oh im having the week from hell and needed a rant. im so fed up of seeing pregnant women i just want it to be me finally.
it doesnt help that there are a certain few in work who think its their right to ask when myself and the hubby are having kids or says when someone else announces they are expecting it will be you next i feel like hitting them or screaming at them that we seem to be reproductively challenged. i wish these people would feck off its disheartning seeing people who have no issue popping out kids have more and more and all i want is one.
i know we will get there at somestage well i bloody hope so im just having an especially bad day today it seems. knew i could come on here and rant feels a little better to get it off my chest and least im less likely to snap at my work collegues

Ah Carlyam, seems we are all having a bad few days of it xxx

It will pass, I was ranting the other day, wanted to throw the towel in, feeling much better now TG!!!

And as for other people, well sometimes people just need to mind their own bloody business :confused::confused::confused::confused:

Well some good news for me, on CD8 yesterday I got ewcm !! :o
That is my first time getting it since coming off the pill so I was flippin delighted :-) I know it was definitely the real deal as well after reading descriptions on the forums and looking up photos on google (gross, but helpful!)

Still -ve on the opks but maybe I am just one of those people that doesn't get +ve on them. Anyway it was my first ever sign of ovulation so despite my short cycles, it gave me a huge boost !! Hope everyone else in here has some positive signs this month too :o

I think I'm 2 days over, and have sore boobs.... but am too freaked by the potential results to take a test yet. Scared of disappointment if it's a neg, and terrified of another MC if it's a positive. *Twiddles thumbs nervously* I'll give it another few days.

Ah I see, some people never get a second line as their LH surge (hormone surge before ovulation) is so short they completely miss it.
All the same it might be something to mention to your GP along with you short cycles.

I just got a second line on cheapie opk for the first time ever :-)

Was so happy I was jumping up and down, I think I'll treasure this opk forever (you'd swear it was a BFP I'm so excited!) but it's just so great to know that after 10 years on the pill and 6 months off it, the ovaries have finally woken up !! :D

Re acupuncture I've been going now for a few months to try and get me ovulating, I don't know if that's why I seem to finally have ovulated (or am about to - as stickey bean described the line isn't as dark as the other line yet, but it's almost as dark as it so I suppose I'm about a day off) but it can't do any harm. If it's not breaking the bank I'd keep going as it does seem to have proven results with fertility.

is it just me or does anyone else find it hard to understand why it takes 6-12 days for implantation to occur after the egg gets fertilised.......... i mean what the hell is it doingfor all that time.....

talk about taking your sweet time to make a relatively short journey!

I totally agree, about 2 months into TTC I read about this and was convinced it was wrong, funny I bet LOADS of people don't know this.

I agree. Actually after reading your post this morning I mentioned the 6 days to my husband and asked him why he thought it took so long.
His answer (and he is supposed to be clever!) was "I dunno, baby making stuff, its too early for a conversation like this".

Pha Ha I hope he is ready for weird a wonderful conversations with a little one (fingers crossed) at all kinds of strange hours!

    Hi all

Just a quick question for you. We have been trying now for almost 6 months, so I have decided to go to my gp to ask for help.
What will they do, is there anyone that could just tell me a little about what the process is?
I'm 36 now so I was told to go back to my gp after 6 months of trying.
I have been keeping track of my periods and my ovulation while we have been trying.

Any advice would be very much appreciated :)

Hi ILoveToast, as you are over 35 they will see you after 6 months (generally if you are under 35 they ask you to wait a year).

Firstly they will do your bloods, day 3 and day 21 (day 21 is just called this - it is actually 7 days after you ovulate, if you have a regular cycle day 21 is infact day 21, but may vary if you have different cycle). This test lets the doctor know if you are ovulating. The also do a blood test to check your basic health - I can't recall everything, but one was to ensure you had the rubella vaccine, one was cholesterol and I think there was a diabetes and a folic acid check.

Your other half will be asked to do a semen analysis.

You will also be refereed to a fertility specialist (it is worth doing your home work before going to your GP to decided where you want to attend, any worth checking there waiting list, some places are up to 10 months).

Oh and it is also worth having a healthy BMI, I was told I was a overweight so while I was waiting on my appointment (we had a 15 week wait) I was asked to loose a stone and a half and also increase my general fitness (I would be quite active already, but I was asked to keep it up).

My other half was also told it would be beneficial if he lost some weight.

Neither of us smoke or our bug drinkers, but we were asked about this aswell

    Thank you for that!

I heard about the bloods alright, I know my cycle was a bit all over the place recently. But it looks like it's back to normal now(fingers crossed). So hopefully it'll be easier when it comes to doing the bloods.
I know I have had the rubella vaccination.

I will look into who would be the best specialist to go to.
Would anyone be able to recommend a specialist to me around the Dublin area by any chance? I don't particularly want to wait for another 10 months before I get an appointment.

We have been attending the merrion clinic (it's in Holles Street Hospital).

There is a 10-14 week list. So far I have found them quite good. I like that they work on appointments and are very quick to see you.

I know the girls on here have said that the HARI is quite good aswell.

Perhaps it depends on the referal letter, when we rang they said it was 8 weeks, but we were waiting longer

Both of our BMI is good, thankfully! I still have a bit of weight to lose, but I'm within the normal range.
Neither of us drink or smoke either :)

So how are we all keeping girls? I'm CD 24 - not holding out any hope this month - we missed the dates :( so unless the swimmers can last 4 days I am out :P

  • Registered Users Posts: 78 ✭✭carlyam2

    hey all
im not doing too bad this week had a nice weekend tho my loving husband made brekkie for me on monday but fried the sausages and i havent had fried anything in ages so as soon as id eaten them i had bogey stomach had been talking to a friend and said i wasnt feeling great must be a stomach bug and i get or is it something else... now normally i hate it cause i want it to be us sooo badly but i have decided its not doing us any favours dwelling on it.
were both following the slimming world plan (well i am and im making him do it) and ive made a dent in my excess weight well its only 3lbs but its better than putting it on so im going to concentrate on that so when we finally have our apt in the rotunda were halfway there by being a healthy weight.
    good luck to everyone.
and sticky bean ya never know they might last 4 days google says they do. well it says 3-4days it could be wrong tho or i could the things ive learnt about myself and body when we started this journey it would have been nice to know some of it before instead of looking like a gob****e when told

I think my hubby's swimmers lasted for for days! My due date got changed to be a week later than I thought, once i had a scan. they told me I must have ovulated later than I thought. However we only did the deed when I did think I was ovulating so i was unsure how that was possible. i told the midwife this and she told me the sperm can hang around for up to 5 days and that must be what happened. So you never know. Fingers crossed for you x

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,582 ✭✭✭stickybean

Oh I am a bit excited now, I was thinking 3 days at a push, well sure we will wait and see :D Googled it there and says up to 5 days - thats madness!!!!

Good on you carlyam2 - 3lb is brilliant :) you are well on your way. Did you get a date for the rotunda?

i have all crossed for you stickybean..
google is great source of info whether its right now is another thing.
yes we have a date for may 2014 my gp fecked up and said we wanted to go public when we wanted to go private but as it turned out we said we would go public and use the money we would have spent getting there earlier to save for the treatment were going to need instead at least that way we can have all sorted and start as soon as possible.
