Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It has been a summer of disappointments. You put in such work during the year that you have a right to feel denied. Hope relationship improves or at least you come to a decision.

Try not to let things stress you, easier said than done, I know.

You are a caring daughter and should be proud of yourself and your accomplishments.

dare i ask what a bronx cheer or SYV are?
A Bronx Cheer is a loud ripper and SYV stands for silent yet violent.
Actually a fart app on your phone would be good in situations like that. Use it to emit a Bronx Cheer when people are getting to close to you.

Yes that's it but you can say 'sieve' for SYV to shorten it.

Actually more than a TA but saw a video on Twitter of a woman in the US abandoning her 13 year old dog (she has been caught and is being charged with animal cruelty). How the fcuk do "people" abandon their dogs? I could never envisage a situation where I would do that to my little man.

Some genius breathing down my neck in a shop queue, and without a mask for good measure. I turned around slowly, and he started backing away sagely nodding the head. There's a lad.

    The current job market.

What to me looks like a basic enough accounts/bookkeeping job apparently requires 8+ years of experience specifically doing construction accounts (no experience in other industries is applicable) and preferably a masters, though they will very kindly consider anyone with an honours degree in a finance discipline if they meet all the other requirements, which include speaking at least one other European language and having a full drivers license & means of transport.

The offered wage? 25k. Talk about notions.
    This is fcuking depressing.

This. I watched Gordan Ramsey making an ommlette, and he puts double cream into it! Fancy food is just over-expensive extremely unhealthy tiny portions of sugar.

Why is Donald Trump in the news several times, every single day? He could say "I dont eat Coco Pops", and it would be discussed for hours on numerous radio stations.

Because people love a good villain to project their 'stuff' onto maybe?

Satan would not get as much coverage if he was stalking the Earth.

I gave up listening to the media around the time of the cofveve incident when a typo becomes international news.
I have no time for either side of US politics as Trump is just on a wind up and the Democrats are a bunch of shrieking harpies. TA that is is ALWAYS in the news and with an election this year is going to get worse.

It’s one of the main “reasons” that restaurants are against putting the calories, contained within each meal, on their menus.

And the campaigns start earlier and earlier every year and cost more and more. It is just like Christmas.
I read somewhere that if you don't have at least half a billion dollars behind you, you can forget about running a successful campaign for prez.
An obscene amount of money wasted when you look at the turkeys who get elected.

I am getting annoyed at the number of people walking around with their facemasks not covering their nose. I just want to kick them in the hole.

The announcements for facemask wearing have got to start saying that Facemasks when worn must cover your nose and mouth at all times.

Although some people have Concorde type noses.....maybe that's the reason.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,943 ✭✭✭✭the purple tin

When people aren't specific about times 'I'll meet you there about 6 or half 6.

    Well which one is it?
I don't want to be left hanging around like an amadan for half an hour.

I ordered gadgety/appliance stuff ('cos that what I do) on Friday, and was told it'd be delivered on Friday (the 14th). The fiends delivered the stuff on Monday the 10th.

The most annoying thing is that I haven't opened the boxes yet, even though I really want to. It's like I think it's Christmas...

Them fecking little metal tabs on the back of a picture frame.

One of them always manages to sneak underneath the backing when your trying to close it.

There is surely a better way by now.

They can be white as long as they have the 3 blue bands on them.

Well, if they're super fine cotton, you're wearing a fully white outfit including white shoes (or you're under 10 years of age), then they're acceptable.

When I order via Just Eat or QIQ, the delivery seems to take longer and the food isn't as hot or as nice as ordering directly from the takeaway.

Stupid statistics in sport, and I use the term statistics in the loosest possible sense. I'm not sure if the BBC is being serious with this one, but

'It's about five months since anybody other than Neymar had a shot for Paris St-Germain in the Champions League'

Well no sh!t, since before tonight, they last played in February

I'd like to add that Finn Harps have not lost a match in European competition since 1979, an amazing achievement

I'm gone completely off JustEat. There's a place in the local city I loved before lockdown, and the usual if I walk in and order was €7.50. On JustEat it was €8 with the 50c charge. Ordered once they were allow to open again via JustEat and it was €9.50. I thought grand, prices went up because of Covid, no problem, it's still well worth it and fills me more than some place I could spend €15 on. Ordered via JustEat a few times since, just so I could get in and out with the least amount of time.

Walked into the place recently as I was passing and the smell got to me, and ordered the same thing again. €7.50. JustEat just upped their part to €2. Will not be using again. And before anyone asks, it was always at collection, not delivery.

Sure. 1980s fancy dress. White linen palazzo trousers suit (although that's so summery you'd probably should be wearing sandals). Historical reenactment. Kate Bush music video. The list is endless. :D
(Not after Labour Day, though, or so I'm told).
