Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Glorious now. Amazing what a change you can have if the clouds clear and the sun comes out.

Met Eireann says no more rain for the rest of the day now in the far north, off to the beach for an hour or so.

If only we had this more often.

Another lovely day in Cork City. Yesterday morning was nice but cloudy in the middle part of the day. Today not as warm as of late but you can't argue with blue skies and 18 degrees.

Clouds rolling into West cork, strongish chilly breeze too. Warm in the sun though

Something to cheer you all up, looking at my weather records for the last few years would imply that its likely we just passed peak summer, maybe some warmer blips but ..from here the sweating mostly stops.
Check out last years temperatures progression to see what I mean.

Pleasant day here in Kerry, increasing sunshine throughout the day, no rain but once or twice felt a few light drops earlier. Grand for pottering around cycling, swimming and cutting the grass and such like. Bit of a breeze on the coast but compared to July's weather gone by it is a huge improvement. Escaped the worst of the rain yesterday also, grand morning if a bit cloudy at times, bit of rain during the middle of the day but cleared up again to a fine evening. Loads of fresh air for sure the last couple of days, grand once you can get out for a few hours each day.

Continuing this week a bit mixed but once there are a few dry spells and a bit of blue in the sky now and again showing I dont mind too much. Only up to 16.5C atm so looking forward to it being a bit warmer as the week goes on.

Short spell of drizzle there after a dry breezy day. Suddenly feels cold in West Dublin.

Turned out miserable enough here after dinner.
Dry and fairly sunny until shortly after 2 oclock before the showers came, 3 slow moving showers which for the first few minutes were torrential. Heavier than they looked on the radar.
Only 13c out now, hopefully dry now until Tuesday. S Cavan.

It was nice here in NCD in early afternoon but have had 3 heavy showers since 5pm + raining now again.

After the dullest June since 1993 at Dublin Apt, July with 102.5 hrs was the third dullest July on record and dullest since 1986. August would need at least 139.0 hrs of sun to save it from being the dullest summer on record.

February this year, despite all the rain and shorter daylight, had slightly more sun than July with 103.3 hrs.

From the figures I have available, Cork seemed to fare best with 161.8 hrs provisionally which is close to average, though Johnstown Castle might have had more.

Monthly summary be available around Tuesday or Wednesday in anyway to confirm.

It must also be one of wettest + coldest July as well in recent years anyway.

Average mean temperatures way down + think 24 degrees was highest maximum which is very low. Usually reaches about 26 for a normal July.

definitely the worst July since 2012 in most places, perhaps even worse than 2012 in a few places. Most of the country has finished up with an overall chilly July with temperatures between 1 and 2 degrees below average. Very wet month as well in many places with quite a few places finishing up with most stations exceeding the 100mm mark and some even exceeded 200mm.

Lovely evening in West cork, warm in the sun and blue skies with some high clouds. Still a chilly breeze at times.

Isn't it great all the different saying we have in Ireland for rain?

I suppose it rains so much + we love to talk about the weather that we had to develop a language fir all different types of rain.

    What sweating?

If you were sweating during the July just gone you must be in a bad way lol.

It was not a warm couple of weeks and most nights got down to well below 15 degrees (the definition for a sweaty night imo).

Very similar in the city. Few spots of rain at lunchtime but brightened up again quickly.

Lovely sunny day at Old Head beach in Mayo but cirrus cloud starting to thicken up a bit.

Definitely clearer down west, drove up today and back down just now. Clearer here, but less humid and more of a cooler sea breeze. Both very pleasant and acceptable

    Nice dry day in Dublin.

Great to see everyone out enjoying the day.

Still very little sun but sure we are used to that at this stage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,023 ✭✭✭Donegal Storm

Not a bad weekend on the whole around here, was out on the west coast today and while it was chilly in the sea breeze it was at least dry and relatively bright so could still get out to do some exploring.

Back to wind and heavy rain tonight and tomorrow I see, just to remind us not to start getting notions

About 3 mins of sun here in total here today, and that accumulated from a few, well spaced out 3 to 5 second spits and spats before 1pm. Sky overwhelmingly overcast this evening to the point of looking quite ominous.

PS, is anyone else finding this forum kinda 'glitchy' this evening? When I clicked on 'last post' in this thread it led me back to posts that were posted days ago.

The website has been a pain in the arsenal the past week or so. They should get the finger out and do something about it. They're not responding on their Twitter account and no updates. According to them all is fine and dandy.

Been through every Irish summer imaginable but can't remember so many dark days.

If you woke up from a coma and had to guess which month it was, looking out at that morning you would guess December.
