and had a kebab, but seeing as I also have a mental weekend at work I got up early this morning and was coooking like a mad yoke, have some seriously low point meals all ready for the next few days, and will be bringin a packed lunch tomorrow and sunday.

to the doubters - give quorn a go - its a great way of having things like spag bol and shepards pie without blowing the PP bank. My boyfriend arrived earlier and was only delighted to see I was cooking my NEW shepards Pie with turnip and carrot instead of spud. Still havent told him there is no actual mince meat in it and I dont think I will either!!!

Oh, it's busy here tonight. Had a friend round for dinner but made WW curry with half rice and half potato chips. Shared a bottle of wine between us. The curry is really nice but I can't get it to thicken. The cornflour is just a pain to get right!

Monife, cld u post the carrot and coriander recipe? Was looking for a good carrot soup recipe.

I don't go to class as I don't live in the UK anymore so this thread is a great source of encouragement and inspiration for me.

I make a big pot of veg soup on a Sat/Sun and it sits in the fridge all week and I have a big mug of it as I'm making dinner each evening (it get nicer as the week goes on). Although there are two stock cubes in it, it is actually zero per portion as you drink so little each day. I also chop all my salad veg and put them into individual cartons and make salads with tuna/crab/prawns/ham or chicken to take to work each day to make into sambos. Often I'd have a bowl of salad before dinner too or if I'm peckish weekend afternoons instead of reaching for a pack of crisps or bar.

    Carrot & Coriander Soup

Chop a load of carrots, onions, potatoes (if you want, to thicken it) in small cube bits and garlic and fresh coriander, add some soy sauce (a little) if you have it, simmer in chicken stock cube and water until soft.

Mash with potato masher or blend with blender till smooth. If too thick add more water/stock cube. Freezes well. Keep some fresh coriander to put on top when serving if you like.

    Enjoy!

Listen all you young ones out there!! The fab trendy clothes in the shops at the moment, particularly New Look, Topshop, Republic and Forever 21 should be enough motivation you all need to keep on track. Oh to be young again.

Here I am just turned 40, 5ft 4, under 10 st, size 10 - 12, I'd love to be wearing some of the gear. Since early 30's I've had to monitor my weight and WW is definitely the best way, this new system is even better maintenance wise - so when you all get to your target keep in mind that it's easy from there.

Another thing I am slightly heavier now than my target weight 10 years ago but much better in proportion and look better, not sure if it's the exercise or age or sizes getting bigger but all good.

You young things are doing the right thing getting a handle on these issues now. Keep it up, you'll appreciate all your hard work now later in life. Keep smiling.

Great advice Kashmir, I often wonder will I still be as obsessed in ten years time, but I guess I will!

Girls, I lost a lb this week, but also found out I'm pregnant! I'm still going to follow ppts though, not in the hopes of losing weight, I have a different focus now, but because the principles are to promote healthy eating and healthy diet. Hopefully by following the guidelines I won't be left with a mountain of weight to loose come September! We will see, gained about 4 stone on first pregnancy, and 2.5 on second...

7 lbs from goal now, but all I want is for our lo to be healthy, so am going to forget about that for now!

up 2.4lbs this week...I was expecting it to be alot worse...I'm very happy...i pulled my self back, didnt lose control. yes i cracked under the pressure...but i didnt let it break me! Not this time!

One thing i noticed...it was a tough week....but i didnt throw in the towels. If i had a "bold session/meal" well next morning i just started fresh, if i had a bad lunch that day....i didnt say "ah to hell with it the damage is done...might as well just have that whole pizza now"

I think thats what i like about the new system, if you had a bad day. you dont steal points from other days...you have a bad day....fine...get up next morning and start fresh with your full daily points.

I really admire you doing weight watchers while away in a country where much of their diet is so different to ours.

I lost lots of weight back in 2007/2008 but then I went off travelling for 18 months (South America, Oz, NZ, and South East Aisa) The weight crept back on because I didnt have access to much of the types of food Id been use to eating on WW.

You're obviously living and working over there as opposed to just travelling through so you can control what you cook for yourself and eat much better.

I hope you're having a ball, believe me you're missing out on nothing but doom & gloom here! Iv been unemployed since I returned home and its soul distroying. One of my biggest regrets is not accepting a job I was offered in Laos teaching English. Being unemployed is not a good thing when you're prone to eating out of boredom and for comfort!

    x:)
