Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Go way, fairplay to him if is true. Was highly impressed with him against Tarf in Dublin and G'owen in Dooradoyle. See he finished top scorer in the JWRT this year for Canada too. Would be a great move for him if true

He came on a lot as a player this year impressed with him .Prendy brought him on in a big way as a player in Munsters and clearly knows what he is bringing over to join him in Grenoble. O learys background is solid his father Declan works at the NCTC or now the institute of sport . he was one of the first rugby development officers with the IRFU in 90s and was a very handy player with Sundays Well

I wonder why Munster passed on him, he wasn't even starter for their 20s side this year.

No idea why. Never really got a shot at starting at older age groups
at 20s was behind Rory Scannell and Harry McNulty, both of whom now in academy.
at 19s behind McNulty and Shane even played a bit at full back.
Only at Youths was Shane regularly starting for Munster

ah that makes sense as to why grenoble is rumoured. Probably very likely now

McNulty has been very poor, dunno how he's in academy, been hugely unimpressive every time i've seen him. O Leary is a good talent, wonder what back up plan YM have if he leaves, no other 10s there are there?? Thought he;d be worth a punt at an academy spot in fairness going by what i've seen from him at 10 and seems very versatile from the sounds of things.

Dan Goggin signed for YM as has Sean rennison from Bohs and 2nd row Alan Kennedy from garryowen

McNulty has been ok to good any time ive seen him. Harsh to say very poor about the lad.
YM will be ok. they'll find an option from somewhere to play 10
Decent signings for cookies with those 3. Think there was a few others playing 2nds at 10 when Shane was involved in the firsts

They'll need to recruit someone for a 10, Shane was u21s 10 for most of last season and 2nds 10 if i'm not mistaken, Quinn-McDonagh gone, really leaves no one else.

Was probably a bit ott alright, but definitely wasn't up for senior rugby last year, G'owen may use him differently

Shane was 2nds 10 for a good part of season but prob should have been used more by 1sts earlier than he had been last season. When he did play AIL he looked very good and would be fine this season but a new 10 will probably be found somewhere

agree with you on mc nulty, have yet to see him play a decent game ,no defence whatever, cant understand how he is surviving in the academy,Goggin is a good solid player..o leary plays 12 ok also..

Don't be so harsh on the young lad. The bit in red is especially harsh. Ive seen him play and he's always been ok never won a game all on his own but how many can do that???
O Leary has played all across backline but most suited to 10/12

Alan Kennedy, Aaron McCloskey and Dave Sherry were their Locks, Sherry gone to Lansdowne i believe as is working in Dublin, Kennedy signed for YM, Gowen missed out on Ed Kelly i hear. Closkey trying to get back into England to play league. And Mark Melbourne, rumoured to be coaching Clonmel RFC and not playing next season

Huge man, surprisingly timid! Should be murdering lads but doesn't have that much of an impact! Seems to lack aggression. Suppose McC will have to leave alright with Shannon going down! G'owen best option for regular rugby with YM having strong lock forwards,

Intense talks of O Leary having signed on at Grenoble! Heard today is a done deal off a mate of mine down in Limerick involved in YM

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 392 ✭✭JagerScout

McCloskey is the prototypical size lock, shame he is so poor.

I thought that the French clubs had to have all their players signed up by 1 July, even those coming off international duty who would not actually start training until late July like Sexton or even later like Morne Steyn at Stade Francais?

Murray, Sheridan, Hurley, Williams and Haugh/Cullen as 9s. Think Its an unusual move to give Hurley another contract. Don't get me wrong, was the best 9 in AIL for last few seasons but really shows a lack of faith in the Academy guys i feel

    serious losses for trinity,theyll struggle

  • Registered Users Posts: 509 ✭✭✭Not Playing Tiddlywinks Vinny

Think Tarf always have the squad to do it, definitely over last 2 seasons they have, losing BOM was decisive factor to not winning more games despite how exceptional D'Arcy was at 7. Injuries played huge part. Thinking Lansdowne, unless get a 10 to replace Ronaldson, who i've heard is playing with Corinthians and should be involved in some capacity with Connacht, won't win it again. A direct shoot out between UCD and Tarf with Dolphin and Con battling out for Munsters top spot.

Can't wait to see how teams cope with the trips up north again! Hinch will not be easily beat

    Jesus Tarf recruiting HEAVY!!!!!

Big season ahead for Clontarf, its the 1000 year anniversery of the battle of Clontarf, match v barbarians lined up also. some good signings, we need a bit of luck on the injury front and more bite from the back line.

He's going back to college in Dublin AFAIK, which would explain the Lansdowne move as well.
