Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    To use box as you require one fixed and other motorised do this as I have same set up .

    Tuner A set at 28east = fixed. simple single.

    Tuner B = go mode and scrool to positioner, ie use arrows on remote next to ok button. Positioner. and this is USALS. You will see longitude, arrow down and enter co=ordinates, change east to west, put in latitude, leave north, extra motor = no, force signal = no. press green to save and your done.

    To get exact co-ordinates use google maps, put in eircode, then on red blob zoom in until it will go no further, right click, select whats here and thats your USALS settings. Ignore minus sign.

    When you are recording on 28 east and select another channel dish will move automatically to 28 east.

    I have decided to use my other Ariva 150 box I have connected to my motorised to do the moving for now as it has always been reliable. I don't switch sat positions much anyway. I have my Zgemma setup with one feed to Tuner A from a fixed 28east dish. The second feed to Tuner B is through a Diseqc switch with a feed from the fixed 28.2East on Lnb 1 Port B and the other satellites on Lnb 1 Port A.
    The 28.2 East recordings use Tuner A and leave Tuner B free for viewing both other 28.2 East channels as well as the other satellite position its pointing at.
    Very happy with the box so far.

    Has anyone setup with unicable LNB?

    Trying to change from openatv to openvix but can see to get it to flash.

    followed the guide on openvix used an 8gb drive fat32 copy the zgemma folder to the root hold the bottom on the front and nothing happens. Any ideas?

    One other question trying to use autobouquetsmaker but get cannot read data. Any ideas

    edit used another version of openvix the emmc and it seems to have worked

    After getting openvix I still seem to be having a problem with autobouquetsmaker tunning failed tuner config errors is roughly the message

    Driving me nuts at this stage if I manual tune I don't have a problem,what region is everyone using on the freesat uk options.

    Ahh it was the region that messed up that's few hours of my life wasted

    How do I stop a timed recording? I pressed the record button and tried selecting "Stop timer recording" multiple times but no joy?

    Edit: Found a solution, was given the option to delete timer in the epg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,446 ✭✭✭greasepalm

    I use open Vix and press green button which brings up your timer list and use coloured buttons.

    Hi, does anyone use the H7S with a motorised dish 13/18v? Does it seem OK with no issues?

    I'm retiring my Vuo+ Duo which had a great internal positioner but getting but old now. So have purchased a H7s with PureE2 preinstalled to replace it.

    I have a Mutant HD51 receiver but I am considering switching to the Zgemma H7 as it has a built in terrestrial tuner.
    The Zgemma is basically a clone of the Mutant but it has a built in terrestrial tuner.
    I use a Play TV with the Mutant and whilst it generally works well, the tuners can disappear every so often especially after a software reboot.
    Anyone have both receivers ?

    I've had this box a few months now, largely without issue and I'm generally pretty happy with it. However at the start I had an issue where the picture would freeze, the box would become unresponsive but the audio would continue to play in the background. The only way out of this was to perform a hard reboot using the on/off button at the back of the box.

    I could go 2 weeks without it happening once then it might happen 3 times in 2 days.

    I did my own bit of digging and found that memory usage was quite high. This was surprising as I have no extra add ons installed except your standard epg and sly skin. Also running openATV.

    I then installed the cacheflush plugin and set it to run on an automatic schedule at the highest settings. Again this has seemed to largely solve the problem, but I'm still hit with random bouts of the box freezing and being unresponsive. While not a massive issue, it's actually just a bit disappointing if I'm honest.

    Just wondering has anyone come across something similar or have a solution?

    Thanks

    I had this problem also with 2 different ZGemma H7S receivers
    I tried OpenVix and OpenATV with stock skins and no plugins.

    Ended up sending it back to WoS. WoS tested 2 new receivers before sending them to me and I've never had a problem since.

    Seems to be a know issue

    I also had to return a ZGemma H7S. After owning it for about 3 months.

