Well the swelling has gone down a good bit, still bruising there. Erections are a nightmare, can feel the stitches being strained. But its good to see the improvement!

congrats on getting your surgery done, i think im in the same boat as you would need to get the full circumcision as there is no give there at all in the foreskin, don't think i would be able to get used to the sensitivity of the exposed head unless i was forced to which would also be a worry of mine with a partical circ.

anyway was wondering how long it took for you between your first visit to GP to get the operation done? i have vhi so would be going the private route

Well its been over a week since I had the op. I think i'm progressing pretty well, all the swelling and bruising has gone, just some scabs along the incision line and behind the head but everything feels a lot more comfortable.
I actually had a bit of a scare yesterday walking around the kitchen I got this feeling of blood trickling down my leg.....felt like I was gushing blood, thought the stitches had burst! But checked it out and there wasn't nearly as much blood as i was expecting, just one of the scabs knocked off the boxers and fell off, cleaned it up and put a bit of gauze bandage around it...all hunky dory now.

Hi... my first time posting something so private! Scary...

Erm... How necessary is circumcision? I can't retract my foreskin at all, but masturbation isn't a problem at all. It's quite common knowledge I'm a virgin :pac: so how much difference is there in terms of the force on the foreskin; in masturbation I don't have to be gentle, is circumcision an absolute neccessity?

Tbh, going to the doctor would be the worst part for me, then having to explain the reason why I'm walking so slowly everywhere to mom and dad - we're quite a prudish family :p

    This thread's made me woozy...

Read the forum charter. You shouldn't be asking for medical advice here or from random people on the internet anyway. Go see a doctor. (My personal opinion is that you should avoid circumcision unless absolutely completely necessary. There are alternative treatments depending on your condition. But that's just the opinion of a random guy on the internet with no medical training. Go see a doctor.)

Mods: Please delete this post if it somehow violates forum rules etc

he's a little harsh on you tom, but the message is sound - no-one can tell you if you need a circ or just some cream or something but your doctor.

Your foreskin should be able to retract, painlessly, completely from the head of your penis. If it can't, then see your doc. Take it from me, it's more embarrassing in your head than it is in reality.

Sorry. I didn't mean to come across as harsh or aggressive. I just talk/type that way. If it's interpreted as being offensive or antagonistic that's not my intention. I'm very friendly in real life. I swear. :)

    Hello all.

I've recently discovered that this is an issue and I have to admit I'm scared ****less. I realise after doing a bit of research that this may sound ridiculous, but I genuinely had NO clue that this was an issue. It's not something my mates ever talked about (obviously I suppose) and I only learned about the tight foreskin condition through google and online forums. I honestly thought that the guys in pornos were just circumcised with their rolling foreskin up and down like a sock on a brush handle and I didn't know mine should be doing the same thing.

It's obviously a bit of a self esteem hit as well as being scary, but the fear is the worst. The sex I've had has been protected but now I'm terrified that if I have unprotected sex I'll rip my banjo string and bleed like fcuk, looking like a massive freak in the process. I honestly don't know what to do and the thought of getting my foreskin off makes me want to puke in terror. I'm 23, so I feel like this is some **** that should have been sorted years ago. I'm a grown man, and this is the most embarrassing problem I've had.

I understand that medical advice can't be given, but anything from personal experience would be massively appreciated. I don't like asking for help, but this time I really need it.

    Hi all

I've just caught up with the thread. Incredibly, it is coming up to 11 months since I had the operation!! I really cannot believe how time has flown by.

I never, ever think about it these days.

For anyone lurking on the thread, worried that they might need their penis looked at, my recommendation is to go for it. The sooner you start the process, the sooner you'll be healed and back in the saddle.

(If it's not TMI, it feels soooooooooooo much better!)

Sorry lads for the delay in approving your posts. Miller - you're afraid of the unknown -it's totally normal. Going to the doctor will help you no end, I promise. Have a read back over the thread, practically everyone who had it done was crapping it, and practically everyone who had it done would say now that it wasn't nearly as bad as they thought it was going to be.

