Spingler I'm sorry you're going through a rough patch of it at the moment,
It's horrible the waiting to hear what the verdict is after your test results, hopefully some medication to regulate your cycle will help.
I really hope you'll get your positive result soon and it will mean all the stress will have been worthwhile.

Galah, that is terrible that the GP didn't consider your husband wanting to start a family before prescribing him that medication. That's ridiculous that the side effects weren't discussed with him first.

Quins5, That's a good idea for you both to have time off when ttc, at least you'll both be nice and relaxed.
My best friend and her partner were trying for over a year without success & it was really stressing her out.
She went away for a nice spa break for the weekend & completely relaxed, she was pregnant the next month. Hopefully it'll be the same case for you :)

Dublinlady, thats really good news that its a one month wait rather than three :)
I'm sorry that you got a negative this month, I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason, at least this way you can have the jab & tip top health to ttc in a months time :)

Well after getting my smiley face on the clearblue ovulation tester Wednesday we've put a good effort in the past 48 hours.
I'd love to say I'm starting the 2 week wait, but the way my cycle has been it could be a 3+ week wait. Fingers crossed :)

Cap i admire the way you support everyone, it what makes coming onto the boards worthwhile. a smiley face is great:) im waiting to see mine in the next few days so at least we can give it a bit of a shot, hopfully my lining will buid enuf to hold the eggs when it comes bobbing out.

I hope all you girls enjoy a lovely relaxing weekend, with the least amount of stress, this is what i am aiming for at least. Just had a long walk in the mountains with my hubby and we are in much better form than the last couple of days. Gona have a glass or two of wine tonight and chill the hell out... :):):)

I'm due tomorrow/Monday, so today, I am spending the day on the couch in my pj's:D I'm not upset that it hasn't happened this month, surprisingly. I feel emotionally fine. Physically I feel like I've been kicked. Hard. But that'll pass in a few days:p

    Happy Saturday everyone.

    xx

Thanks again ladies, feeling alot better today, period coming today or tOm and now at peace with having to put it in hold for a month or two, happy weekend anyway, enjoy trying/forgetting/testing as appropriate!

My prolactin was a mere 126 on the last blood test last month, anything under 400 is normal, so its a level playing field and game on!:)

I got my Ovulation Prediction positive so its 'business time' for the next few days.;).

Getting much stronger readings from my OPK, which means that my LH surge is stonger, and Mittelsmertz on the left side, feeling optimistic that it will happen sometime soon for us.

Aw thanks springler :o Hope you enjoyed your glass of wine & fingers crossed all goes well with the consultant this week :)

Fingers crossed for you too Neyite, I'm on the 2 (ish!) week wait at the moment, so trying not to think about things too much!

Probably a silly question (I specialise in those :o;)), I tested Tuesday I think it was using the clearblue ovulation tester & got a big smiley face so tried accordingly. However the following evening I tested again & no smiley face.

I know we've discussed here previously how short the window of ovulation is that it might be hard to discern exactly when from the tests; but was there any point in me still 'trying' for the few days after? Or had the window of opportunity gone then?

I only got the smiley face once and I did lots of tests - our son is over 11 months old :D

have been trying for so many months now that i have lost count! this month was different though, i always-i mean always have gotten ovulation cramp-im so regular too one or two days out at the most, this month i didnt get my ov cramp. i kinda thought i got it last night but it seems too late af is due in five days. no fertile cm either now. the cramp was in my right side last night and right now its kinda crampy but strange crampy more on the left but all over really.

i got af spotting on feb14th it stopped than got af on 16th to 18th should be due af on 18th of march from 27th to5th was my fertile time according to my calender but i never got my cramp-till last night! very strange.

i have no sore breast and id normally have sore breasts the week before af. woke up with a killer headache today hangover type but i wasnt drinking! :(

could i just be ovualting this late?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,880 ✭✭✭caprilicious

Thanks Cathy, thats very reassuring to know :)

Talkin it is very possible, a few months ago I had a similarly strange cycle, and got cervical mucus at day 18. I thought it was far too late for me to be ovulating, but I think thats exactly what was happening.
Might be worth your while trying an ovulation test to give you peace of mind?

curiosity won and i took ovulation test negative on that though. might be a bit late to show up on test though

Dunno about the clearblue monitor, but the OPks go positive for LH hormone, which surges up to 36 hrs before ovulation, so to err on the side of caution, I would assume its possible up to 2 days after.
part of the sperm meets egg plan is:
Start trying every second day from day 8. once you get your postive opk, try for three straight days, skip one day and have one last try on the fourth day.