    It started giving trouble happening after I installed the Kodi add-on but I don't know if that was related. I think it was a power supply issue but not sure. The picture would freeze up and go all snowy and the box would be unresponsive. Or I'd have it in standby but could not get it to come back on again. Plugging it out and waiting a while before plugging back in usually fixed it but not always straight away.

    WoS were very good about replacing it but this gave me doubts about the reliability of these boxes.

    I have this box a few months but never got round to doing much with it after initial set up, main thing I need is to set up recording, I bought without hdd but put a sdd 1GB in it, problem is it’s not showing up on devices menu, any ideas?

    I have tried both slots for the power and restarted it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,446 ✭✭✭greasepalm

    So you have an internal hdd inserted inside and plugged it was there 2 ribbons to connect to hdd.
    Nothing in storage device when box has rebooted?

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭tilting tim

    Ya that’s right, I switched the power ribbon and went searching through menus and got to where I could format it (was new) so I have just started a record now, hopefully that will work

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,446 ✭✭✭greasepalm

    Hdd or usb should show as ext4,as usually new hdd is formatted on box and should show ext4 underneath the drive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,404 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

    I was setting up a H7S for a buddy with a brand new hdd. It was configured with pure2, and would not pick up the drive. Switched to openvix and was picked up and was able to format drive. Switched back to pure2 and it was picked up fine then. Not sure if that applies here, but something to check.

    Anyone know what setting I need to change to stop audio description from coming on for certain channels? I have to turn it off manually when I switch that channel on.

    Can you say the channels as it may be a quirk. In the aopenatv image you can go menu, setup, audio, audio epg language, then I say yes to remember audio track per channel.

    In audio settings set preferred language to ENG

    Anyone know if AutoBouquetsMaker runs daily or if there's any other reason if/why I should see changes in the order of the Bouquets periodically?

    I use Kodi with TVHeadend and have a "Default" Bouquet with Irish terrestrial channels first then most of the FTA satellite channels, with rubbish excluded (home shopping etc.).

    I copied the setup using DemonEditor (running on Linux Mint) to populate the Favourites Bouquet on the H7S.

    All looked good at first. The following day I found had a double set of Bouquets, so manually deleted them all via the ZGemma web interface, and saved them again from Demon Editor. That appeared to resolve the duplication, but subsequently I've seen the order of the Bouquets change for no reason (I want Favourites first, and it's been displaced a few times by FreeSat Info).

    It's only a minor annoyance but I'd like to resolve if there's a known fix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,404 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

    Autobouquetsmaker runs daily, or at least it does for me. The idea being that you can set it up and forget about it, each day you can then have the latest channel changes sorted correctly with no effort required. You can change the settings though to change schedule, and can also set what happens with other bouquets you have created...

    Thanks. I noticed the "scan" options later, and the option for changes for appear at the top and bottom. I hadn't taken it in earlier.

    However, I'm wondering if things are working as they should. Nothing happens when I press the Favourites (ie blue) button having pulled up the list of Bouquets and I can see a reference in the logs to a missing favorites.xml file, confirmed by inspecting /etc/enigma2. (I'm assuming that it should open the Favourites Bouquet).

    I think this is because I renamed it "Favourites" when loading my default set of channels in the order I wanted. It then seemed to get an internal name (userbouquet.[something].tv)-- it has, at any rate, disappeared.

    I think I may need to redo this /sigh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,446 ✭✭✭greasepalm

    When pressing the blue button for favourites try pressing the up button above OK button and see it then shows bouquets.

    If you made a backup the 'favourites' bouquet will be in there. Either restore your settings completely with the backup or just extract that file from the backup.

