As regards the Jeff Buckley version of Hallelujah its not a patch on John Cale's version, which is the finest version of Cohan's classic song!

Hmmmm. Had never heard that version before but listened there and I still prefer Jeff Buckley's. Its the really slow pace that I love about it. its a full 2minutes longer than Cale's version...

rufus wainright definitely does the best version of the song....its just not taken seriously because it was used in Shrek

I'm going to go out on a limb here but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if that vote was rigged. To me, the final decision on who was going to win this was made by Cowell before this show even aired. There was a concerted effort to get her on the winners podium, from the duet with Beyonce to the fawning praise by Cowell at every given opportunity.

Have to say I totally agree. Don't get me wrong, given the selection I think Alexandra was a deserving winner but there was definitely a huge effort made by the production team to promote her.

From the songs she was given, the way her 'dying mother' and deprived childhood sob story emerged, being mentored by 'the nation's sweetheart' Cheryl and even the way the show was edited. Specifically tonight when the performance reminders were shown, JLS's clips were awful whereas Alexandra's always focused on her song's crescendos.

Not to mention the fact that she dueted with a global star and the other two got given Boyzone and Westlife. The nail in the coffin was of course an endorsement from God himself, Mr Cowell.

This is the first year I've watched the show and it does make for great entertainment but I have to say I have huge reservations regarding the selection process for all these reasons.

Dunno if anyone's watching the Xtra Factor, but they just announced who won the shows, and Eoghan got the most votes SIX times, Alexandra 2, JLS 1, Diana 1.

    That's nuts.

Did they open those envelopes in which the judges had their "predictions"?

Cant believe Eoghan won so many shows...Simons licking his lips at the record sales for Eoghan..

Yeah, from what I remember it was:

    Simon - Rachel
    Cheryl - Diana
    Danni - Laura
    Louis - Eoghan

I'm just after switching it on there now. In all fairness Alex comes across as someone with the mentality of a retarded 7 year old and the personality of a cabbage. She is making me feel uncomfortable listening and watching her.
I accept its a lot to take in but its a good hour since the result and she's till acting like a mess.
I'm gonna make a prediction. She will make for a terrible interviewee.

How wrong you are! Just watched her on the Xtra Factor and she had regained her composure, she fully expected JLS to win! Remember she had been rejected on the x-factor 3 years previous so this was her dream she won the competition so she has every right to show genuine emotion, but hey theres always the knockers like yourslf how has some you've obviously got some major hangup with her

Not happy. Not happy at all.

I just don't like Alex. I would have preferred to see JLS win.

Moment of the night: When Alex was crying on Beyonce's shoulder.

I was screaming "stop crying on Beyonce" at the tv. It just seemed so wrong.

Oh and I love Boyzone and I wont apologise for screaming like a little girl when they were singing!

Beyonce won it single-handedly for Alex. I thought that the final would be between Eoghan and Alex.

I actually thought JLS sang Hallelujah better (Even though neither were outstanding) but ALex deserved the win, she's a better singer. JLS look like more fun though and way more marketable, I want a JLS teddy! :pac:

Well done on Alex winning. I really wanted JLS to win it tho as it would of been nice to see a group win it.

It was done and dusted after that performance. But to be fair, Alexandra schooled JLS with her performance of Hallelujah so she deserved it, no question about it.

I was surprised that Eoghan finished 3rd given just how many different demographs he'd have voting for him. But I think his performance with Boyzone did him no favours, Cowell must have really struggled to get the stars in for the final. That or he sabotaged his own act.:pac:

She may be a blubbering mess but dare i say it - i think she may b better than Leona! Her voice seems stronger and oh my god that performance with Beyonce - GOOSEBUMPS! I've watched it about 20 times on youtube since last night - amazing! Leona is still brilliant tho - brilliant performance of the snow patrol song a few weeks back.:)
