Congrats to Alex - justice was done, but I was surprised Eoghan went out ahead of JLS.

We were home late so watched it on Sky+ on TV3 but JUST as Dermot said "and the winner is...." the recording ended!!!! (anyone else have this happen? Bloody TV3 muppets!)

Luckily though we saw the last bit on itv.com but it was VERY annoying!

She may be a blubbering mess but dare i say it - i think she may b better than Leona! Her voice seems stronger and oh my god that performance with Beyonce - GOOSEBUMPS! I've watched it about 20 times on youtube since last night - amazing! Leona is still brilliant tho - brilliant performance of the snow patrol song a few weeks back.:)

I think Alex is more interesting that Leona and may make a better performer. Leona's voice was perfect in X Factor but she was like Mariah/Whitney/Celine all combined into one when she sang their songs, too smooth and bland. Alex has more spirit and more grit in her voice and the Beyonce comparison is not far off the mark if she grows into it. She should be given more uptempo or funky material to show off her range. She was a mess yesterday though. Hope she'll pick up!

I agree. I think Alex performs the songs better if you know what i mean. I do love Leona but Alex is a real diva (in the best sense of the word obv!) But Beyonce was incredible!

I actually thought JLS sang Hallelujah better (Even though neither were outstanding) but ALex deserved the win, she's a better singer. JLS look like more fun though and way more marketable, I want a JLS teddy! :pac:

Really ?? Wow ....I thought that they both gave incredible reditions of this song. The problem is that most people associate this song with Jeff Buckely which is truly a shame. I prefer Cale's version over both his and Cohen's.

I actually thought that JLS was going to win after their performance. I looked at my wife and said 'the bar has been set' and that Alexandra was going to have to 'bring it on home' is she was going to win.

She 'brought it on home' with an amazing performance.

Congratulations to all three finalists. They should all be able to have careers for themselves in the music industry in the forseeable future.

I agree i thought JLS had their best performance of the whole show when they sung hallelujah. They really had a good chance of winning - i don't think it was a foregone conclusion that Alex was gonna win like. But she did so yay! Like you said anyway JLS will have a future in the business.:)

I'm glad JLS didn't win. don't get me wrong they are good. But give it a few months and Louis will turn them into another westlife. the poor guys wudn't stand a chance.

Ya that's the one thing i would worry about alright - they are (imo) an r'n'b group - well that's what they should do - we need another westlife like a hole in the head! They need to break away from Louis NOW!!!:D

Just spent the whole day watching the repeat episode, productive Sunday for panda :)

Really pleased Alexandra won. The real star of the show for me was Dermot O'Leary.X factor is much better with him as presenter!

O Leary is a hell of a lot better than Kate Thornton. Holly Willoughby on the xtra factor grates after a while, however.

Couldn't agree with you more , Willoughby is really irritating....Dermot is great though!

Nah, Dermot's an ok presenter but I'm not overly mad about him. Can't quite put my finger on why though.

    Kate Thornton was shite though.

Yeah Dermot's not a patch on his Big Brother Little Brother years, although its good to have him and Louise flying the flag for Ireland :)

No she's a bit much - she kind of overdoes the perky little blonde act!! Remember there a few weeks back when rachel was in it and she hadn't had a good week and Holly kept pushing it like "Rachel what happened, it didn't go so well did it etc etc" grrrr! She just wouldn't shut up!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,835 ✭✭✭unreggd

Ah she's hormonal now since she's up the duff :P

Not mad about Dermot anymore, he's really OTT with his little quips, and kinda tries to hard

    I like Holly

Did anyone watch all extra factor .. I missed it. Was wondering who the judges wrote down in the first week who they thought would win ?

I didnt see it either but i read it on youtube somewhere - if my memory serves me right it was Simon: Rachel, Cheryl:Diana, Danni: Laura and Louis: Eoghan - so none of them were right ha!:D

I don't think Dermot's a great host- he never seems too bothered, just appears to be going through the motions. I like Holly though, she's great fun.
Louis has to be the most entertaining judge, in my opinion.

No, none of the judges were right but they all had people who made the live shows and Louis' choice made the final.

I wonder how Alex will do now? Will she sink without a trace or be a huge success? Only time will tell I suppose.
I wanted JLS to win this year but do worry that, as a previous poster said, Louis will make them a Westlife clone. Although Westlife are all millionaires with several number ones under their belt so it could be worse I suppose..

I think Alex and JLS [even though I still think they're MEH] will breathe some life into the music industry

And Simon wants to pitch Alexandra and Leona against eachother, so I guess that'll keep em both on their toes

JLS need lots of work, but hopefully they become a good boy [and not out of retirement MAN] -band, who do lots of big productions and stuff

Wonder when Alex'll bring her album out

Leona's second album will be out around this time next year
[I know cos she told me when I was on telly with her! :D]
Then she's goin on a massive tour in 2010

And I cant wait for Ruth, I can see her bein as big as her rack! :)

Aparently the PR guy she has with her on her gigs, like the one she did here on Thursday, is from Simon's label, as he wants to see how she is outside the show, and with people, reception etc, cos I think he wants to sign her himself

and she'll be doin loads of Rock festivals in Oz with Danni, so that should be good

I dont think Eoghan will make a career, maybe a long panto stint, if he's lucky :P

Simon was only bein nice cos he was his last act

So from this year, I think the ones who'll make a decent career are:
    Obv Alex
    JLS
    Ruth
    Laura

Maybe Rachel, even though she's a prick and has shown she'd be the hardest person to work with, but at the end of the day, with a rare voice like hers, she'd sell €D'$

Poor Eoghan, I think he was far too young for this anyway. At least Louis told Alex he thought she wasn't ready and she came back 3 years later and WON. I think Eoghan was out of his depth at the end. I guess it depends what Simon wants to do with him..
Did anyone see the Xtra Factor where Alex asked Holly to name her baby after her? 'Call the baby Alex, whether it's a boy or a girl..' Holly was just like 'eh..' and then changed the subject before she made any rash promises. :pac:

its not even a christmas song, does anyone have link to the cohan live versoin

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,588 ✭✭✭JP Liz

Well done Alexandra and i'm glad she won.

Beyonce was amazing live - take note Britney thats how you perform

I really wish Eoghan and JLS had got someone better than Boyzone and Westlife and equal star power as Beyonce to duet with.

Simon went a tad OTT with the praise for Cheryl having the winning act i cant remember him doing that for Danni last year

you can set your sky+ to record 5 or 10 min's after the programme finishes, you should change it in your settings i used to hate that happening:mad:

In fairness to TV3 the broadcast was running 5-6mins late. Even on ITV the second show started late and finished late.
However I still think all the broadcasters should send out an epg signal like bbc do so the programme will keep recording.
