You know age gaps really don't matter a damn. In my family there are all kinds of gaps and we still get on really well.
My older sister is 15 years older than the youngest in the family (I am 7 years younger and 8 years older respectively) and the 3 of us get on so well you'd hardly believe it.
The two older sisters have only one year between them (6 between me and the second, 14 between the second and youngest) and their relationship isn't a patch on the one we have despite all of the gaps.
My brother (second youngest in the family) swims in a super contented way among all of us but probably gets on best with the second oldest ( 9 years between them).

Ah I know you are right, I just had this idea in my head that I would have a baby (or be pregnant) within 6 months of trying, to be honest when we started we said we would love 2 more children, so I kind of had in my head we would get pregnant and start trying again pretty soon. I never envisioned that a year and a half on we would be here. But sure this is the hand we have been dealt. And I do believe everything is happening for a reason.

I am sure my daughter will love her new sibling regardless of age. She has always said she loves being an only child. Recently she asked why we don't have any other children, I just simply said we have asked Holy God and he is busy trying to pick out the best brother or sister for you ;)

    Thats really lovely.
I'm on fire with regards to my imagination too. Sure didn't I confess earlier in this thread that I had pictured me telling my (imaginary) oldest daughter (complete with curly blonde hair like I had:o) that we were going to have a brilliant baby brother or sister for her:eek:
There certainly are no issues with regard to the fertility of my imagination. :pac:

I'd love to have 5 kids (same as I grew up with) but time has certainly conspired against me on that front (as too does the fact that it costs money to feed and dress that many kids - reality sucks) and still have to manage to get pregnant with the first one of whoever knows how many.

I send tons of baby dust to everyone today. Its so windy that some of it is bound to stick to someone somewhere. :)

Well I'm out this month! I know we haven't been trying very long but this is the first month I was really convinced I was pregnant so I was quite upset last night but feeling more positive today. Trying to look on the positives - gives me another month to lose more weight, will have another month of getting to know my cycle, and another month to save so it could be worse. I just bought some cheapie OPKs and pregnancy tests (amount I spent on branded ones this month is ridiculous), then off to do my shopping and will make sure there's some nice treats and a nice bottle of wine for tonight. Best of luck to everyone else still on the two week wait this month

That was me exactly a few weeks ago. To add insult to injury my period was even a few days late.
I had a little cry, went for a walk with hubby, bought new face mask and had long indulgent shower and pamper session. Sought the positives (pha) in the negative - more time to work on my abs and general fitness, etc etc.
    Will all be good.

    Hi all

This TTC is heartbreaking. It's such a let down every month when your period arrives.
I got a cream called 'natural progesterone' and it seem to have sorted out my cycle. I had real short cycles after I lost the baby. But the last month it seem to be back to normal, which for me was fantastic :)

I also tried the temping method last month, so at least I know I am ovulating, which is of course a great relief.
You can't help to get stressed about it all.

I'm just trying to keep busy doing some horse-riding and being out an about with my dogs.

I hope this month will be our month for all of us in the thread.

im in more or less the same situation. i just expected it to happen straight away. my doc did say it could take a year to regulate my cycle after ten years on birth control. i do have periods but dont think i ovulate as all predictor tests are negative. Age is on my side . My sister is also pregnant I am so happy for her because she has waited 8 years thinking it would never happen and she now has a one yr old and one on the way-without ivf.

Anyone else feeling frustrated by the monthly disappointment??
Also, is it just me or when you're ttc does every woman you meet seem to become pregnant?

You can sing that.. I've had at least 4 good friends who are pregnant in the last few months. I've been off the pill since oct/nov. I bought the Ovulation kit off ebay the dip stick one and a load of early pregnancy tests (patience is not one of my virtues). I try not to get disspointed when I get the negatives but its hard. I have only really been trying hard the last 2 months but I just don't get that if you have intercourse everyday around the time you are ovulating why it doesn't happen. Silly me thought it was that cut and dry! I know if I was trying to avoid it i'd get caught!! This is a great thread by the way...[/QUOTE]

That's how mine were until the day before I ovulated & then I would get the second line.
Mine never got gradually darker the second line was either there or it wasn't.

