Thanks guys. Can't believe I only had a 23 day cycle then. How on earth would you have any chance of conceiving with that? So much for clomid helping.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,130 ✭✭✭dreamstar

So I have finally gotten my date for my surgery to remove the cyst. And it's the exact same date I had the D&C after the miscarriage last year. :(:(
    How weird.

Just can't wait to get this whole thing sorted so we an get back to TTC again!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,030 ✭✭✭yellow hen

Great news dreamstar. Try not to give too much thought as to the significance of the date. It's a positive event and marks the start of a new body with lots of potential for success! :)

I'm on the third day of my period and it is ridiculously heavy...not remotely as painful as usual but it's just so heavy, that it's scary.

Thanks Yellow Hen. That's a great way to look at it!

Do you think it's the Clomid messing with your periods???
Are you ok? Nothing worse than that. I remember once having to leave work early because mine was so heavy. I was petrified every time I stood up that I was leaking. :(

Hey ladies, any experiences of the pre-conceive supplement from Pillar healthcare? Its the only supplement/remedy I haven't tried and was recommended by my new consultant. I have been taking pregnacare for 3 years now and lots of other stuff along the way. While we are running out of treatment options after 3 years of TTC I dont want to rush into taking another "miracle" supplement and waste energy and money.

If your consultant works for ReproMed, then it might be helpful to know that they are affiliated with Pillar. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, but might be why its being suggested to change from Pregnacare to Pillar.

In any case, they are a supplement, not a medication. My fertility specialist told me in 2010 that supplements are grand, but all you really need is Folic Acid which you can get for a few quid. If you are otherwise healthy and have a balanced diet, there was no need to spend money on pre-conception supplements.

After 3 years TTC though, I hope that your consultant is suggesting more solutions than a vitamin supplement though?

Hi Neyite, cheers for response. Napro suggested the pre-conceive. I had not heard of it before, was with two other clinics and started the process with an endocrinologist in Mount Carmel, and they never told me of pre-conceive.

Yep, have tried different meds/treatment over the year ( lots of cycles on "wait and see", metformin, clomid, femera, puregon, gonal f, tomaxfien, ovarian drilling, laparoscopy, cyclogest, provera, pregnyl, back on the pill 3 or 4 times, and a million scans). We considered IVF but given past experiences are reluctant to go that route.

    Might stick with pregnacare only.

It really is a personal choice I think. :)

I just googled there and its looking like €150 upwards a month for each partner for the supplement?? And the recommended time for maximum effectiveness is 6 months of usage? That's...€1800. For vitamins

You've got me intrigued now.. on one hand, if they are amazeballs and have huge success then they are well worth the dosh, but its a huge amount to pay for a vitamin supplement.

Here is the ingredients listing for Preconceive, here is the one for pregnacare. I know someone who knows sh!tloads about supplements, so I'm gonna pm a link to this post to her.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15 cheerful14

Cheers for the links and the help, v much appreciated. I was only recommended to take the pre-conceive , DH only has to attend the odd appointment with me and be told how great he is ;-)

No real stories out there about success of pre-conceive. If €1,800 was all it took I would more than happily part with the cash right now but past experiences and thousands spent I am little more realistic and cautious.

Today I am realistic, tomorrow probably not, pre-conceive will likely be in my online basket tomorrow night;-)

That's the concern - the lack of success stories about it. I'm sure its a great supplement, but really wonder if its as miraculous for TTC as it's price would suggest.

I've pm'd my friend anyway, and I've her Fertility Code book at home so I'm going to see if there is a list in that that I can compare it to.

Same thing happened me last week... Because it came so early and was that heavy, it completely caught me by surprise. Was really embarrassing (pale coloured trousers didn't help :()

    Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
Oh you poor thing - it's my worst fear.

I have the opposite problem these days - my cycle is getting longer and longer. Last month was 35 days and this month 37!
Am hoping the surgery will help all of that.

I had a girl as well and she's full of devilment at the moment.
Are you going to try IVF again? You were so lucky being successful 1st time around. Have your periods come back yet? (I saw in the Parenting forum that you are bf'ing)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

Aw it just took me by suprise and I ended up having to leg it from work. So I'm cd 7 now and mucus is making me think I could be close to ovulating which I guess wouldn't be off the radar if my previous cycle was only 23 days. What do you think? Did you concieve naturally or via Ivf? (If you don't mind me asking that is!)

I conceived naturally. We were signed up for IVF alright coz both of our results were brutal. My ovulation date moves around so I absolutely have to use opks every month. But my cycles are Always around 23 days. They are sometimes longer and sometimes shorter. I've had 27 day cycles I've had 18 day cycles but by and large they are in and around the 3 weeks.

You're on clomid yeah? Shouldn't you be tracking ovulation by something more than mucus?

Still working in Europe. IVF is free over here so if we need it for no.2 I want to take advantage of it rather than waiting til we move back to Ireland (in the next few years prob) where it'll cost 5-10k a pop

Bobskii I just dug out your post on 19th Dec 2013 when I got my BFP haha.
I'll never forget that reaction :P It was bang on the money considering I'd been on the day before talking about downing a whole bottle of wine (having been off drink for TTC) and up half the night hyperventilating over my AMH results.

That was one of the more dramatic weeks of my life.....:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

lol !I remember reading your comment checking on the name again and thinking forkin hell that's unreal :D
free ivf jesus that's great .If we've to use the frostie I think it's a lot cheaper this time round . last year was definitely my year!

Yes I'm just finished my third (fourth?) month of clomid but I'm in the public system at the moment and they don't scan follicles as standard. They do blood tests on day21 but i'm just thinking that the results of those won't be accurate as surely day 21 is based on a 28 day cycle? I'm thinking of going in for the bloods on day 16/17 this time.

    Can you not go both?
I have always wondered that. I have a very irregular cycle so I'd nearly need to get the Day 21 done every other day for two weeks. :)

It's funny how the date can move around isn't it? My cycle is always 31 days but the ovulation date can change. For me OPKs are the way to go.
Right now after the miscarriage I'm using them to try to get my cycle back on track.
I had my ERPC on July 9th and believe it or not think I then got my period in July 15th. I've been using the ClearBlue advanced digital monitor and its asked me to start testing yesterday and for the next few days. Today it told me that my fertility was high.
I'm not sure if I believe it. I might let this cycle see itself out and then have a clearer idea of what my dates are from next month.

Glad to hear you're doing well Penny. You probably will have a better idea of your cycle next month but if you want to start straight away and feel you are up to it I'd just give it a go this month anyway. :D Can't hurt.

My cycle is on average 23 days and my progesterone peak was at cd18.

It's an almost impossible task trying to predict in advance which day you should go in for progesterone bloods when you can't tell in advance how long your cycle will be so therefore how are you supposed to know when your progesterone peak day will be? You basically need to be able to predict the future! How long were your other clomid cycles?
Btw just curious but is ''clomid'' the hcg trigger shot or is it something else?

Will opks work when you're on clomid? What about temping or any other method?

Thanks, yes we lost the baby and it sucks but you just have to pick yourself up and get on with things again.
I hope your little girl is flying it. She will be a year old soon won't she?
Isn't it funny how we're both back around these parts again at the same time :-) fingers crossed we all migrate to the "Due XX" side of boards again soon.
