Not sure if Chepstow will go ahead tomorrow,if it does the Welsh National trip will take some getting.

Big River and Bobo Mac are two plodders who could figure at big prices and they have form on heavy ground,PP are going 6 places and at around 18 to 1 both may be a bit of value in a race where only a handful may finish.

    Chepstow abandoned

Restricted Area has shown improvement in last 2 of 3 runs in total, not really put into any of last 2 races until too late but ran on really well.
Will stay further than this trip but should win over the mile in the 5 oc at Southwell and could run up a sequence now handicapping.

DORKING LAD3,25 Market Rasen keeps improving and can win at a reasonable price.

Racing was so bad that i went back to trying to find the winner of the Welsh National for a second time now that it is set to take place on saturday.

The TWO AMIGOS was 5th in this last year and off the same mark again this dour stayer is my main bet to win at double figure odds,i amhoping PP might go 6 places but probably i will have to settle for 5.

In the same race i will have an ew saver on Vieux Lion Rouge who despite getting on in years can still get competitive.

I had selected two "plodders" for this race before it was abandoned when PP were going 6 places but when going through the race again it seemed that i may have been overly influenced by the possibility of the two horses i selected getting into the first 6 at good prices so i hope i do not regret the change of mind.

Just had a look at PP prices and happy to see they go 6 places now on the race.

    Happy new year Zim.

Cheers,i hope the year will see us us travel abroad, attend race meetings,go to pubs again as well as keeping our citizens alive and well.

And of course back a few winners.

Our now 2 year old filly (YTR) has just left her pre-training yard and joined Ken Condon on the Curragh, just imagine the excitement of beating the OBrien army and the"lads" with a 20 grand yearling purchase!!! we can dream.

A few for an interest if racing gets the all clear.

ADAGIO 1.25 Chep is my fancy in the grade one juvenile hurdle with a very short priced fav in it,not all that much form to go on as most have only run a couple of times but ADACIO impressed me and at around 5s is worth a bet.
GALA BALL is around a while but still has not that many miles on the clock, his preferred race is the 2.35 Wincanton a race he won last year and he can win it again this year at around 4/1,if Win is off he also has an entry in the 12.17 at Chep and if turning up there should be backed at around 5/1
SuMMERVILLE BOY won the 2.20 at Kempton last year and is worth a bet to do so again this year,PP may know something as he is 6/1 about the horse and going 3 places in the 7 runner race and that has to be taken.
Ran well over a trip that was too short last time and is an ew bet 3 places with Powers.

I backed one tomorrow,STORM FORCE BEN in the 1.10 at Exeter looks to be improving and though well beaten last time was behind a couple of useful ones.

It is a poor contest and lightly raced STORM FORcE BEN may not have to improve much to win this poor contest where stamina will count for a lot

PP goes 4 places and that makes it a decent ew bet.

Skybet paying 5 places in a 12 horse race in thr 3.10 today.

Strictlyadancer looks a good bet to me at 5/1. 3m race and is only carrying 10st 3 (7lbs lower than nearest in the weights / top weight 11st 13)

Has won over course and distance

Was favourite in its last race

Has beaten TTOM who is also in this race and who has won again since.

I'm having a cut EW. Will get money back if top 5.

Ive tipped up on the blind side on numerous occasions

Has a good chance of winning the 2.40 today

Top weight but that's only 4lbs higher than bottom weight

I'm gonna have a larger than normal bet at 6/4.

BRIAN THE SNAIL can win the 2.35 at Lingfield, the horse is 2 lbs better off for a half length beating with Aberama Gold 2 runs back but that is only half the story as Brian was forced to travel wide for most of the race and covered more ground than the winner.

Its a tricky little class 2 handicap with only 5 runners but BRIAN THE SNAIL is better on the AW and runs well in small fields whereas Aberama does very well in large fields.

The price at 7/2 is generous and am taking it.

POLITOLOGUE looks the obvious answer to the big race at Ascot, the 3.35.

This is not a race for outsiders and nothing bigger than 5/1 has won for the last 10 years,

Favs have a good record and Politologue is a worthy fav and should come out on top.

SEAS OF ELZAAM has his 2nd run for his new owner and if coming on any bit from last run must have a good chance of getting back to winning ways in the 5.40 at Newcastle at an ew price of 8/1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,723 ✭✭✭zimmermania

ARCHIMEDES at 10s might be worth a small ew bet in the 1.55 Southwell, disappointed over a furlong less last time but better drawn today he can bounce back.