Hi guys, Thought you could all do with a laugh. Last night after all our issues we finally got down to a bit of decent relaxed lovey dovey. Only day 8 so no big pressure on us. We have two dogs who sleep on the landing.
Just as we were getting to the best bit the small one, who's crated starts to bark, so the bigger one comes into the room, looks at us and tries to jump on the bed. I can't remember laughing so much :-) I guess we'll have to be less enthusiastic :D

I have been spotting for a week :( It's not blood (just brownish and mucousy - sorry, tmi) and I've no cramping at all, but surely it's not a great sign.... any advice? My first scan is next Monday, this week is gonna drag. My symptoms have eased off a bit too (nausea, sore boobies, fatigue) which is making me even more paranoid.... I need to think positive, here goes: - no cramping, belly is huge, spotting is NOT blood. repeat, ad infinitum

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,846 ✭✭✭barbiegirl

DetectivFoxtrot Sometimes cramping can be the muscles getting ready and the spotting is fine, I think the figure is 80% of those who spot don't have a mis. Fingers crossed and you'll be in my thoughts. Big hugs

Big hugs to you, keep up with the positive thoughts and try not to stress yourself. How many weeks are you now? Can you get to the docs before Monday?

I'm due yesterday/today. During the night if I'm exact....So this is now day 29 of a 28 day cycle:confused: I did a test on Friday (first response) and it was negative, not even a hint of a positive line.

Today, I have sore boobs and cramping, but nothing too hectic. Yesterday and Saturday, I was extremely crampy, moody and tired. I was so sure I'd wake up to my period this morning.

I have a test in the bathroom and of course, I want to take it but I'm so sick of peeing on sticks and getting negative results.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,601 ✭✭✭DetectivFoxtrot

Thanks Lucyfur & BarbieGirl. I'm only 6w2d so very early days still. Don't know if there's any point in going to the doc, she'll probably just say wait til Monday for scan.... ugh. I want to be so happy (and of course I am deep down) but cannot stop having negative thoughts. It's driving me nuts. I really wish the spotting would go away as it's dominating my mind, and actions (I keep checking it and monitoring it and then fretting about it)... As this is my first pregnancy I have no clue as to what is 'normal' for me.
I should see the heartbeat at the scan (I'll be just over 7 weeks) so hopefully that'll put my mind at rest. Lots of internet sites say spotting is common.... but I'm still down about it. I'm even afraid to post on the preggo board yet (think I posted only once) as I'm afraid of tempting fate, silly I know... I reckon I'll need some acupuncture to help me start enjoying this pregnancy. I was going to start soon to aid conception, so might as well give it a go in pregnancy.

Bummer about your negative test. Personally I don't mind seeing negatives, but if you do, I'd hold off testing, wait for your period to come, or if it's late test a few days after it's due. Some people find the early testing heartbreaking, if you do I would advise to steer clear. Also if you are using branded tests you'll also beat yourself up over the cost. that's why I buy my tests in quantities of 100 from eBay - no money guilt! Keep us posted as to how it goes for you ;)

I've heard great reports about acupuncture, I'm going to try it myself, I really need to chill out and enjoy trying to conceive;)

I bled when I was pregnant with my son. I felt exactly like you did. I was afraid to tell anyone, even my mum. 9 years later he's a big strapping lad:D. I know it's much much easier said than done but try your best to relax. Be good to yourself and spoil yourself a little:D At least until you get a bit of peace of mind on Monday.

Detective Foxtrot - I really hope that this is nothing to be worried about -but I totally get why you are checking every 5 mins -I would too. Its such a precious cargo. I find that just before my period, my whole awareness is on 'what if I am' 24/7 whether its at work lifting boxes, or at home doing normal everyday things. I can only imagine what it must be like when you do finally get that positve test.

And I am superstisious too. Not normally, but with regards to TTC, I am. I have it planned that I would wrap up this teeny tiny GAA Jersey for him to open as a way of telling himself the good news when it arrived. I cant bring myself to buy one yet.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this and have just started trying to conceive with my boyfriend, im 26 and hes 29. We are really excited, although trying to be a bit blase about it. But I have wanted a baby for so long and am thrilled it may actually happen! I have been off the pill since December, and froom what I have read it usually takes about 6 months for your body to get back to normal.
But my main worry is, my body was never normal! My periods were always irregular, like I never had a clue when they would turn up, months could go by. My main reason for going on the pill was to regulate this. After coming off the pill I had the regular bleed from the pill and then waited on a proper period. Which arrived a month ago. I was thrilled because ive heard of women waiting months and months for a period.
But since then no period. I have the pms the bad cramps the lot but no period. So Im irregular again. How does this affect me conceiving? Bit worried this may not happen for me. I had a small cyst on my ovary when I was about 15 but never thought anymore about it.
Bit worried. Just looking for advice. Two of my sisters are pregnant and Im beginning to feel like its not meant to be for me?

