    Here a link for entries.

Might give it a go again this year, hope I don't get caught out in the snow like last year!

Last year was its first installment and from what i seen running it, i wouldn't fault it in anyway, its run by a running club so they know what a race is about. Its a fast two lap course that is good for PB hunters. And at €20 for a half marathon its value for money when you compare it to other races charging alot more for a half assed race.

I ran the 5K organised by Bohermeen AC and i couldn't have been more impressed.

    Looking forward to this.

Ran it this year, and will be back next year. Has a great club race feel about it with sandwiches and cake after.... oh, and it's flat and fast too. I ran a decent PB.

Like the rest above, recommend this race and anything done by Bohermeen AC. Its a PB course alright (i got mine there) but the drag at the end of the lap makes the last 2 miles tough. Last year it went from sunshine at the start to hailstone at the finish.

The value for €20 for a half marathon is great considering what was in the goodie bag and the spread afterwards.

Deffo doing this again this year, great race last year and great value

See if my ultra training [couple of weeks after Donade and 4 or 5 weeks before Conn] can contribute to my knocking a couple of mins off my PB :)

Definitely one for the calendar! I found it tough enough last year, a few drags here and there. Very good value though. :)

    Nice!!

Or more particularly relatively flat, a long straight drag at the end but not as long as the half runners have to endure twice.

Ran it last year and enjoyed it.

Will there be any pacers for the HM?

In for this. I'm wondering about the 2 laps. Would it "feel" harder or easier mentally?

To help you this year we will be providing race pacers on the day for 1hr 30min, 1 hour 45 min, 2 hrs and 2 hr 15 min target times.

I think it depends on how you are feeling on the day. It will help some people to know exactly what to expect in the second half but others will not be looking forward to seeing the hill they conquered on the first lap again in the last couple of miles.

I personally think laps would be harder than just doing the one loop.

Is there a race pack for this does anyone know? T-shirt or medal?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,546 ✭✭✭chinguetti

Oh that second lap is tough going as you know who have 2 miles uphill when you go over the motorway, a short sharp hill and then a long drag. Put the head down and drive up it is all I can say and have a person 20 yards in front of you to hunt down helps a good deal.

T-shirt and a fine goody bag and a fine spread of food afterwards.

You told me it was a PB course

Despite the hill and the drag, its still a PB course in my mind. From the top of the drag to the motorway is roughly 5 miles so you've about 9-10 miles of downhill or fast roads. I knocked 3 minutes off my time and broke sub 90 so if anyone is looking for a PB, i'ld recommend the course.

Just don't get left in a position of running on your own as it becomes a tough slog up the drag due to it been a long straight stretch of road.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,759 ✭✭✭belcarra

Anyone going for sub 90 this time round?
Seems like a good target for me to aim for and I believe there are pacers for the job too...
Chinguetti - Are you looking to run it again around that time this year??

I'll probably run it as a PMP run alright.

So what is it - first half lap easy, second half lap hard? Or the other way around?