QAARAAT and JAZZ LEGEND are two with chances in the race and i have done small stakes forecasts and tri-casts with ARCHIMEDES involving 6 bets forecasts and 6 bets for tri-casts for an interest and thats it for today.

The Thyestes Chase worth 60,000 to the winner is the highlight at Gowran today when around 20 go to post.
Mullins and Elliot are mob handed with around half the field running for them.

This race was often won by one at the bottom of the weights who was laid out for it but 5 of the last 7 winners carried more than 11 stone and that has been the trend with a lot of big handicaps in recent years.

J P McManus has a couple of fancied ones at the foot of the handicap who can be fancied but i think his ANY SECOND NOW with 11 stone 6 on his back is the one to be on.

A smart chaser who has won at Cheltenham in 2019 was only 9th in his last two races but they were two handicap hurdles presumably to make sure he did not go any higher than his mark of 150 and chasers having a run over hurdles before their main target is always a good sign for me.

Trained by the crafty Ted Walsh he will be spot on today if good enough and i think ANY SECOND NOW is ew value with PP going 6 places.

Roger Varian has one going in Meydan in the 4.15 (a race Godolphin won in 7 of the last 8 years)she has 5 Godolphin runners to contend with but at 25/1 is worth a little ew on some of her english form.
The horses name was of course STYLISTIQUE and she finished a good 2nd in todays group 2 contest,25s was freely available and she was returned at 20s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,723 ✭✭✭zimmermania

PROGRESSIVE was useful on the flat and ran very well when winning first time out over hurdles and while there are a few promising fillies in the 2.37 at Doncaster any improvement at all on her first run will make PROGRESSIVE hard to beat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,723 ✭✭✭zimmermania

Best meeting off but still plenty of racing on to keep us occupied.

Amtiyaz from the powerful Gosden yard is all the rage in the 2. oc at Kempton, the horse is running well enough and won two races in october and november at a lower level class 4 and class 5 and if he improves he could go close here.

However he has not shown great improvement in his last couple of runs and he may be of little value in this race.

One who can go very well is ROCHESTER HOUSE who was a very close 4th in his last two runs following two wins and could now be ready to strike again,at 8/1 4 places PP Hhe rates a good ew bet.

I have a smaller ew bet on COSMELLI,a dour stayer in the same race, only 4th last time but a very good 2nd on his previous run at 22/1 or higher he is worth a fiver or so ew with the 4 places on offer.

In the 3.15 at Doncaster GIVE ME A COPPER around 18 or 20/1 is worth an ew bet 5 places.

Not going to read through the thread but would it not be cheaper and better for all concerned to instal speed cameras at the places you put the ramps and have €500 fines? They are idiotic now with the proliferation of diesel cars, killing far more in emissions in these areas around schools and such places than speed ever will.

VELVET VISTA 1.10 wol,won a similar race 6 days ago over 7 furlongs by 5 and a half lengths!,was held up before coming with a strong run to win going away, has a 5 lb penalty to carry now but that should be less the handicapper will raise her and she must be considered well in.

Pearl Spectre who was 2nd last week to VELVET VISTA bolted up by 2 and1/2 lengths today to frank the form.

I like a mare who improves and they often hold their form for a while and if there is any pace on she should be a good bet to follow up.

If all that is not enough VELVET VISTA'S trainer,Mike Murphy (a small trainer in Newmarket) has won with his last 4 runners!!!. and PP is money back if your horse finishes 2nd 3rd or 4th.But only for a tenner, but better than nothing.

A horse in form a trainer in form suggests a very good bet and i will be backing VELVET VISTA.

Weak racing today but i am going to have a small bet on a horse who deserves a prize for retaining any desire to race after what he has had to endure.

FALSE ID has just turned 8 and in that time has run 83 times, winning 8 times and has had a total of 9 different trainers.

Races mostly at Southwell, has 7 wins there and still capable of winning if breaking on terms.Has a weight pull wit Susie Javea and Van Dijk and has a chance in the 4.40 ew PP is going 4 places and a small bet at 10s might be value as a useful claimer rides for the first time and takes off a handy 5 lbs.

In the 5.40 the race may be between SAMOVAR and NICK VEDDER,i will back SAMOVAR ew and do a rev forecast SAMOVAR NICK VEDDER.

FALSE IDEA blew the start (he can do that) lost a lot more than the 4 and a half lengths he was beaten,it will always be a risk as to whether he jumps off or not so backing at a big price is the only option as he he is not one to trust.
