Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was meant to have mine this week but someone in my bubble went and caught coronavirus so no familiarisation for me! I've now got to go into it blind :/

    Was it that bad?

    Oh no that’s grim!!

It was okay. Great to see everything in person and have a go. People found different things harder depending on height.

They advised max effort at all times so it’s more that what I’m worrying about. Deffo gonna boke

Well I mean really, if they are going to insist on making us do this, then they should expect a bit of boke.

Sounds like the advice hasn't changed: give it dixie, don't knock anything over.

I'm 6'1 so mostly worried about knocking the bars off the steps, just gotta remember to stay low.

Anyone know if you are allowed to record your own time on the day of the PCA?

So if there’s 8 steps in the course means that we have about 10 seconds to complete each step allowing for travel to and from each obstacle, I think it seems pretty handy with the 4.30 time :)

3 weeks for vetting is unheard off. Congrats

Usually the norm is between 9-16 weeks however don’t be surprised if it goes over 20, 30 or 40 weeks

My CTC clearance was cleared today and was submitted on 29th September so 3weeks and 3days

Now to wait and see what happens next.

    Thanks

I've heard on good authority there will only be two interim lists passed across to the managed stages, so I'd say thats all the FT gone for this campaign. Dec wait for the rest of us!

Would you know up to what date of the AC were the 2 batches of FT chosen? Roughly

Would have thought that with the break with C-19 that its everyone that's taken part to date? only my thoughts on that one though.

If that's the case, would just need to wait for Dec or later. Had mine last week. All the best to everyone and stay safe.

Whether you get a fast track email or not, at this time you're still in the running to get into gv. That's the goal. When you're on the street no one gives a rat ass whether you are fast track or not. Keep the main goal in your sights and keep going. Fast track means nothing when you're in gv and even less whe you're out and about. Well done for all who are fast track and keep going with the hard work. Well done for all who have got this far. Its a tough process so just keep going.

Thanks for saying this. Fast track ceases to be relevant the moment you get the call.

I'm not diminishing the efforts of people who are fast tracked. To come this far, you have done so well, so remeber that. My point is, no one cares whether you were fast tracked when you're in gv and out on the ground it means nothing. Keep your focus on the stages to come and don't let this distract you. Keep pushing yourselves and keep your eye on the prize. You may even over take the fast trackers because of vetting etc. You're awesome for getting this far. Keep going.

    Hi everyone, long time lurker.
I'm waiting on vetting coming through 6 weeks now and have seen others passed in 3 weeks. How is everyone coping with the wait?? Slowly killing me

Gonzo's vetting took nine months. The three weeks thing is absolutely the exception and not the rule. Don't let it get to you. Just focus on getting the PCA, medical, and online learning done, and hope it comes before Santa does ;)

6 weeks would mean you got the vetting forms before the first bunch of FTs...

Has anyone heard any updates on whether the a/c from the start of November are still going ahead?

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 Andimaul

Utterly delighted to have found out yesterday that I am being fast tracked.

Does anyone have any inclination as to when the PSNI managed stages are taking place or when the canditates who are being fast tracked are likely to be in GV?

    Thanks in advance.

PSNI managed stages are taking place now. You'll probably receive your vetting papers and PCA date in the next couple of weeks. Progress to medical and online learning is contingent on passing the PCA.

Couldn't say when you might end up in GV. Someone else might have a better idea.

From receiving my fast track email to starting GV it was about 5 months.

All being well then hopefully the first part of next year! From getting fast track email end of Sept. But I guess it’s all vetting/ next steps dependent! And if covid doesn’t delay anything more.

Does anyone know what way it works for paternity leave in GV? My wife is due our baby boy at the end of March and I am worried it might clash with me starting GV.

    Thanks in advance.

I'd ring recruitment and ask as 2 weeks is a long time to miss out of the course. U will probably find if you got the call before then you would just defer your start date until after baby arrives and ur paternity is ended

hopefully they will resume the AC's.
Its almost coming up to 8 months of waiting , and for us who havnt completed A/Cs yet, you can definitely feel the waiting pain

KN1231999, i feel for you. Just stay positive and keep the focus. Hopefully things will start moving again in a week's time or so.

You can only get 1 day off in Garnerville for the likes of a wedding/funeral etc maybe 2 days.

If you want full paternity and you are starting around the dame time just defer.

If you are in the middle of GV or the start you'll be recoursed

Id say with another delay will come a further group of progression to the PSNI managed stages, also can see the results being pushed back a week or two unfortunately, did mine back in July and it’s been an eternity of waiting already!

  • Registered Users Posts: 316 ✭✭Si_zx10r

With 4 weeks of a/c now postponed until further notice, I think we will be very lucky to get results before the new year. If hotels don't open again in November then there's no hope, only good thing is we've all been waiting since February so another month or 2 isn't too bad. Will be rubbish though if its bad news after the length of hanging in there lol fingers crossed it all comes together soon so we can be put out of our misery 😉👍

Wouldn’t like to assume but to keep the flow of squads through GV moving and with a 4 week delay to the remaining AC I’d almost expect it. Who knows! This has been a campaign like no other in recent times!

That’s for sure. Seems to be setback after setback but hopefully it gets back running smooth very soon!!!
