What did you guys tell other people? Like is there a good cover story to deflect from what's actually been done but is also correct for the time off you need :P

Well, I went off the radar completely for 2 weeks - my family back in Ireland knew, as did my wife (obviously). My work was grand, here in Spain when you are signed off sick, they give you a note that says "general sickness". By the time I went back to work, the limp had gone, so if anyone asked, i just said General sickness :)

The thing is, most people will figure it out.....and most people won't care. I've found with this that there are certain things in life that we as humans all know each other have to go through, and know each other go through. In all honesty, this is only a big deal to the person going through it...most others have too much else going on to give your lad too much thought.

Well, it's done now. Day One after surgery. A few quick questions for anyone who knows.

I'm currently wearing a bathroom and no underwear, trying to give it "as much air" as possible, which was suggested by a previous poster. Is this the best idea, or should I wear some underwear?

I don't have a bath in my house. The nurse suggested the pressure of a shower may be too much, and that washing it with a basin may be good. Is this correct? Any other options?

How long, approximately (and I know this is all relative) before the sensitivity of the tip goes down? Right now it's extremely sensitive, as you would expect. Will it go down by itself, or should I be touching it against things e.g. tracksuit bottoms etc.?

Thanks for all the support on here, guys. Doubt I'd have gone through with it if I didn't know so many other people were also in the same boat.

Let it hang out - wild and free...at least as much as possible, it's comfortable and helps the healing along the way

She's right about the pressure shower - a plastic cup should do the job well. Tepid ->warm water with a bit of salt in it will do the job. I personally washed it with gauze and a bottle of saline - my wife is a doctor and she said it was the best way to ensure proper cleanliness.

Give it a couple of days. It'll start to get more used to things (personally, even the bathrobe brushing against it was tough for 1 or 2 days) or at least until the bandage is off to let it hang out. Once the bandage is off, healing is already well underway and you should start wearing very snug underwear (the type TBH posted about a couple of pages ago) to a)keep it supported and b)get it used to being next to things. Once you're used to underwear, loose shorts or trousers will be fine and you can get out the house

To be honest, this is all subjective as we all heal slightly differently - I've read of somepeople back to normal in 2 days. I had an infection and in all honesty it was 5 or 6 days before I felt like facing the outside world. At least in the apartment I could be naked with no one but my cat judging me.

While you can, give it air, I'd say

Plastic cups: salt, warm water, dangle him in :)

Should be over the worst of it by Sunday I'd say - every day will be a little better.

    edit: great minds!

Great, thanks guys. What about washing the rest of my body? Would I get away with wearing swimming trunks in the shower, or would it still be too sensitive down there for that, even?

4 weeks today, still abit sencertive but I find if I wear pants instead of boxer shorts it's alot more comfy
My infection has gone but still scabbed up a bit (hard to heal as its rubbing against my underwear)
Happy I got it done still (still haven't had full on sex) probably could but I'll leave it a week or two

Take baths for the time being. If you can handle the cup of warm water you'll be able to submerge it in a bath of lukewarm water as well. I know drawing a bath everyday can be a pain but it's worth it in the short term and it'll help with the hypersensitivity as well.

He said a few posts ago that they don't have a bath in the house. Only showers.

I'm facing the same dilemma, Smashius_Clay. Op next Monday and no bath in our house. Got some salt and the red plastic cups for washing the lad. As for the rest of me, I suppose just washing myself at the sink will be all I can do. Be slow and not as good as a proper shower or bath, but needs must.

It's been just over a week now. I've been letting it hang out via bathrobe the majority of the time. Starting wearing tracksuit bottoms with boxers and some gauze on.

One thing I'd appreciate some help with from anybody here who has had a similar experience... I had some pain near where the blood has dried and is scabby. I thought it may have been that the scabs were stretching, so I put some moisturiser on. I did seem to help a bit. However, is this a bad idea? It wasn't Savlon or anything!

I don't think I will put moisturiser on with gauze again, as it stuck to the tip this morning and I had to peel it off. Not exactly agony but not comfortable either!

Any tips from fellow travellers would be helpful!

I applaud you guys for getting this done especially as older men. Since i am guessing it would be different if it was done as a child. Plus my fianceé had talked to me & gave me the run down or at least an understanding of thing of the guys plumming down south. But my question to you men is about the concerns & health problem that would occur before the you get the procedure.. My man & i have been together 11yrs havent had problems in the bedroom but not until recently about a 4 yrs a go he got a physical & the doctor told him he seemed to have a lot of forskin is that possible & then there was the problem of he couldn't get the the head to come out. He was telling me it seem like it was tight. As time passed I've come to notice that he wasn't standing to hiis full attention. I know that there could be many reason i won't be at full attention stress, smoking, etc & we looked at many possibilities. & So what im trying to get at is could the tightness of the foreskin cause problems in getting a full erection? I know it seems strange especially if a women ask but, im really concerned & i was reading into this subject. If any one can help. I'd greatly appreciate the honesty. I know it can be embarrassing. Thx guys again for the info.. :-* *mwah

    Hello all,

I've tried reading the thread to get some of my questions answered but it's a herculan taste. I'm going to outline my history and ask a few questions.

