    High street?
Due to the topography of the town, there is only one street and a few lanes.
The one street is called the main street.
    High street. LMAO.

Whoops but in my defense I was fairly drunk last night sooo

Eh? Cobh can be very dodgy all right but Youghal is nowhere as bad and the two towns certainly don't get together for punch-ups.
Do they not? But those town v town fights tend to be between neighbours. E.g. out my way, Ballincollig v Blarney seems to be a regular "treat".
I lived with a girl from Youghal - the stories!!! And my brother's buddy lived there for a while, but after his car was broken into for the ELEVENTH time, he decided to move on...

I have been in a few

One was the most pointless thing ever!
    When I was young,
Me and a friend got into a fight with each other for..... wait for it.......
A Chirstmas songs CD from Christ Church lol
I was punching him around but stopped because I felt bad for him

We both laughed our heads off when we found out what the CD actually was

I've been in a fair few fights. Burst a few faces, broken a few teeth, but I paid for them (+7k). Ennis is a rough town. But galway is where most of my fights have been...

I'm prob not as up on the law as you Dragan, but I work in a job where we occasionally may have to deal with physical threat (not a doorman, thank God!). We get annual training on self-defence and dealing with the threat or actual assault, this year it was Krav Maga techniques.
Eh? A few threads back you were saying you worked in a civil service job, and your private sector contemporaries were earning tens of thousands of euros more than you. Either things get violent more often than you would think down the county council meetings, or the walter mitty crowd rides again... unless maybe you work in the psychiatric healthcare side of things, and even then I don't know if mental patients warrant the finest that Israel's military training can dish out.

On topic, I've been hit with bottles, stones, knives, a small mob, and actually fired upon (!) a couple of times, although I think that was more in the spirit of things than out of any particular desire to cause harm.

I'm pretty surprised at some of the reports of violence in the countreh towns of Ireland here though, Dev is turning in his grave and the comely maidens are sporting shiners. What is it with country folk and fighting, didn't their parents raise them properly or what?

Well when you step outside your village/suburb/mother's basement for the first time, at some point in the future, you can consider yourself forewarned.

No, I work in the public service, and part of the job is fisheries protection - dealing with poachers is an occasional hazard, more frequent now with the arrival of thousands more "fishermen" from eastern Europe. Some poachers are known to be extremely violent when apprehended - fishery officers have had limbs broken, etc in the course of their work...

Ho ho, I've never heard that one before. You must have graduated from originality university with a degree in originality, before climbing to the rank of professor of originality, and are now working in the UN department of originality, looking after the global originality situation.

As I said its a part of the job, as is water quality monitoring, dealing with planning issues, funding applications, development work, angling management, IT and website management, staff management, financial control, I could go on... not exactly the same as a gamekeeper now

Unfortunately Degsy, we have to catch them in the act, and they're very cute about how they go about things. Guess we're lucky here, its not as bad as around Dublin or the Shannon/Erne lakes, but we still have problems. Then when you do catch them the judge will probably fine them 100 euro, a pittance, then they won't pay the fine anyway and you can't track them down cos they've moved house, language difficulties, etc. Guards aren't much help either...
