Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Had a banana. Was going to the maccy ds drive thru after my test to get breakfast and the fcking thing was under maintenance then I realised I couldn't go in there so had to go without. All more Covid crap. I'll have to rustle up something myself.

    Some random things...

Polish sausage with puy lentils and carrots mashed up with basil. I added obligatory hot sauce.

It was quick and tasty :)

Wednesday night beers. I had a roast dinner from my local Centra Deli earlier today. Roast chicken, stuffing and ham with three scoops of mash, roasties, veg and gravy. Only €6,50. I'd give it a sold 8.5 for taste and value. I have some BBQ wings left over from last night. I'll pop them in the oven later for a post beer nibble.:D

Ginger and garlic chicken stir fry with red peppers, broccoli, seasame seeds and pistachio nuts.
The sauce is soy, rice vinegar and oyster with an array of spices and a splash of orange juice.

I like that Porklife. I need a new Wok to get back to my oriental vibe.:pac:

Woks are the business. It always makes me feel like a pro flipping the veg around in a wok :)
Orange juice worked well with the saltiness of the soy and oyster sauce.
I like stir frys cos they're pretty fool proof and I've had some kitchen disasters lately!

Off work tomorrow so early evening beers are allowed but having accompanying snacks too. Gilda's are a Basque Pintxo - Olives, Anchovies, Chilies, Olive Oil. Some peoples idea of hell but they go so well with a beer.

I don't like anchovies. Slithery feckers. I just couldn't take to them.:D But olive oil, salt, crusty bread and olives, I will always cherish from my time living (and working) in the sun. No better thing with a beer. But ya gotta have sun.:D

Drinking a very, very rare (for me!) whiskey (Jameson Caskmates). It’s not normally my tipple of choice but **** it. My new housemate is a whiskey connoisseur so I’m learning a lot! :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,531 ✭✭✭pottokblue

I'm also having a breakfast whiskey to prep me for my dental visit. 3rd time this year I keep asking for local anasthetic they dont give so I have a whiskey tipple before dental visit to calm my nerves! then plans for big long coastal walk post visit and maybe fish and chips takeawy....

Nice to have time to prep breakfast for a change. Warm chicken and aubergine salad. Fennel and cumin seeds, chili, lemon, olive oil and vinegar dressing.

Tuscan chicken recipe from a youtube chef called Kitchen Sanctuary.
I like her because her videos are straight to the point. She doesnt give you a history lesson about the origins of pine nuts!
I adapted this by adding black olives and chillies.
It tastes amazing. Im really happy with it.
Gonna serve it later with pasta and crusty bread and watch enviously while my friend chugs red wine :)

I just attempted to recreate 1985 - crispy pancakes and one of those frozen pizza bruschetta things that Findus used to do. Not recommended - it was like trying to eat Chernobyl. Will be reverting to the lamb curry I made last night with a silly amount of ground seeds and chilli.

Ordered a Chinese, have not eaten properly in ages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,364 ✭✭✭Rows Grower

That Chinese was unreal, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

None of us finished at round one but I had a second go just there, a bit of beef chop suey which was just reheated and made into a Brennan's bread sandwich.

Had a proper 99 cone in the park today. The guy opened a flake, snapped it in two and stuck a piece in each cone. My friend works in wholesale and said... what's the mark up on these like? Why'd you split that flake in half? It says 99, not half a 99.
The ice cream guy went bright red and opened another flake and gave us another piece each.
I stood behind my friend trying not to laugh.
I'm not even sure who's right or wrong in that situation tbh, i just wanted an ice cream :)

    lol...

I don't think your mate is right - its always a chuck of flake - not a whole one.. the 99 is the ice cream and flake.. but as a lover of choc as well as 99's I like his thinking lol.. fair play to him for chancing his arm.. lol..