I was premature and had an undescended testicle, the experience of dealing with this what with doctors etc feeling the area to see whats up as a child has kind of impacted my adult mind. In sexual situations if someone goes near my balls i go soft if i'm hard or the tense and uneasyness i feel doesn't allow me to get hard. It's to the situation where i hate touching my own balls, if anyone else does i go from tense to feeling like im going to faint. If someone talks about it or i see it on screen i feel like nearly passing out.

Combine with the above is tight foreskin, if i'm hard i can only pull my skin back 1/5th of head. When i am soft i can pull it down to the base of the head no problem.

During sex I go soft due to the above, I went to a doctor who perscribed 50mg viagra, it half did the trick, i couldnt climax but was harder than i ever was since my teen years. I was referred to beaumount and a doctor and his team checked me out and recommended circumcision originally and then on a follow up consultatation said i should try counselling. They checked my foreskin retraction but while soft it's fine but hard is the issue.

I feel i guess emotionally paralysed about it, It's difficult to deal with even though it shouldnt be!

I've tried stretching for a few months but honestly no impact at all.

I know i need therapy but that will sort a mental problem not the physical problem.

Does anyone know of private places that do circumcision they can recommend? Price? beamount seemed to be pretty adamant about lopping off everything, i'd love just retractable foreskin if even a little bit.

I've read about creams, are they prescribed by doctor or over the counter?

This post is scatter brained, i've tried to write it twice before and gave up so i apologise

    Any advice or comments?

    Thanks :)

    28 year old dubliner

Thanks, we appreciate the kisses :)

Can just answer for me, but I never had problems getting or keeping erections, or having sex with a condom. The main problem was, what should have felt like pulling your hand through the end of a sleeve instead felt like trying to get it through a handcuff - just no elasticity at all. Meant I'd tear it, was very difficult to clean under it, etc etc.

    Hey

Had the op on Monday. No real issues so far, bar getting up during the night every two hours to go for a p*ss to prevent erections.

Question though, when is it advisable to drive, or will driving be uncomfortable for the first week? Mother asked if I'd drive her to town tomorrow. Said she could probably get someone else to do it if I wasn't up for it. Hard to know if I'd be up for it until I went though, so if there's a chance it'll be uncomfortable, I'd rather say no now.

So... after a year wait, I had my consultation today. Doctor advised me to have a circumcision so looks like it will be happening in the autumn. Do not know what to think really. I have been moping about the house all day feeling sorry for myself. Don't know what to tell the folks really. :(

@Penn - i didn't feel up to driving for about a week - but that is in the centre of Madrid, i don't like it at the best of times, but feeling a bit sensitive I thought it best not to drive

@heartofwhite - don't worry too much about it, read through the rest of the thread and you'll get a bit of comfort from it.
I'd just tell your folks out-right, they are probably already aware that you have a penis :). The thing is, they'll be needed when the time comes, spin back from the hospital, cook etc for a few days afterwards, trust me - they will not ask to see it.

Is it not aviseable to drive after the op? I was going to head back home myself tbh.

Not a hope... I was all over the place when I left as in looked pale and still quite light headed, even fell asleep in the car and I never do that especially with herself driving

Roughly when should the stitches start coming out, and what do I do about it? How do I know etc?

This Tuesday it will be three weeks since I had the surgery, and my stitches still haven't come out. I rang the surgeon's secretary yesterday, and told her. She said, give it another week (i.e. Friday 3rd August, or 3 1/2 weeks since the surgery) and if they haven't dissolved by then, give her a call and she'll arrange an appointment. She also suggested - though I had been doing this anyway - dipping them in warm, salty water for several minutes at a time every day.

Yeah, been doing the dipping about twice a day. So does it still hurt you when you get erections?

I definitely noticed them in the mornings shortly after the surgery. At this stage - almost three weeks later - if I am getting them in the mornings, they aren't waking me up, so it isn't really still hurting.

Just counting down to that six week mark...

Is it possible to get the op on a medical card?

If a doctor says you need it. You may face a long wait tho.

    Hi,

I have recently had a circumcision, on advice from my doctor. The reason is that I was not able to retract my foreskin over the helmet of my penis. Though I could achieve an orgasm from manual masturbation, I was never able to do so from penetrative sex.

It will be another three weeks before I have my check-up with my surgeon. If he gives me the all clear, I'll be able to start having sex again. I'm both excited and a bit terrified. I'm worried that sex, which was never that enjoyable before, will now be an agonising ordeal.

I know adult circumcision is a lot more common than people think. Are there people on here who have had sex after circumcision? Have you noticed an improvement in the sex? Do you enjoy it more?

Any feedback appreciated, though if you have some terrifying stories, please think before you post them...
