Yes it was according to what Oneiric 3 is referring to, see the pics below as proof (for Dublin Airport):

You would imagine if each of those is rounded up, then the daily total will be less than 0.1mm

However rounding works both ways so it could equally be as high as 0.149mm

Or of course .01 might be (must be?) the smallest unit used to measure in which case they would have to be added and therefore giving 0.11mm

But then that may be rounded down to the nearest 0.1 for the daily report?

    Is absolute drought over? :pac:

This chart from the Swiss met office shows the rain probability for this coming Saturday:

    y8KKExL.png

Areas with the greatest chance of seeing some rain are W. Munster/Connacht and western parts of Ulster, with the chance in eastern and southern areas still looking poor, though can't be ruled out entirely. Either way, no great totals expected either on Saturday or the following few days. Best chance of some rainfall thereafter is towards the mid-week period next week, but still looking hairy for now.

Absolute drought of 22 days here over (June 20th last measured rainfall) with 1.0 mm rain measured this morning, quite a shock to see wet ground outside this morning. Obviously not nearly enough.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Any amount of rainfall is better than no rainfall at all.

It's been cloudy/overcast here in Dublin these past two days, but it has remained dry throughout here.

It might sound simplistic but the longer there is no rain, the more it is required to rain when it does so.

The situation for Dublin is probably a bit more complex - the city itself can be completely dry but we'd be okay if there was a bunch of rain over the mountains, where our water is stored. No official weather stations up there though unfortunately!

We got a fair bit of rain south of Killiney Hill last night...woke up to wet ground and deck furniture, so a few millimetres, I’d say. Close to the mountains, so guessing they got more, as is usually the way of it!

I have NEVER EVER seen an active Atlantic front give appreciable rain in the Dublin area during July. Any front will give rain in western areas but will break up and weaken quickly giving no more than a mm or two in eastern areas- seen it millions of times.
If I get more than 3 or 4mm in the coming week I'll be amazed. It takes a southerly jet with low pressure tracking very far south to give appreciable rain on the east coast at this time of year, like those terrible summers 2007-12.

Met Éireann's Farming discussion from this morning.
It has been dry across Leinster and much of Munster over the past week with just a trace of rainfall near the Cork coast. Over Ulster and Connacht there was just a trace also in most stations with 2.6 mm being the highest value recorded in Malin Head which is only 15% of normal. Somewhat of a change in the coming 7 days with more unsettled weather expected especially later in the week. Rainfall totals are expected average out above normal in the North and Northwest but generally less than half the average for the time of year in the South and Southeast. In all totals for the week are predicted to be around 20mm over much of Connacht, Ulster and West Munster and around 10 to 15 mm elsewhere.

Status Yellow - Weather Advisory for Ireland

    Update to drought advisory

There will be small rainfall amounts at times over the coming days. However, there will be no significant reduction in soil moisture deficits as evapotranspiration rates will remain high.

Met Éireann's Farming discussion from this morning.

FWIW, here on the Dingle Peninsula there was some rain overnight Tuesday/early a.m. Wednesday. Enough to leave puddles on the ground for a couple hours on Wednesday morning. A neighbor measures rain for Met Eireann in his yard, I'll ask him if he's got any data for the last week.

It has taken out the DART line.
Apparently, it started on as a campfire.

Currently working outside in bray, best to avoid as there's smoke and ash flying around the place and only getting worse

Next seven days rainfall on tonights ECMWF run, still little to nothing in the south east. Lots of rain at the end of the run but considering its constant downgraded every day I wouldn't pay any attention to that yet