Are you never getting a second line at all throughout your whole cycle??

Nope. Only ever the first line. My cycles are very short though for example Aunt Flo arrived today so d last cycle was 16 days long & only had 1 line on d opk on everyone of those 16 days

I don't want to freak you out, so remember this is not the only reason for short cycles. sometimes, occasionally, they can be a sign of early menopause. it was for one of my best buds. An AMH bloodtest will tell you if you have low reserves. Don't wait. Time is not our friend with fertility.

Thanks a mil for d info about d AMH test purple! I will make an appointment with the doc. Can I ask what age your friend with early menopause was? I'm 32

Can I ask you about this I Love Toast? Was it prescribed by a doctor? Do you apply it internally? (sorry to ask for TMI ! :-))

I bought it online myself, They don't seem to sell it over the counter here.
haha you're fine, no you put the cream on like you with with any moisturizer, I put it behind my ears and arms usually.
It might not have been the reason why my cycle improved, but I think it was:)

Ah I see, some people never get a second line as their LH surge (hormone surge before ovulation) is so short they completely miss it.
All the same it might be something to mention to your GP along with you short cycles.

So sorry to hear that, i cant imagine how devastating that must be. hopefully things will work out for you and I'm sure your wee angel is watching over you.
    Good Luck

Sometimes an LH surge can onl last eight hours, so if you are only testing once a day you could miss it, maybe try once every twelve hours, say at 8 am and 8 pm or when you notice a change in your cervical mucus test more frequently.

On a side note, one of the girls here (sorry I can't recall who), but they recommended vitamin B (with folic acid) for PMS, anyone who is used to me on here will know I have 2 things, horrendously bad periods and desperate PMS (I become an emotional wreck then the bitch from hell), and get extreme fatigue.

Anyway, on their recommendation I switched from plain folic acid to vitamin B (with folic acid) I can honestly say I have noticed a HUGE difference. I am so much calmer, in much better form and seem to have a lot more energy.

So a big thank you xxx

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

I must change to that so,im just out of folic acid!anything that makes me a bit more normal around that time can only be good, for everyone involved:P

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,513 ✭✭✭✭Lucyfur

Vitamin B complex is VITAL! People really don't realise how much it can improve you life. Low B levels can cause depression, moodiness, sleeplessness and a zillion other things! And it's water soluble so you can't overdose on it. You just excrete what you don't need!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bobskii

And does all vitamin b contain folic acid or are there certain ones?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,175 ✭✭✭angeldelight

Frolic acid is a B vitamin so any B Complex will have all the Bs and by default folic acid. Just make sure there's at least 400 micrograms of it as that's the recommended amount for conception/pregnancy.

oh im having the week from hell and needed a rant. im so fed up of seeing pregnant women i just want it to be me finally.
it doesnt help that there are a certain few in work who think its their right to ask when myself and the hubby are having kids or says when someone else announces they are expecting it will be you next i feel like hitting them or screaming at them that we seem to be reproductively challenged. i wish these people would feck off its disheartning seeing people who have no issue popping out kids have more and more and all i want is one.
i know we will get there at somestage well i bloody hope so im just having an especially bad day today it seems. knew i could come on here and rant feels a little better to get it off my chest and least im less likely to snap at my work collegues

This thread is always great and there are some times that its just what you need.
A co-worker has just told me that she is pregnant.
I'm really happy for her, she is a lovely lovely girl but it is so hard to express your happiness for someone who has what you really really want.
Smile on the outside while crying on the inside.

Anyhow according to Pink Pad the flowers are blooming so I'm gonna make sure myself and my husband have the best horizontal fun over the next 4 days!!

Well that's us out this month, but as it was our first month on treatment we're not too disappointed. We've been told 9 goes before it's a failure, so on we go.
Guys all of you feeling bad at the moment with pregnant women all about, it is hard but you will grow a thick skin, though fingers crossed you won't need to. :D