Newuser, speaking personally, I only have tiny scars where the stitches were, nothing that can be seen with the naked eye really.

i think ill be going for this through VHI, havent been to the GP yet but hoping to go in the next week. How long do you reckon it will take from the GP - specialist - Operation if I go the private route?

Private here as well, and for me it was 1 week from Doc to Consultant, and the consultant gave me a choice of the following day for local, or the following week for general. I picked general (I really, really, really, didn't want to be awake)

Going to GP tomorrow after finally building up the courage to speak to my parents about this, I'm a young male and only recently realised that I may need a circumcision. I'm still very nervous and am not looking forward to any of this but hopefully it can be dealt with asap and life can go on.
I'll keep you posted as time goes by.

Do. You'll be grand, today is the toughest bit and only because of the whole awkwardness thing. You'll feel much better afterwards

Thanks tbh. I met with the GP today anyway and to my suprise he told me that everything looked completely normal and that he felt there was no need for a circumcision. I'm still unsure however so my GP has told me that he will organise an appointment for me with a 'specialist in circumcision' in the next week. I feel I do have a problem as my foreskin won't retract when I am erect and I am blaming this for the lack of sensation which I am experiencing during intercourse.

I am also suffering from phimosis but trust me, surgery is not the only option. I started stretching exercises on my foreskin on Wednesday.
Wednesday: I started pulling the foreskin back as far as it could go every chance I got. I got the foreskin halfway down the penis head when flaccid.
Thursday: I read online that the heat and moisture in the bath can help things so I decided to give it a try. I then pulled the foreskin over the flaccid penis head. It was uncomfortable but I was just relieved that the exercises were working.
Friday to Sunday: I continued work on stretching the foreskin and, luckily, by Sunday night, I was able to pull the foreskin over the flaccid penis head without any pain or discomfort.
Monday and Tuesday: On Monday, I started to try and pull the foreskin back over my erect penis. It was very tight, but by Tuesday night, I could get the foreskin halfway down the penis.

I hope my experience helps. I'll keep you up to date on how the stretching exercises are going. Remember, surgery isn't the only option. :D

Actually just read through all 49 pages of this thread, many thanks to everyone who posted for all the great advice and info. I'm 20 years old from North West England, and stumbled upon this thread last night while looking for help with my problem - turns out it was exactly what I needed.

Anyway, I have only in recent years come to realise that I have phimosis and it is a bit of a problem (although, I've been relieved to learn here, not a particularly uncommon one). I just recently broke up with my girlfriend after being together for a year. She never commented on it or even appeared to notice, but I often found sex to be very difficult and painful. I can just about retract the foreskin while flaccid with considerable difficulty, but not at all while erect. This has always meant that I have trouble keeping it all clean, and have recently been experiencing some rather worrying intermittent pain at the base of the glans - so that makes two things to mention to my GP when I finally work up the courage to go over there. I'm quite keen on the idea of circumcision to completely solve the issue once and for all, though I wonder how long I'd have to wait for it on the NHS...anyway, I'll find out soon I suppose.

Thanks again, I'll come back with updates soon.

Anyone have a problem with the scar?

I got cut 18months ago, about a month after the procedure there was still a lot of scarring, more specifically its a kind of lumpy scarring left from the stitches. At the follow up appointment with my urologist he said that the scarring would disappear over time. 18months on and I still have this and it doesnt look like its going away.

    Anyone had a similar issue?

All day yesterday, I had the 28th of August in my head as a significant anniversary but I couldn't remember whose anniversary or birthday it was.

I just looked at boards and remembered that yesterday was the first anniversary of my operation.

    A whole year. That's incredible.

Going to see the GP and saying "Umm, I think I have a problem..." was the bravest and best decision I've ever made. For anyone who thinks they have a problem and isn't sure what to do, just go for it!

This thread has been just incredible.

You'll be right, the fear of what it's going to be line is far far worse than what it's actually like. Unfortunately, you won't believe me till you find out for yourself, but you'll see we're right.
