Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Yesterday at 10am the manual gauge had 1.3mm, this morning at 10am it was just 0.7mm. So a paltry total of 2mm from that front.

    another scorcher down here today. any cloud now gone and clear blue sky. grass everywhere now fully yellow. I reckon there have been about 2 non beach days down here since about 14 June

    Damn that's rough, in Sligo we have had mostly cloudy weather for the past week, the sun is powerful when it comes out but mostly it's been all cloud.

    Another warm, dry day in Cork. Can’t see any rain coming soon that could level our drought with the rest of the country. Wednesday totals look to be diminishing a bit each run

    I don't normally ask this, but what are the chances of staying dry in Leinster till tomorrow evening, starting new job tomorrow and it's outdoors,prisaption charts all giving a different outlook

    Curracloe beach evacuated, people asked not to go near it as the grass and scrub on the dunes is on fire,if it spreads to the forest beside it then there's gonna be a major problem.

    Edit, seems like some d1ckheads lit a barbecue in the dunes,then ran. Videos posted on Facebook showing the blaze headed to the car park and out of control as people try to get cars out of it's path.
    As usual, there's eejits asking if the beach is still open as they planned to head there for the afternoon.

    Anyone know where those satellite images of Ireland are, saw them in one of the threads a few days ago but can’t recall which one. They were of Ireland a month ago and then now how burned it looks. Tia

    In Sligo rained most days since Tuesday but 0 to 3mm about each day n then today roasting.

    Think proper rain is very close now though weeks of rain not on the horizon at all.

    Actual mist here in the drought affected area of west cork. Ground is still rock hard and it’s expected to burn off fast but hey. Driving to the city now so will see.

    Edit: Small bit up the road from the coast and it’s bone dry still.

    There was a bit of drizzle here this morning. The ground is damp. There was actually 0.4mm rain recorded overnight. The sun is currently shining although it's mostly cloudy. It was a very mild night. The low was 17.9C. It's currently 18.8C with RH of 88%.

    We got about half an hour of rain on Friday evening,99% of it evaporated within the next few minutes once it stopped falling.
    The only place I saw green grass since early June was in a normally boggy corner of a field,the farmer was baling it today. Even that field has dried out,the grass won't regrow for a while yet.

    was going to take junior camping for 2 night later in the week but Met have heavy rain for friday (wickow) so we are going to go tomorrow and thursday instead and finish up friday morning, is there anything big rolling in or just something that might end up just being a few summer showers?

    This weekend looks wet in many parts of Ireland but Im not altogether convinced the good weather is gone. Even today was a grand day in the Northwest. A very passable Summers Day of 19c which are my favorite ones.

    Early next week that massive Scandi High may attempt to link up with Azores High.

    Also some very warm air in North Leinster Thursday could result in 29c there while most other areas will see at least 22c

    Have you seen any hints how it will be in Leinster on Saturday ? We have a big event and some sunny moments would be lovely . Even dry bright would do !

    Leinster covers a pretty large area with very different weather often encountered at any one time. Can you be more specific, even a town name?

    My opinion is the drought is about to fully end in coming days.

    Going on model outputs the country will be crossed in its entirety by a sequence of weather fronts from Friday night onwards over a period of several days. Each system will bring more rainfall than the one preceding it as pressure drops. There will also be periods of much cooler air with westerly:northwesterly air-flows. Late next week warm air may push back, but no sign of a heat wave.

    I hope that your rainfall prediction is accurate. The country badly needs a lot of rainfall to make up for the long period of no rainfall whatsoever.

    A good period of unsettled weather would be welcome.

    I think the warm air might come back quicker than you think!

    Harmonie has some very heavy bursts of rain for Thursday night but not very widespread so it will be hit and miss. Saturday night into Sunday might offer some more hope for widespread relief.

    Soil moisture deficits are around 75mm in large parts of the country - you think this weekend will drop that much rain?

    We've experiencing a soil moisture deficit all Summer. It's the reason why everything is turning brown and why river levels are very low. It's only a threat to farmers because to need moist soil to grow crops.

    It’s not a warning, it’s an advisory and it affects us all as it means water supplies remain low.

    Along that note GFS going for a ridiculous amount of rain on Sunday, but Arpege showing about 12 hours less of it.
