Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. The 'Opel zafira' of ventilators ....

His "press" conferences are like Truman show .... product placement/name checking left, right and centre...

Wonder willl he open a few Trump Towers as field hospitals

Meanwhile, his support base are too thick to realise he is ****ting on them, while routing trillions of dollars back into Wall Street.

    Blueshoe wrote: »
Ford and GM have been forced by Trump under some American emergency act to make good on their promise and open up the factories to manufacture 40,000 ventilators as they had promised.

He especially slated the GM Ceo because she stated they could only produce 6000 and not until late April. This is not in line with the contract signed by GM and Ford with the US government.

Good man Trump. One thing you got right.

Does nobody have any common sense and have to ask stupid questions?
Supermarket is 3kms away does that mean I have to starve?
How are they going to police it?

Come on people, you know what they are trying to achieve and do your very very best to adhere as far as possible and help them out.
It's brutal for everyone but we just have to alow this thing down or we are in for longer than necessary.

There are 3 of us going into work tomorrow which is 5kms from me and the function of the meeting is to set up IT for the small few that hasn't worked from home and then a crisis meeting figure how we run this business as morally and safely as we can for however long it takes and keep the rest of the staff home too except in emergencies

There is a large number of Irish people who straight think about how to break a law and get away with it rather than trying to understand what it's about it and complying. Ever notice how many gob****es will be up your hole if you drive at 50 through a village but you'll lose straight away once you speed up to 80 outside the village?

714 new cases, 17 deaths so far yesterday in Florida.

Dynamite with the fuse lit waiting to explode given the demographic.

Yeap the retirement is powder keg waiting to go off. Worlds largest nursing home.

This was always going to happen. When the last restrictions were put in place it was said to be just one step in many. It wasn't enough for many but we seem to be on course to flatten the curve, although it is still early days obviously. The UK didn't have this advantage, once they realised they had made a mistake they had to make a 180, this led to confusion and some panic.

They were leaving room for more measures and rules when needed and once people were used to this new reality. Now we've increased the restrictions but left room for tougher measures in a few weeks if needed.

Some people seem to be,somewhat understandably in the circumstances, in constant outrage mode.

You're trying to make it seem like those in charge had everything under control! The facts are they have been behind on every decision they have made. They have been reacting to things happening instead of being proactive. We're high up the leaderboard of total deaths from this and it's not a leaderboard you want to be on.

We can only hope that this doesn't cost too many lives, that's all we'releft with now.

The authorities make the regulations but no mention of enforcement. Typically Irish. Relying on "good will of the Irish people" We're well past that point. No mention of how shopping will be regulated. Strongest chain is only as good as its weakest link.

Deliveries and collections only in shops.

Nope. I take my instructions from the government, not from you

Then stop moaning about it. Run if you want, don't if you don't want to. Go early morning or late at night.

Think people are been deliberately obtuse with the 2km thing. There are no measuring tapes. They’re literally asking us to just stay close to home.

And not pack out the Phoenix park, Glendalough, beaches, other parks etc.

It’s not so hard to understand.

Yeah the first person I spoke to after the announcement said, “well how will they enforce it”

I think most people will just do as they are asked!

Oh please, do not be so condescending, I know all that.

But in times of crisis, needs must and people really need to get back in their box for the time being.

They can do the 2k fine. That's it.
Wasn't being condescending intentionally, but see how you could read it that way.

Merely pointing out that people generally find it difficult to put aside an addiction.

I know, perhaps read the post I was replying to? The person I was replying to seemed to think the 2km limit applied to shopping as well. I was informing them that this wasn't the case.

It's like in school or college - there are always idiots and you think, well eventually i'll move away from them and wont' have to deal with their sh!t - and you even see what they write on FB etc. But the problem now is that their actions are leading to people dying so it's actually now everyone problems that on one kicked the **** into them when they were in school.

According to that post earlier on the nurse died, by picking up the virus while treating others with the disease - so she basically died doing her job.

And yet on here tonight we have people wondering how the government are going to police the new rules - and saying they are going to give the 2 fingers to the powers to be and do their own thing.

Great. Now instead of driving to a place that I can run or walk whilst not coming within tens, even hundreds, of metres of other humans, I have to walk or run on my busy local paths where joggers and walkers are cheek by jowl. That reduces spread how exactly?

So you want to drive to a place where you can run or walk? Why can’t you just stay at home for a few weeks. We all have to do it, none of us love it, but it’s necessary.

I'm not sure I fully agree, a lot of the measures that have been introduced would be impossible to enforce without buy in from the public.
I can speak for my own personal journey where I went from a few pints in a quiet pub is grand to I will gladly not go to the beach this weekend.
That is in the space of a fortnight. I think the vast majority of Irish people have accepted each phase as necessary and proportionate and therefore very good adherence as a result and more importantly over the coming weeks.

One thing that has become clear is the attitude of some of my colleagues. I'm working in the public sector in an "essential service". It's a very small close-knit team (so I thought). Yesterday we received notice of significant changes to our hours and work patterns. My attitude is fine, roll the sleeves up and get on with things, this is an emergency and I want to help. I feel that I'm lucky to have a job seeing all the unfortunate people laid off. Anyway, I contact some of my "team" to inform them of the changes and unfortunately from a few of them it's all "me, me, me". I'm shocked and disgusted. And before people trot out the typical "civil servant" line, two of these people have come from the private sector.

If they say stay at home except to do essential shopping or pharmacy visits and you can only go for a walk near where you live, it would be pure eejitry for people to think they can go on a 10 or 20 mile spin in the car to do the shopping. At that rate you could drive from Limerick to Galway to do your shopping and claim when stopped by Gardai : "Nobody told me not to".
