Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Is that a serious question?

    Is that a serious question?

Yeah. How has he "made it happen"? Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren are supposed to be the promoters.

He's using his contacts in the Middle East to find a venue that puts the most money in the pot.

It'd have happened whether kinahan was involved or not.

Fury has always wanted a 50-50 split or better when it came to a possible fight with Joshua, beating Wilder has made this possible/realistic.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,820 ✭✭✭Sebastian Dangerfield

So they've agreed terms to fight, subject to both winning two fights each when mandatories and obligations are considered, not getting injured etc?

Not really sure whats being announced here thats of any interest.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,933 ✭✭✭Blanco100

What's the cover story for Kinahan? Whats the line he is spinning to reputable parties about how he has made his money?

For Sky Sports or DAZN etc.. what do they think the guy does for a living?

They don't care, and thankfully from their point of view he comes from a small country and not the USA/UK where his links to crime would bring attention on a much grander scale and force them to sever connections.

UK journalists would probably be afraid to ask Eddie/Frank about him for fear of losing credentials.
Likely the same on the other side of the pond for Bob.

Well, they may be forced to care. The story is gaining traction now.

Sky are supposed to be a legitimate and above board organization.

Forget Arum, Hearn and Earren. They are boxing promoters. Wheelers and dealers..

Sky are the ones that have questions to answer and choices to make..

They - Sky And BT - will start to care if they lose sponsorship over this Big Ears.

Article hits the nail on the head. Boxing has no authority so it will always attract those who are criminals. I do think there is some hope however that the heat on him now will be counterproductive. At the end of it all most criminals are not smart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,620 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    I read that today..

Sky and BT are the ones in the spotlight here. ESPN as well..

Do they want to be seen to be complicit with and profiting from someone with very strong links to international crime?

    The heat will increase here..

Yes. If the Americans put the pressure on their client states his days in the Middle east are numbered. Also Bob Arum will start to care if ESPN and the other networks pull out of televising these proposed bouts due to government pressure.

Katie’s fight could be off as the other camp don’t seem happy with the change in location and didn’t appreciate being asked to take a smaller purse (which Eddie says she didn’t have to) meanwhile Katie takes a pay cut without batting an eye. Persoons name is back in the mix now.

apparently she was offered 200k to do a reailty show and Eddie Hearn issued out a legal lettter. madness

Lot of back and forth slagging with Jono and JJN on Twitter...

Maybe a fight on the way..

JJNs career has been muck so far.

Jono has been more known in the scene, but both similar levels really. Could be interesting clash..

It shows you have been starved of action if you are bigging up these two facing each other.

    Hopefully September!

Yes. It should be a cracker alright. Though it will be tough to outshine Whyte and Povetkin:D

    Indeed

Teo can punch, and can put together punches....

This is Loma's first test against a quality puncher...

Walters was a good hitter, but Teo puts together better punches, and with more power...

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that Loma may not take a real good shot.......His D is so good, that he may not have to, but if Teo can land clean and hard?

    Excellent clash of styles this.....

Yes. Lomachenko has the whiff of Roy Jones about him to me. If Teo does catch him with combos he can hurt him, i'm not convinced he can, but Teo is certainly his biggest test to date.

Ryan Garcia vs Luke Campbell ordered by the WBC for the 'Interim' title.

That would be an interesting fight to see what level Garcia is at.

    Saw this...

    Interesting.

Campbell is just 'so so' really. If Gracia can't beat him, then I don't see Garcia progressing all that much...

    Fury-Wilder for Dec 14, yes?

Yep it's a marker fight for Garcia.

Yes, heard it ref Fury-Wilder 3.
Not so excited about this as i was the first and second time, i don't think it should really be happening.

    Agreed

No major interest for me either...

Although, there is always the possibility of a Wilder KO here.....

I think I will sit the prediction one out this time, though!

I'll go Fury by points if he doesn't stop him before that or Wilder by knockout :D

Let's hope Katie's "friend," Frampton is nowhere near a mic for this rematch.

Well, she is/was not MTK ;)

I watched it several times and I always give Katie at least 5 rounds. It was a draw at worst for Katie, in no way a robbery.

Seems Dubois and Joyce are to fight a couple of wasters between them before their scrap in October. Not complaining as the more fights to watch the better but what’s the point of this? They were 3 weeks away from the fight before all the sporting events got cancelled.

Thought it was refreshing to see a pundit actually giving an honest opinion and taking any bias out of it tbh. Harsh to chastise him for it.

    Honest opinion is one thing..

He claimed robbery. He insinuated corruption..

A very very hard fought competitive fight that Katie won, and many felt she won, and he claims robbery and corruption...bang out of order...

Nothing to do with bias. The fight was very close...I had Katie 6-4. 6-4 on second viewing as well..

My verdict was all to do with honest and non-biased judging..

Anyone claiming corruption or robbery based off what happened over those ten rds is a disgrace!

Don't think saying robbery = claiming corruption in fairness. Robbery gets banded about for all sorts of close fights these days.

I haven't watched the fight back since but I remember thinking Persoon probably deserved it. Think most people outside of this island would sway that way too.

Anyway, as long as Katie fights with her brain this time and doesn't let her liking for a scrap get the better of her she should win this rematch much clearer.

He said it was a disgraceful decision and that Persoon won by a mile..

It was not a disgraceful decision and Persoon did not win by a mile..

For a supposed friend his comments were disgraceful..

    Anyway, agree to disagree.
