Just in case anyone doesn't know, if you don't know what exchange you're connected to, go to www.smarttelecom.ie and enter your number into the BB line checker and the result will tell you the exchange.:)
@god's toy
Give the Eircom boy's a chance to boil the kettle and have a cuppa. They're probably on overtime for this:D.

I would of thought changing the speeds on a DSLAM would be a five minute job per exchange...I might head out to my local exchange and camp out and demand my speed increases!

Also, do you get the feeling there is more that could be done with our lives..?

Maybe its just me...

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,241 ✭✭✭god's toy

Yep dude I know,(was just a joke after all) I'm more looking forward to the uploads speed than download. (for Xbox live and stuff)

Ok whats the story with this. From 1 to 2mb and 2 to 3mb? And it also says their smallest package prior to this was 1mb

I'm a little puzzled as I'm still on 512k...have been for months.

here we go,

FIRST to Go

EXCHANGE: Bray
ISP: Esat BT
PACKAGE: Broadband Plus

PING: see attachment
SPEEDTEST: see attachment

have to admit uploading the attachments was a breeze. (in terms of upload time.)

i don't know whether or not to be happy with the download speed, but tbh i'm more happy about the upload speed.

*EDIT*

just checked my router setup and the connection is still interleaved.

*EDIT2*

just added in my download speed for that linux iso that was going round in the broadband speed thread a couple of days ago.

Exchange: Clontarf
ISP: Netsource
Package: Origin Plus (now 3072/384)
Ping to www.jolt.co.uk: went from average 30ms beforehand to 22ms after
Speedtest: irishisptest gives me 2.47Mbps/320kbps. A download from heanet.ie levels off at about 315-320KB/s

And no reboot needed. I was testing it for a while to see if it had changed by bouncing the router. Then went off to fix a wireless connection and when I came back it was upgraded.

the reason you aren't getting pings like us guys is (and this is just speculation) but you could be further from the exchange.

ping = time / not download.

so the further away from the exchange the larger your pings will be.

sorry but that figure means nothing unless you tell us the server, how many people playing, is that the steam server menu ping or in game?

all these are factors.

your ping will be lower on the server if there are no other clients as you obiviously don't have to send information to the clients and the server.

601**** as in exchange 624**** is the old one