My heart goes out to you, its such a nervous time.
If its any help, I had bleeding from week 8-9 when I was pregnant with my daughter. It was as you described, brown/mucous & my morning sickness/sore boobs/tiredness only kicked in a week or so later.

I nearly passed out when I seen it & automatically thought the worst, so I rang the hospital & they brought me straight in for a scan.
It was fantastic the reassurance it gave me & the scan was an added bonus :)I think if there's any history of miscarriage the hospital prefer to err on the side of caution & scan/check things out.

They told me bleeding that early can usually be an excess of fluid left over from the last period. The stretching of your inners literally squeezes all the old stuff out.
Brown blood is old blood, unless it was red I don't think they stress too much over it.

    I hope you're ok x

Sugar Addict - welcome on board :) My friend had really irregular periods (like none for 2/3 months then 2 in the one month ) & she got pregnant.
It did take about a year after she came off the pill, but I think thats because it was so hard for her to pinpoint when she was ovulating. Best of luck!

Barbiegirl still pmsl at your dogs!!

Neyite that is such a gorgeous thing to do, the teeny gaa jersey!
Thanks for your advice with the opks x

Df, my heart goes out to you, i really hope all will be well. I cant imagine the worry that surounds you, hopfully you will get reassurance when you get it checked. Like cap said it could be old blood hanging around from last p just being expelled. Thoughts are with you.

Sugar addict welcome to this board, great place to let your thoughts be free... my friend just announced she is preg, she has never had reg periods:)

Bought some opks off that website thank you for link df.

Well my story changed from fri, they thought fri i wwas ovulating on day 3, but yesterday i got a call from nurse to say consultant thinks what was on the scan was an unruptured cyct (follicle) from previous cycle, it should have dissoved itself, but i have to go for another scan on day 3 this next cycle and if its still there they will have to drain it. so no treatmet till next month once that cyst is gone. its a major frustration but once we get a handle on what my uterus is at it wil lbe great.

Neyite re the gaa jesey, i have a little yelleow comb and brush in my bag to remind me that it will happen, just wanted someting tangible to believe.

hope this is a good week/month for all of us xxxxxxxx:)

Neyite and Spingler, we bought a little Christening outfit on St Marks Square in Venice on our honeymoon, as a kind of family heirloom thing. Every so often I take it out just to look, I know we'll get to use our little things, soon :-)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,601 ✭✭✭DetectivFoxtrot

Hi Sugar Addict, the best thing to do is actively try for a year, hopefully it won't take you that long to conceive, but really I don't think there's any point in worrying until 12 months has passed (easier said than done, I know all to well). Some women with irregular periods go on to have babies no problem, it may just take a bit longer, while others need medication, as the reason for irregular cycles is due to poor/no ovulation (like in my case) or have PCO/S, and you may need Clomid or Femara to solve those types of conditions.

Can I advise you to buy some OPKs in bulk (Ovulation prediction kits). You can get them on eBay - about €20 for 100.
    Link:
    http://cgi.ebay.ie/100-OVULATION-PREGNANCY-TEST-TESTS-U-CHOOSE-FP-CHART-/310301714844?pt=UK_Health_HealthCare_RL&hash=item483f6c699c#ht_9214wt_905

Also because you have irregular cycles you will need to rely on your body signs for impending ovulation, e.g. clear/watery/raw egg white type mucous, ovulation pain (usually a pinching pain on left or right side).

Obviously the most important thing is to have regular sex (at least once every 3 days, and more around ovulation).

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on your progress. ;)
    Best baby wishes!!

    Hey everyone:)

I started acupuncture today. BLISS. Had acupuncture, cupping, massage and heat lamps. She said I'm a knot of stress and tension but right now I feel great. Going back for another session on Friday:D Usually I hate massage, didn't particularly enjoy this one as it either hurt or tickled but OMG my shoulders are where they're meant to be, not up around my ears:D

    Hope everyone is well xx

2 days over - and I don't dare to test, for fear of jinxing it...:o

anyone recommend a good test (I will have to do it eventually, I guess) - will tescos own brand do, or rather invest in a pharmacy one?

wish me luck that everything sticks and we'll have some good news later! ;-)

Still haven't gotten my period:confused: I was due Sunday/Monday, had the usual period cramping over the weekend, it eased up on monday, felt great Tuesday and now today, I have abdominal...erm....it's not cramping....more of a dull ache...also, my boobs are much bigger and quite tender. I did another test on Monday and it was negative....I'm confused:(

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,880 ✭✭✭caprilicious

Lucyfur, maybe leave it a day or two and test again in the morning when the HCG hormones are higher.
If you are pregnant, the pregnancy hormones might not be strong enough yet

    Fingers crossed for you x