  • Registered Users Posts: 103 ✭✭PJtharsaile

    Yes, I know. I'm just insufficiently familiar with the device to know if it's working properly or not. I have a Favourites Bouquet with all the right channels in the right order. It just doesn't interact with the Blue button in the way I expect -- given

    1. Pressing FAV on remote pulls up Bouquets
    2. Pressing Blue button after this does nothing (expected or not?)
    3. Pressing Blue button after 1, then Green, Yellow or Red button, pulls up a Bouquet called "Saorview"

    My guess is that 2 (above) should have pulled up the contents of the Favourites Bouquet -- not the one I named Favourites but an internal default (favorites.xml). It's only a minor annoyance but I bet I'm not the first to change "favorites" to "Favourites".

    I have timeshift enabled and when I pause live tv for a while and then return to play again I cant seem to find how to fast forward to where I want in the amount of content recorded in the timeshift, when I press ok to bring up the info bar it does not allow me to fast forward, the red not allowed x appears.
    Any advice appreciated.

    I don't have it enabled either to save resources. However it will still work if you hit pause. Useful if your phone rings or someone comes to the door (do people still call to the door?)

    By default** the jump settings which also applies to recordings are:-

    1 = back 10Sec
    4 = back 1Min
    7 = back 5Min
    3 = forward 10Sec
    6 = forward 1Min
    9 = forward 5Min

    **This may vary with some skins or can be configured to your own needs in the menu.

    On Vix can it be configured that fast forward button can do the actions of one of buttons 3, 6 or 9 instead?

    The fast forward >> or rewind << buttons change the playback speed so they are mapped to them functions. You can alter the forward/rewind speed steps or the numbered jump intervals but I don't think you can easily change the actual function mapping of the buttons. In practice I found the forward/rewind functions temperamental on several images and therefore I prefer to just use the jump functions. E.G. pressing 6 four times is usually enough to skip a four minute ad break.

    Thanks for that -- Part of the pausing live TV benefit is that you can skip the ads when watching back and for the life of me I couldn't work out the fast forward business. :)

    Hi all. Thanks for the help in setting this box up. I've got so far but need some help with layout button function. When I press the TV button I get a list of bouquets. (image 1) I have switched off Autobouquets as it keeps dropping the favourites to the bottom. when I press the Ok button to select a bouquet I get the simple EPG for that channel (image 2). Is there anyway after selecting the bouquet (favourites +1 etc) it will default to the graphical EPG (image 3 ) TIA

    Instead of using the TV button try the EPG button which should open your favourite bouquet.

    Thanks Gerry, but N... the EPG button only opens the current/last selected bouquet. It would actually be an improvement if it opened favourites. I had Newclaremans image in a tiviar and I'm sure it went straight to the graphical EPG when you made the initial bouquet selection

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,558 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

    Pushing the down button (under OK) should open whatever bouquet you are on.
    If not check SETUP>USER INTERFACE>CHANNEL SELECTION> "always show bouquets" = no

    How you folks...

    Picked up H7s other day and set-it up, but the tuners aren't picking any signals, Does that mean the LnB's are kaput? I had Sky Q for couple of years, last used them in Dec 2019.

    any advice would be much appreciated.

    Sky Q uses different lnbs if you no longer use sky Q you need to change them.

    If using sky Q you need a hybrid lnb to receive both.

    thanks man, I'm not using Sky anymore so I guess normal quad LnB will do.

    I read somewhere the new boxes work with Sky's wideband LnB's, so thought double check...thanks for your advice mate.

    I have been having issues with my diseqc setup on Advanced tuner setup. Seemed to work initially but on diseqc 1.0 it can't seem to do the port A to port B change. Have to go into tuner setup and change port to get the port of the feed from my motorised dish on Port B.
    While we are on the subject is there any benefit to me swapping my direct 28.2 feed to tuner B instead of Tuner A currently? Crossepg seems to look at tuner B which sometimes fails to access the diseqc 28.2 feed due to the port issues mentioned above.
    Also do satellite recordings preferentially look at tuner A, B or the tuner the channel was originally scanned on?
    Thanks in advance
